I´m chocklingly 'amazed' learning how mean people are against dogs around the globe! STONING!!!??? Being poor is NOT AN EXCUSE FOR SUCH A THING!!! Should have been punished for that behaviour! Even worse than selling sick puppies!
The situation we see in Malawi is literally one tiny drop in a world so burdened with suffering that it sometimes seems utterly hopeless, but when you focus in on one individual creature whose life was saved, or suffering relieved, and it’s a balm to the soul. I feel immensely grateful to these vets who are sacrificing their time and emotional energy to help the animals, and by extension, the people who love them. I think the children who are watching you are having seeds of care planted in their minds and some of those kids will grow up to carry on the work.
There is a vet named Michael Meijer (last name may be spelled wrong), he was always called Micha, who has a channel still Vet Clinic Gambia, and a second channel dedicated to treating the dogs of the Gambia of "mango worms". Which is a "west African speciality"... He is from Germany and moved his family to the Gambia and was there for 12 years, in that time spayed /neutered over 5000 dogs. He left a few years ago because he just couldn't take the cruelty, abuse, neglect, etc.... Nor the financial cost, because when the government changed in 2016 or 2018, they no longer would subsidize the clinic, even though it was a previous deal.... It was a hard life, but they did a lot of good for the local community..... And his sense of humor was hysterical.....
I loved to watch him and listen to his bonedry humour, but I always thought that I couldn't stand the so different way to treat animals and "own" them in gambia.
I watched his channel for years. The incurable ignorance and stupidity of the local people was stupefying. He tried to make them care about animals. Some of the most horrific stories of abuse weren't even from the poor people but from the relatively wealthy who would buy a German Shepherd and then lock it up in a blazing hot tin shed all day with no water to be tortured by parasites. Enough to give you nightmares. The fact he stuck it out for 12 years is beyond imagination.
It truly broke my heart in 2 watching this show there is no way in the world I would be able to do it I would want to just take all the animals and not give them back to there so called owners they shouldn’t be allowed to have animals I know I sound mean but it’s the truth they made me sick watching it but the boys did amazing work while they were there just a shame it’s not going stop
These guys are wonderful. It would be so hard to witness so many dogs living in unacceptable situations and not say something. The way they chain them . The dogs look so sad and shut down. It makes me upset and angry knowing this is how they are treated...

Some, due to generations of their ancestors embracing vegetarianism for religious reasons, may be better equipped for it, but I'm sure not. Most plants, including fruits, vegetables, and nuts, make me sick, so aside from the few that don't, like rice, potatoes, green beans, and a few fruits, and products like coconut oil that I can also have, I HAVE to eat animal products. I can't even digest a some plants- they come out looking just like they came in, well, a little worse for wear. Peanuts? They come out as grit. Carrots, oranges, and dried fruit? They come out in recognizable pieces. Cherries and grapes? Oh, they make me VERY ill. I can't decently describe what they cause, and it lasts for HOURS. Spinach? Yeah, it comes out in about half an hour, along with everything else I ate with it. Apparently the human digestive system isn't supposed to even be that fast, but I guess I'm special in some pretty bad ways. Some merely give me heart burn and a sour stomach, that would be bell peppers and too much tomato products or onions. I know they aren't plants or meat, but I can't freely eat mushrooms either. I'm outright ALLERGIC to walnuts. My sister is allergic to dairy- all dairy- no, it's not lactose intolerance, it's a food allergy, so that might make you happy. And yes, I would HATE to know the animals suffered or were treated horribly. To me that's unethical, if we are asking them to sacrifice their lives for us, the least we ought to do is provide them good lives for the time they have if they're under our power, but whether animal husbandry or hunting, we shouldn't make their deaths long and painful if we can help it. Sure, they'd die unpleasantly to any of their animal predators too, but we're different- we actually have options in terms of trying to make a clean, quick kill that wolves, mountain lions, and weasels don't have. But I can't afford to put my money where my mouth is. But there is at least one way to slaughter animals that doesn't cause them any pain or fear. In my opinion, that should be the major one used when possible. When a person can't afford it, they should use whatever method causes the least pain and fear. But killing them to eat them isn't unethical on it's own- it's just us meeting our needs as biological creatures.
A lot is a question of education too. I was taught to feed my animals before me. Truly wonderful work in Malawi, so much care to be done there as well as education. At least they respect their dogs enough to bring them to the clinics, treatment being free would be a big drawcard given their very impoverished lives. Hopefully over time there will be better management of Rabies so that humans also reap the benefit.
Wonderful people helping these helpless creatures of all kinds if we all took a small part we could make the world a better and harmonious places on earth we cannot exist without animals they r all here for a good reason can u imagine not having furry friends here? I feel for Anthony. It must be SOO difficult to see these situations and KNOW that there's nothing that can be done to improve the situation. While I would normally be in the chorus of people stating the owners need to have the same punishment as the animals they are abusing and neglecting, I also need to understand in some countries they simply don't have the resources to properly care for their animals (that are likely mostly for protection) that I do in the USA.

