The E.U. has high environmental standards and also puts its money towards reducing environmental problems. Georgia's becoming a member of the E.U. may get funding to improve the air cleanliness and the water availability. I wonder how much the livelihoods of the people of Rustavi are tied to the polluting industries which employ the people. One needs to find some other less polluting businesses to support people's livelihoods before shutting down polluting industries. Another thing is that these polluting industries may use much water which causes the sporadic water supply shortage.

Natasha, I watched all of your videos from the very beginning, I like that they get more and more thoughtful. But this video got a new drive by its dialogue form. This made it more vivid, lively. So much the more with a smart partner as Elizabeth. I think you should try this more often!

I was cheering for Georgia during the UEFA Euro 2024! I sincerely hope that the young generation of Georgians will choose to join us in the West and come help us build a better Europe. Our systems are far from perfect and we could use your passion and energy to help improve them as well as our relations to other parts of the world. As I have learned more about the Georgian people and their history, I see very strong synergies between Georgia, the EU, and the United States. Thanks, Natasha, for all the valuable insights you are providing. Btw., I lived the first 20 years of my life in Denmark and have spent the past 30 in the USA.

Previously, it was because we were Orthodox Christians rather than Catholics; now, it is because we are old-fashioned, poor, and unwilling to sacrifice our lives for the geopolitical goals of the "WEST."

I would never have known a thing about this town if you hadn't made this video. If you trust Wikipedia, they have a lengthy article regarding the early and modern history of Rustavi.
Rustavi is a meme in Georgia, however, I live in a center of Tbilisi and I think that many young people from Rustavi are often much better educated and harder working than people from Tbilisi's Vake or Vera districts (center). Which kinda makes me respect them more.

Thanks Natasha. Very interesting and amusing. It is very nice that a local Georgian woman met up with you and showed you around (thank you Elizabeth). I am surprised that Elizabeth does not have her own YT channel already as she seemed a very polished presenter and has the useful perspective from living in Berlin. I rather like the colourful buildings but maybe close up the execution does not look so good. The mosaics looked nice, especially the metalwork one, even if they were Soviet. If they were made by local people, then that is another reason to keep them. The ruined factory was very cool. And it's understandable that children are interested in the Georgian football team - they did very well in the European championships. It's a sport for anyone, women as much as men. The England women's team gets very wide support and interest here. It was interesting that Natasha was surprised about what Elizabeth said about family life in Berlin, as that sounded normal to me (from a UK perspective). When I was at school in the 1980s in the UK, boys and girls did all classes together (including practical and technical subjects) except some sports.

I lived in Rustavi for a year and I must say that it is my favourite place in the entire Georgia. It is very quiet and comfortable city, my neighbours were some of the best people I've ever met and the relationships that we had (and still have! I'm still in contact with them) were some of the warmest in my life. And it is very very beautiful in the Old Rustavi district, especially the streets behind the central square (the one where the tax office is). It reminds me of something like Budapest (in the best possible way). And not gonna lie living in Rustavi is WAY more affordable than in any other city I've lived in my life. If there are any Rustavi locals here or Georigans, I want to say that I thank you for every moment I've spent in your wonderful country and in this cozy city particularly. Thank you for your hospitality, thank you for being such awesome people and good luck with the European integration, I hope you win this battle with the GD. მადლობა! საქართველოს გაუმარჯოს!
In 1990 I stayed a couple of nights in Rustavi in one of those six story Brezhnev era apartments, with an extension out onto the balcony, where we drank home made compote and hard spirits. I was certain that the overbuilt balconies would collapse at any moment. It's nice to see those balconies proved me wrong! We even took the crowded Marshrutka to Tblisi and visited a stylish building nicknamed 'Brezhnev's Ears'. I imagine my generous hosts still toasting foreign visitors until early in the morning. So much has changed for the better, but It's hard not to wish that somethings never change. Thanks for sharing your city and your appreciation of its architectural heritage!
23:36 We had a type of "labor class" in US schools, it was called "shop" class for woodworking or learning auto mechanics, or "Home-Ec" (short for home economics) for sewing and cooking, which my mom actually got her college degree in. They are all open to all genders. I was required to learn to sew and cook as a young man. Having a mother who was a professional seamstress her adult life helped me know how to run a sewing machine. As a married father, I've made our custom window drapes, fixed clothes, made pillow covers, etc. It's a fun skill to know. I even taught my wife and daughter how to use their sewing machines. Then I go to work on electronic airport systems and come home and work on my car. Haha

Maybe the two of you could do more videos around the country where Elizabeth explains what these places mean to Georgians, while you Natasha explain how outsiders see these same places. (It would be interesting if Elizabeth came up to Tbilisi and shared her opinions of the capital from the perspective of someone who lives outside it.) Anyway I hope both of you continue to do well as you pursue your goals. Never give up.
