Now I know from where all that great music originated. He is by far my favorite musical artist and his songs impact so many aspects of my life, and I have only recently discovered his music - i am black American from the inner city and his songs were not popular or played on stations i listened to. I just went to his live concert in Providence RI and I was one of six black people i saw and two of them were singers in his band ❤
What a story!! So glad you stumbled across this wee video I shot one day and hope it helped get you the feel for where Van the Man came from. Blessings from Northern Ireland to you in the USA 🇺🇸

Only in Belfast, would someone be described as being “affiliated” to a church. The relevance of this rests mainly with the reviewer but after a few seconds viewing, it makes me feel uncomfortable.
Possibly it was an out of touch comment for most but that’s where I started to walk, where it so happens he had been affiliated. It was simply for trivia rather than to assign him to a religion. Thanks for your comment.

Where is Cyprus Avenue? Mentioned in a few songs on the "Astral Weeks" album......
It’s about 2 streets or 2 blocks (a few hundred yards) behind the church where I started the video. Maybe I should have started there!
