    Oathmark is the best game for a classic fantasy based narrative campaing. Two years ago we run a 5 players campaing, and we created a continent, a dozen of kingdoms, a panteon with all sorts of gods, and a 2.000 years timeline. Everybody painted a 2000-2500 points army, exclusively for the campaign, including undead, humans, halflings, dwarfs. Lots of fun.

    As a life long d&d player, i can confirm that storytelling literally is for everyone. I would argue the practise of storytelling is a fundamental human need, as vital to our day to day life as breathing.
    As far as worldbuilding goes, my personal favourite is the fantasy battles world, pre-AoS. Basically the world depicted in the Total War series. I love that world.

    5 Leagues and 5 Parsecs have been my favourite wargame "stumbled across" products of the last few years, and I've become a big fan of Ivan Sorensen's work. Both him and Joseph McCullough speak to the sort of games I like... small scale "adventuring party" size games with a lot of narrative/story

    Finally an Oathmark shout-out! Thank you Peachy!
    Seriously dudes, play Oathmark! The rules are super easy to learn and the minis cost half of what GW want you to pay! Got 1500 points of Oathmark humans for roundabout 50€!
    Hope to see more Oathmark content on your channel Peachy! Thanks again and keep up the good work!

    • @martinjrgensen8234
      @martinjrgensen8234 День назад

      There is a reason for that… The minis are very basic and generic.

    • @beardgoblin1090
      @beardgoblin1090 День назад +5

      @@martinjrgensen8234 They're still well sculpted and crisply cast. Nothing wrong with 'em. And whilst a little generic they are decently robust, GW's stuff, whilst still 'the best', is increasingly suffering from being 'over done' (not everything needs to be drowning in tiny details), and very fine, fiddly parts, some easily broken by an errant paintbrush.

    • @ZukJulius
      @ZukJulius День назад

      @@martinjrgensen8234 That is true, but there are a few points to consider:
      1) Many of them seem to be modeled after their WFB counterparts albeit with less details as the later ones but on pair with the middle phase of WFB minis. Which can be a disadvantage but mustn't. Some like the old school vibes or are at least not scared away by them.
      2) Their modularity has a great advantage to modern GW products. At least for me. So one Box of Human Infantry for example will give you 30 models of spearmen, swordsmen or bowmen in any combination. Which can be put together to be more or less dynamic.
      3) Their clean look is easier to paint. Especially for those people who don't have much time to fiddle about with intricate details or don't have the necessary skills to.
      4) In a rank and flank game which you observe from 1-1,5 meters distance the standard soldier is barly recognisable let alone the details of the miniature. So for me at least it makes almost no difference.
      In the end it all comes down to preference and price. Me personally, I would like to play a game that is uncomplicated, fun and doen't ruin my bank account. The minis still look decent and can look even better with a proper paint job and that's enough for me.

      50E for 1500pts isn't half.... its E60 for 10 scouts, 45E for FIVE of the dwarf gunners for AoS... considering BA 3rd ed is about 120 for a good starter set, infinity army boxes are about E80 for a full 300pts... all for games that are better balanced I think GW might have jump the shark in pricing finally

    Oh great, another Peachy Tips video! Oh no, another games system to get into!
    Ever since you introduced me to Silver Bayonet, my AoS and 40k armies have looked at me with disdain from the painting table... as a rotation of Austrians and French Napoleonics, Frostgrave warbands, and now my Bretonnians are becoming the human section of my Oathmark kingdom... as well as a plethora of unpainted models I have picked up as "Chaos Beastmen would be a cool 'generic' enemy" and I eye up Victrix Carthaginians as a new Oathmark kingdom.

    For Scifi, Traveller has a great universe creation system. From the Sector/Subsector generation (where a simple dice roll shows if a hex has a world in it) to generatung main worlds (more complex system that can express a main workd charactoristic in a Hexadecimal UWP stat line). Add on rules can be used to map a whole system including gas giants, astroud belts and multi star system. If you use the Cepheus System or the Mongoose 1st edition OSR you can get the rules for free.

    I do like a good world building :)
    Tolkien was mocked for the shape of Mordor amongst other geology issues, he had the last laugh tho, as they found real world examples. (hi from the wiki rabbit hole)
    Remember things lead to or imply other things...
    So a mine will need likely need a pump (eg Laxey Wheel), ore needs to be broken up & processed, then fed into a smelter, so more water wheels !
    Then a forge to shape the metal ingots into stuff !
    Wheat needs to be stored, ground, baked
    Mountain passes need a stronghold to control passage, etc.
    As someone trained to do Technical Drawing (& CAD, both a very long time ago) - "ink" pens, get the ones with a specified size eg 0.5mm, I like clutch pencils for the same reason :)

    Galanthor to the Elvish kin, hotly contested by the Dwarfs who call it Golden Hearth in honour of their great achievements with the capital. For the humans who once ruled here before the fall of their realm in the cataclysm from the heavens it is Galder. All who reside call it the golden realm at the heart of the continent of Falanrir.
