14 days in! Feeling awesome! Here is the update on my keto diet. Overall there are a TON of things I enjoy about this diet. Digestion is great, losing body fat, inflammation is down, and energy is through the roof! I just miss my carb driven PUMPS at the gym! Give this a watch to hear where I am at with everything, and what my plans are going forward with the Keto Diet.

Hey seth, I’ve taken this exact same path. And what I realized was when I was in ketosis, I had my cravings under control, no urge to cheat. Once I reintroduced carbohydrates, cravings began fucking with my head and I’d end up eating things I said I wasn’t going to. Your psychology literally changes and the seductiveness of food is much higher on a diet with carbohydrates, even if it’s just rice.

The great feeling I have now compared how much I felt like dog shit before, made me make it a lifestyle and not some fad diet. My strength stayed the same during the initial 6 months. Currently I am now adding lean muscle mass, while keeping my overall weight steady.

Dude. You're only on day 14. The pump in the gym will come back, it just takes time. And if anything, you say you like to "FF the day", if anything with your workouts, it should only push you to keep pushing to get the pump back. Tip: use C8 oil before the gym, and 1/2 tsp of salt. It's the same as eating carbs before the gym, if not better. Plus if you sip on electrolytes during the workout, you're 100% set

Before Keto I was at 93.8kg, during keto I dropped to 93.1kg but lost 11lbs (went from 188lbs to 177lbs). After one month of re-introducing Keto I broke the ceiling to 97.5kg while going back to 185lbs. I'm definitely going to do this cycle every time I hit a plateau. Can't wait to see your results !

I lost over 100 pounds. My advice is that it changes when you change. Keto is an evolution for me. Now, I'm "ketovore," with mostly cruciferous and meat, lean after my workout, which I do fasted, and back on keto an hour later. I fast on the weekend, and feast the rest of the time. I even throw berries in my recovery shake.
For me, the most important thing is to keep getting leaner and keep the inflammation away, while gaining muscle mass conservatively, or at least not losing it.
PS: You do get insulin spikes when you eat a lot of protein, but it doesn't matter, because you also spike glucagon. Spiking insulin in this way will help you build. I've been building without significant carbs.

Dont quit so soon, Seth. Pumps will improve on Keto! Your body will adjust carb storage in the liver and muscles. Keto or not, your body still uses glucose for the intense exercise/workouts! Nothing changes mechanistically. Youre a little depleted now, but youre body will adapt and you'll get your pumps back.....and you'll have the best of both worlds.

To prevent elevate glucose, check out berberine. About 300-500mg with your pre-workout will inject the glucose but keep insulin levels quick and sharp, thereby getting you back into ketosis much quicker. Also, some sodium with your glucose will burn it quicker. So: salt and berberine with your pre-workout glucose 👌👌👌

    Hey Seth glad your enjoying keto but before you try targeted keto and adding carbs try these tips;
Add some sea salt to your pre workout drink to help with pumps and buy nosalt from the grocery store which is pure potassium to help keep electrolytes up and stay hydrated.

Seth this is an awsome experiment you are doing and I would love to see the results of adding carbs around your workouts.
FYI, and I know you know more about this, but if you are doing strict keto, you can't eat a ton of veggies. Even romaine lettuce has 1-2 grams of net carbs per cup. I got so sick of eating cauliflower and zucchini which are considered "keto friendly". Couldn't keep up with he diet as it eliminated too many veggies and all fruit. Also most nuts will throw you out of keto pretty quick if you are not careful.

Great video Seth!!! Keto is expensive, but I go to Aldi's and it's cheaper than at a typical grocery store. Trader Joe's is also legit but more pricey.

If you had that much success with keto in only 14 days, you already have the metabolic flexibility down. Can't wait to see how you train with carbs. There is no reason you couldn't have carbs before lifting and still be back in ketosis by the end of the workout. The way I fixed the keto pumps problem is with intermittent fasting. When I lift heavy in a fasted state, my pumps are the best my body is capable of. It's not for everyone, but worth a shot if you are just looking to experiment. If you prefer the pre-work out carbs route, a guy your size could easily do 200 grams of carbs pre-work out and still be back to ketosis afterwards.

Yea I couldn’t lift as heavy with keto always felt weaker. Yes you can get shredded with keto but after 30 days I was done. I lost a good amount of weight but once I took in some carbs I gained most of it back. The first day back with some carbs in me I was a monster at the gym though. Also hanging out with friends and family was more difficult since your almost cutting out food groups. I know it took me about 100g of carbs to finally get me out of Ketosis on the pee sticks.

Seth, I hear you mention youre going to do a type of TKD before your workout soon (carbs before workout which is what you were talking about 20:38). You should also add a CKD protocol (popularized by Lyle McDonald) carb up on the weekends to the experiment and see if that addresses your training issues as well. If anything I would just be curious to see your thoughts on it in terms of the overall experiment.

Agree with you Seth, you cannot grow as easily or at all on keto. Did it for a year and a half. Trimmed down fast and started to see definition but never was able to add new muscle. No pumps on keto here either. Saying that no bad mouthing keto, it for sure has its place. Best way hands down if you want to cut weight quickly and have an easy diet to follow.

If it wasn't for you I wouldn't have any gains right now because I was on keto for a year, and lost strength, pumps, size and everything. I seen one of your videos about chicken and rice and got all my gains back and lost my six pack and got a little fat , so now I'm trying to stay consistent at cardio.

Nothing wrong with having some carbs, and increasing those good fats and animal fats and protein. Whole eggs ribeyes etc. Carbs thrown in "as needed" ie gym/lifting.

I’d like to see a half scoop of carbs. Don’t go too the extreme. See what you get with a smaller amount. It might give you the best of both worlds. I maintain like 20 net carbs. On days I go into the 30’s. Can’t really tell. Weight loss keeps going on.
