  • Martin Luther King Jr. Recites Langston Hughes' poem:
    "Well, son, I’ll tell you:
Life for me ain’t been no crystal stair.
    It’s had tacks in it,
    And splinters,
    And boards torn up,
And places with no carpet on the floor-
    Bare.
    But all the time
    I’se been a-climbin’ on,
    And reachin’ landin’s,
    And turnin’ corners,
And sometimes goin’ in the dark
Where there ain’t been no light.
So boy, don’t you turn back.
Don’t you set down on the steps
’Cause you finds it’s kinder hard.
    Don’t you fall now-
    For I’se still goin’, honey,
    I’se still climbin’,
And life for me ain’t been no crystal stair.

I sill can’t believe MLK lived only 39 years. His wisdom, integrity and maturity was out of this world.

Only 39 years because evil and the devil lived in one man's heart and robbed all races in this great country of America of this man. Yet his family forgave James Earl Ray, and rightly so, as it is what Christians do.

If he hadn't been a Civil Rights leader, Dr. King easily could've been an actor. Did the man miss his calling? I don't think so but this is the 1st time I've ever seen him enter into another dimension like this, i.e., reciting a poem with such compelling emotion. One wishes one could see far more of this side of his personality. He clearly excelled at it!
