As a retired teacher, I know that fractions are difficult for many people ( adults and young people alike.) You did a great job of explaining the ruler and layering sizes. Thank you for taking the time to explain this.
Thank you so much Connie👏👏. This tutorial has been extremely helpful. I couldn’t find the download so I typed up the info, cut out the templates and used small removable sticky labels to stick on the sizes. You have helped many confused newbies with this tutorial. Very grateful ❤🌺🦋🕊
Connie- This information is very excellent information for anyone that creates cards. It would work for especially new card makers that are learning ideas for cards. I also think for all card makers that sometimes are trying to figure out how to change up a card to make something a bit different that these would work out perfect to inspire new ideas for them to create. Thank you for all the work you put into your videos to not only teach people but you prepare them to be able to make these & label them to make save them to use over & over. Thank you for sharing your talents with others that are struggling to get going. You are a terrific paper crafter & a great team leader to help so many people . 👏👏👏💕🌻
Connie- this is great!! You are so clever. The labeling idea is really genius. This will save me so much time when designing cards to see the subtleties of various borders. Until now I've just been going between 1/8 and 1/4! THANK YOU!
Great video. Thank you. So very helpful! I don't usually have difficulty with fractions, but when I'm tired my brain doesn't work so well. These tips are so very helpful. Thanks again!!!!
Thank you so much Connie it wasn't until I started making cards that fraction started making sense to me. This is helping to further my understanding. Thank you so much for sharing this.
Oh Connie! I love you! I've been making cards for years, can read and underestand the numbers on my trimmers, in theory, but... but. I regularly STILL cut wrong sizes, especially when trying to make mat fronts with borders. I confuse myself so often! These downloads are going to help me so much!! Thank you thank you!
Thank you so much for this video. I have never seen anyone explain so well the ruler and the card measurements. I just printed out the sheets and will do the label with cardstock as you demonstrated on the video. Love the idea!! :)
Connie, thank you for taking the time to explain some very important basics. I get my 8ths and 16ths confused and never took the time to figure it out. I would say in my mind, 2 lines before 4 inch. Ok so now I understand that means 3 7/8. The layering borders are a great idea. I am definitely downloading your information sheet. Thank you!
Oh my! I wish someone had explained this to me years ago when I was in school! You are absolutely fantastic. Thank you for sharing! Now I will be able to share this ruler-reading tips with my grandchildren. What a gift you have given me!!! 💞
Oh Connie, thank you so so much! I know or I should’ve known about the 8th’s etc but I just would get so confused. Not any more this was a brilliant explanation. Thank you! And fab for the templates too - what a great idea!!! Happy Tuesday to you!! 😊
Piggyback Idea 💡: Cut your templates out of two sided paper with contrasting colors on front and back, to make it visually easier to test the sizes. Also… Love your personality. You're so positive and fun to listen to.
I'm going to make extra sets of these and give to some card making friends that are just learning this craft. They both struggle with what size to cut their cardstock I am sure these will help immensely... Having a Why didn't I think of that moment. Thanks Connie!
The older I get, the harder it is to read the tiny lines on the SU trimmer! I printed out your “How to read a ruler” from several years ago but since the trimmer numbers go from right to left, we need to reverse the numbers and the tiny lines when using it. Maybe the extra labels to go on the templates will help me with that. You always do a great job!
❤❤❤Connie, oh THANK YOU for this. Don't know how much paper I've wasted trying to figure out the layers...You are so knowledgeable and do helpful with your videos. I have saved soo many, and love everyone of them. This is so GREAT. AND "seeing" the measurements helps alot too. THANKS AGAIN.❤❤❤
Thank you, Connie! I am going to make the border templates today! I can see how they will be a great time saving tool for me! I always appreciate your free downloads, too. You’ve taught me so much!
Thank you Connie. That was a wonderful refresher. I lost my guide a while ago and went searching on the internet for a replacement and found your download. I printed out several and put them around my studio. Safety in numbers. Your demonstration with the sizes was understandable and inspirational and making labels and samples was brilliant.
Very useful, I know how to do layers but this will also help for layouts with different sizes on the front of a card, I can create with these layers before I actually cut my paper!
Simply brilliant idea!! I can’t believe how much time I’ve spent trying to figure layers. Will definitely be making a set of these templates!! Thank you Connie for all your tips tricks and ideas. You definitely make card making easier!
Excellent video, and fantastic printout. Thank you so much. It is amazing how many don't understand how to read a ruler. So sad. It makes it so much easier to see it drawn out and pictures like that. You're the best!
So you read minds too? Spent entire afternoon yesterday making a swing card BUT my rectangle die is 2-7/8” NOT same as your 2-3/4” instructions die. Y3p-math on edith’s and sixteenths long forgotten. 😂 At bedtime almost convinced myself difference in that small die for the swing pieces may not matter. And here you are again with another card assist handout. Thank you AGAIN!
Simply Simple Stamping, your handle fits you perfectly. I have not been following for a while but I love watching your videos when time allows, and I have never been disappointed I always learn… you are an awesome teacher.
OMG, this is a fantastic tutorial. Thank you, thank you, thank you. This is a game changer when it comes to layering. TYFS. Be blessed. Happy crafting.🦋😊