Regarding the stoned adult dog - I have no idea why they didn't splint and wrap the leg. .. I've had to do this with a goat etc in a very rural setting. It oftentimes only requires popsicle sticks and vet wrap. Very easy to do.
Unfortunately they are used for protection from large predators, where they bark and let the people know a predator is near. But during the day they will yell and throw stones at the dogs to get them to move, this typically done by young children. Ownership also means something different in villages usually, it refers that to the fact they let the dogs sleep in their yards.
They say in the video that the owner witnessed the stoning, not that he'd stoned them himself. I'd like to think Anthony and the LSPCA would have been more proactive in seizing the dogs if they'd thought that the owner had been the one doing the stoning.

I totally agree. Put animal abusers in prison, and do to them what they do to these animals!! In the USA it was highlighted by a well-known NFL member that served time in prison because of his horrendous acts of torture and death to his dogs!! He was and will always be, a Monster!!

It's my belief that the human race has an obligation to protect and care for all domestic canines. We literally molded every breed in existence so, when I see someone abusing or neglecting a dog it makes me physically sick.
It is overwhelming at times to watch these because you realise that this is just a small sample of the cruelty that goes on every single day in every country to dogs and cats, to horses and donkeys It is heartbreaking to know you cannot really do much until AFTER they have been abused and IF they have been found by people who care enough to do something. People turn away from this because it is easier to deal with. Easy is not always the right way to go -

They were stoned by other people and put down because there were no facilities to do physio with them. You got the wrong end of the stick.

Regarding the stoned adult dog - I have no idea why they didn't splint and wrap the leg. .. I've had to do this with a goat etc in a very rural setting. It oftentimes only requires popsicle sticks and vet wrap. Very easy to do.
If ig was swolen, you have to wait for the swelling to go down.

I’m curious as to why people would stone their dogs while stating they need them for protection and/or hunting.
Makes no sense.
Unfortunately they are used for protection from large predators, where they bark and let the people know a predator is near. But during the day they will yell and throw stones at the dogs to get them to move, this typically done by young children. Ownership also means something different in villages usually, it refers that to the fact they let the dogs sleep in their yards.
Hurt people hurt people.
People are selfish and and refuse to change
They say in the video that the owner witnessed the stoning, not that he'd stoned them himself. I'd like to think Anthony and the LSPCA would have been more proactive in seizing the dogs if they'd thought that the owner had been the one doing the stoning.

I totally agree. Put animal abusers in prison, and do to them what they do to these animals!! In the USA it was highlighted by a well-known NFL member that served time in prison because of his horrendous acts of torture and death to his dogs!! He was and will always be, a Monster!!

It's my belief that the human race has an obligation to protect and care for all domestic canines. We literally molded every breed in existence so, when I see someone abusing or neglecting a dog it makes me physically sick.
Not just canines but all animals/creatures, which is exactly what we are, we are all creatures of nature

It is overwhelming at times to watch these because you realise that this is just a small sample of the cruelty that goes on every single day in every country to dogs and cats, to horses and donkeys It is heartbreaking to know you cannot really do much until AFTER they have been abused and IF they have been found by people who care enough to do something. People turn away from this because it is easier to deal with. Easy is not always the right way to go -

PP: The farm workers here stoned my mini pinscher, so I went into the field and stoned the worker, he asked me why I said that's easy, why did you stone my dog who would never hurt you, he said I am scared of dogs, I said I stoned you as I am scared of men!!
