Neither of my kids were into makeup in high school and I was actually kinda sad about it. I was interested in makeup when I was young but had no women in my life to guide me, so had to teach myself. I was totally prepared to help my kids learn how to do it all, but then they had the audacity to not care about it in the slightest 😆

I LOVE this video!!! Fantastic concept!! I totally agree with almost everything you said! Absolutely to the face washing, sunscreen, primer, skin care application, masks, FDA warnings, beauty “rules”, makeup wipes, and heat protectant.
My exception: I think everyone should avoid lash serum with prostaglandins. (Retired physician so I guess that checks out 😂) They can definitely cause irreversible eye issues including fat loss around your eye. It’s absolutely not worth the gamble. Lash serums without prostaglandins, on the other hand, are absolutely fine.
One extra thing: Do not use eye products with plastic glitter. The ingredient you want to avoid is polyethylene terephthalate (PET). It can scratch your cornea. It’s plastic. It’s called “cosmetic grade” because unlike craft glitter its plastic edges are more regular and rounded, but it can still cause significant eye damage during wear or during removal. Instead use glittery shadows made from mica and borosilicates which don’t scratch the eye like plastics do. (I love glittery shadows! Despite being crone age, I do wear them every day, and I do check EVERY glittery shadow before I buy it to make sure there is no PET.)
What a helpful and unique video!!!! You are the BEST!!!

I am so jealous of those of you who can use those beautifil chemical ss's... hopefully the day will come when they create a physical one which actually dries down. I am a former beauty therapist. You do not need to wash your face with soap EVER. But cleansing at morning and night is a good idea, but the morning routine can be a lot less fulsome. Cleansing before makeup is essential to get the best finish. it is wise to tailor your products and routine to your personal skin requirements. I agree that full on chemical exfoliants should be once per month. You should wear SPF daily year round if you leave the house at all (in the UK, the sun isn't strong enough to be in issue through windows). Regarding lash serum, you would be wise to avoid one containing prostaglandins, especially if you get semi permanent makeup done, as these are contraindicated. It is prostaglandins that can cause the issues Rebecca mentions. Makeup wipes are hell. Just no. They are shocking for causing blackheads.

@@NotFitforPrintBeauty I have found that using a standard AHA toner daily has really helped with making foundation sit better. It is far weaker than the full on monthly type that you leave on for 10 minutes and wash off. The REN ready steady glow is an excellent one. If you use AHA, BHA, or retinols, it is VITAL that you wear sunscreen daily all year round, as these products make your skin more photosensitive. So does the combined contraceptive pill and some antibiotics (doxycycline being one of the worst offenders). Whether this is also the case for HRT, I do not know

    LOVE this video!!!
These are truly the most burning beauty questions!!
I am a definite light wash in the morning type of person but it took me a long time to get there because I felt like I needed to wash harshly to have squeak clean skin and I learned that was not true. I use either. cleansing oil or some hydrating cleanser ( that Tatcha matcha cleanser is on my to try list!), moisturizer, and spf. I wear SPF every single day without exception from head to toe. I am not a person who likes spf in my makeup! I will take loads of fragrance over spf in makeup.
I don’t think one needs a face primer but I like that part of my routine. I’m not convinced it does anything major but it does enough to be an integral part of my routine. I think I experience more of a meaningful impact with a setting spray like UD or CT, both of my favorites.
I don’t use makeup wipes on a regular basis but I use them when traveling like a long road trip or flight. I also use them on pool or beach days to clean my face prior to reapplying spf. I know folks consider them wasteful but when you can’t really wash your face, they are great!
I’m glad you added heat protectant because that is a game changer for me! I have curly hair that I wear straight, is highlighted on a 6 week basis, and is exposed to heat tools on a daily basis YET my hair is relatively healthy! I credit Heat protection and Dyson hair tools!
Once again, what a fun and much needed video!!!

    • @NotFitforPrintBeauty

You know, I really am now convinced that the makeup wipes have their place. I was always worried about the chemicals but when you can't get away to clean your face before, as you note, new spf or before, even, a full wash...makes sense.

I always wash my face every morning to remove actives. Then I apply spf. It’s a habit. I love Alessandro Perfect up sunscreen mild milk for sensitive skin,SPF 50 PA++++. It doesn’t have fragrance. The other is Biore UV AQUA Rich SPF 50 PA++++. I need to say, I apply SPF any exposed skin not just my face. I had a cousin die from melanoma. Everyone in my maternal family have had basal carcinomas. Some have even required Mohs surgery. Two on the concha which is a particularly painful place. BTW we all grew up in Connecticut. At night I do double cleanse. My favorite first cleanse is
with Aurelia Probiotic Cleanser, Miracle Cleanser. It’s a Uk brand. I’ve used it for years. It’s a cream cleanser. It breaks down sunscreen, makeup, including waterproof eye makeup without burning my eyes. The lovely smell is from the ingredients. I massage it into my skin then remove with a warm wet muslin cloth. Then I wash my face with GLOWBIOTICS Probiotic Skincare MD, Probiotic Revitalizing Cleanser. This is a very good video with a lot of great advice. I’m busy caring for our dog and 10 medium sized parrots. I also occasionally help a wildlife rehabber raise the occasional wild bird. I don’t have time not do I want to take the time doing masks, gua sha etc. I love makeup and love to wear it but most days I just put on blush, a bit of concealer, lip balm and a little mascara. But it’s fun to read and see what others do. Lastly, I feel the most important beauty items for me are, SPF, lip balm, blush and mascara. ❤️🥰❤️

Interesting questions Rebecca and we all know you of all people are far from lazy….my thoughts are similar. Sometimes I’m in the mood to do a 7 step skincare routine and sometimes I’m not. From experience i notice my skin is at its best when i just cover the basics 😂 as less is more however i enjoy wearing full make up when i go out but majority of the time i work from home and don’t wear makeup. I use a lash serum and like you said everyone needs to do there research and make their own personal decision on if they want to wear or use something or not and not make unnecessary judgements that someone should/shouldn’t or they’re ‘too old’ like i used to get from all the older ladies at work about just wearing make up 🙄 as they hardly wore it but that was their choice 🤦🏻‍♀️.

    Hello,
maybe I have too high expectations but my philosophy about eye primers is, if we are talking about make-up in the higher price sector up to luxury products, that I should not need an extra primer and the eye products should already contain it.
And in my experience, this also works with Hourglass, PatMcGrath, Natasha Denona and also MAC and Artdeco. Of course, it's different if I want an eye primer to brighten the eyelids (which I don't need because I have the skin tone of a ghost ;-D )
And when it comes to face primers, I've rather lost all hope that they could do much for me, I have a year-round dust mite allergy (yes, I take medication for it) in combination with an oversensitive dry skin and therefore I can rather forget to put make-up on my nose. It looks worse than without make-up.
    All the best,Maria

I ❤️ my primers & serums!! Plus I am totally addicted to my Dr. Dennis Gross peel pads!! I've always had great skin but it's even better since I started using these peel pads. I adore my nighttime ritual!! 🥰
I have evolved from Noxema to Sea Breeze to St. Ives Apricot scrub to Tatcha!! 🤣
Anyone remember how ROUGH that scrub was?? Ouch!! 🥴

I just never quite have time for them and I feel like it kind of interrupts the flow of a routine.

Luckily, my 5 year old son hasn't started sneaking makeup yet. But, he does enjoy watching beauty youtubers! After each product is mentioned, he'll ask if I like whatever product it was.
