Sweaty towels were retrieved by the players themselves without having the ball kids handling them to avoid passing infection during covid, are we now back to how it was now?
@ponchogp7870 Yes, many tourneys have gone back to pre-covid. It's honestly helping match pacing and in my opinion this small change has improved match quality on both WTA and ATP.
Yeah, it looks like there were few cheap points given from errors by either player, I hope to see longer highlights. Both played really high quality tennis.
that's a pretty standard point by a Top 30, or even Top 100 player. Maybe it's just the fact that he did it while almost cramped up, makes the shot a little more amazing.
When you look how tough the likes of twilight Nishikori/Cilic etc still do against the young guns, it tells you just how brutal the big 3.5 era was. The guys 5-10 during that era are forged in steel.
That was the match of the week. Fils will have a definite psychological advantage over Rune given the hilarious ending to their last match against each other.
A lesson he can take away from Fils: how to sound manly when you make noises. A large muscular man like Ben shouldn't sound like a 14-year-old when he celebrates.
Sad to see Nishikori lose in front of home crowd!😪He fought well, but he could't recover mentally from Rune constantly coming back. He isn't that young anymore! But man that Shelton vs. Fils match was an absolute banger!!!💥🎾 Huge power, shot accuracy and mental strength! Allez Fils!
They played each other in Halle in one of the outdoor courts this year. I think Machac went up four love in the first set and then Fils reverse bageled him and won the match in straight sets. It would definitely be a good match given that Machac will want revenge.
so refreshing to see Shelton and Fils showing comradery at the net. I'd bet that a US Male slam isn't too far away either, there is a good stable with Fils, Fritz, Tiafoe and Shelton.
This was such high quality tennis! You can just feel that Fils and Shelton are going to be top ten (they play better than Tsitsipas and Rudd IMO). There games have improved so much this year alone. Next season they are going to be dominant forces in most tournaments. Kei is back! I’m sad he couldn’t close out the match when he had match point but this has to be encouraging for him coming back from injury and being able to play at this level. I can’t wait to see what his 2025 season will look like. Wishing a speedy recovery for Draper. Him and Berretini can’t seem to catch a break on injuries.
Dominant forces seems a little too much, especially when having Sinner, Alcaraz, Zverev, Medvedev and a still very dangerous Novak around, while other young guns emerging much faster and more often than 10 or 20 years ago, the level/quality has become insane. My prediction would be rather 2026 for them to be constant top 10 players. Somehow it feels as if the level of play in the last 2 years has become too physical for Ruud and Tsitsipas, besides clay court they are permanently outhit by their opponents. Nishikori played exceptional. Throughout the whole week. Am very surprised by his level of play.
What a stupid thing to say! The British - I presume you mean Wimbledon - are the most absurdly civilised in the world. Sure, they get over-excited and happy when home players are playing but they would never boo the opposition like the French (or US) crowds do. And will always applaud good play by the opponents.
@@danguee1 You may have watched only a few Wimbledon matches, or you did not pay attention. They boo the opposition to their home players, and also to Federer and Nadal.
He has firepower on serve & forehand, but not that much speed and average footwork. But he is a work in progress, you have to consider that he started tennis quite late. I think coaching is not the issue here, his dad is a good coach and they have a good working relationship.
@@al1976-v7m Shelton IS fast. Both guys are. Different players prefer either lateral or N/S movement. Shelton is better with N/S, like Serena. Both got to the drop shots just fine.
Ridiculous from Rune today, the mentality and shotmaking was reminiscent of his 2022 Paris final against Djokovic. Really hope Rune can bring this version of himself to matches more often
Curiosity : Why does Machac, unlike everyone else, wear shorts like they used to, shorter? If you haven't noticed, her legs are shorter than normal and so she partially covers it with shorts.
Yo Fils is Filling 🤣 that didn’t make sense but man hopefully great things continue to happen for you and you stay healthy. Alcaraz Fan here but respect sir. Also great win for Rune but he’s not been doing so great lately.
These are excellent QF matches. Was looking forward to Humbert vs. Draper match, as they never faced each other before, and their rankings are neck and neck. Too bad Draper followed Berrettini with the same ab issue. What an unfortunate coincidence!
So many uninformed comments here hating on Shelton, per usual, without having seen it all go down. It was a great, super competitive, 3 hour QF match 7-5 6-7 7-6. Shelton was too casual during the first set & realized way too late Fils was out for Laver Cup revenge. The 17 MIN opening game of the 2nd set saw Shelton get injured via his hamstring courtesy of Fils (who also injured Fritz). Both required medical timeouts. Dramatic ending of the 2nd set tiebreak saw them both fall & Fils got injured via his knee & a cramp in his calf muscle. Fils used the physio 3 times while Shelton used him once. 3rd set became a serving fest as both guys had compromised movement. Shelton's recent losses to Zverev, Tiafoe, Alcaraz, & Fils were tight, hard fought battles. He doesn't go down easy.
Thats sad for Fils, he already has to play against Rune tomorrow. I believe with some rest he would have easily beat the current Rune version but now thats gonna be tough. And what are your bet for tomorrow ? Do you think he can still beat Rune ? And Humbert Machac ?
I wanted Kei to win this match. Since his come back, he playing at a good level
