I wonder if Americans care about our elections as much as we care about theirs? The funny thing is after all the polarisation, not much will change in my humble opinion? But I hope he puts massive tariffs on China I’m a big fan of that.
@@RevoeLad Americans care little about Europe (other than defence contracts with Ukraine and future rebuilding project tenders). They vaguely watched Brexit on Fox but I know they would not stand for a version of the EU over there! Yep global manufacturing reliance on China is only a bad thing.
@@PonderingsofIrishPresbyterianI agree. Ukraine is caught between two world powers and greedy corporations and their citizens are the victims in this.
My friend. Ten years ago we moved from NYC to our soggy field here in Leitrim. The America we grew up in, has been gone a long time now. The America our dads fought and died for - has been gone a long time. Critical thinking, kindness, charity to those who might need a helping hand, a sense of community and national pride, education of our young people - teaching them art, music, literature, and BEAUTY above all - these things were abandoned decades ago. This is the result. The majority of the American people have decided that cruelty, greed, misogyny, and racism - are what’s REALLY NEEDED to “make America great again” This is the beginning of Fascist America - and it will destroy all that was ever considered GOOD about the United States of America. Goodbye Gaza. Farewell Ukraine, Kiss NATO goodbye. Climate Change? Hope you can swim…. You will not believe how this “election” Will change the face of the world. Trump is a catastrophe of global proportions. The people who decided to place this convicted felon, liar, thief, and conspirator back into the Oval Office- will never even understand why they will suffer. Play stupid games Win stupid prizes.
@@janechamblesswright119 interesting thoughts and I agree with much and ALWAYS appreciate your input. I admire America on the surface but I am aware of many societal problems underneath. Perhaps because I find the UK & Ireland so frustrating that I view America through rose tinted glasses. I would not hold Trump as a Messiah that many at his rallies do, but many identify with his message. Perhaps he will be more moderate and unifying this time round (which is more a wish than a probability).
Sadly, the Americans didn't have much to choose from. I think they just went for the lesser of two evil's.
@@joanmatchett8100 agreed 100% from my side Joan

Is it expensive? I always imagined it to be. I love watching different cultures around the world and even here to a certain extent but I don’t like it when they try and impose on our culture.?
@@RevoeLad Middle East is not cheap. When you go there, the Visa application insists no other theologies or beliefs other than Islam are to be brought into the country. Whilst I support British (and Western) freedom of worship, I do not support our liberalism where British identity is eroded. We have a way of life that needs to be respected by our own people, and enforced by the government here (who are weak and have been for a long time).
@ agreed 👍
Have you seen the Cloughfern young conquerers? They’re unbelievable, and easily one of the best in my opinion.

@@amandahorner1735 I have been lectured in taxation and stay very close to it 😎
Very informative and detailed assessment. Having just completed my formal education, much of this is a much needed slap in the face as I enter the workforce. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
@@edwardkingthompson very humble attitude. I would encourage you to watch Dave Ramsey (a US based finance guy). They teach some fantastic stuff that will drive the fundamentals home.
You’ve managed to explain the ridiculous complexities of British tax laws - no small feat! HOW is anyone meant to live, thrive, or even SURVIVE with such meddlesome nonsense? Everybody was relieved when Labor stepped up to bat - but they don’t seem to be helping folks get around the bases. A country is the sum total of its citizens and their sense of well-being within their lives. This set of rules and robbery? Death-on-a-stick.
100%. This is what happens when Marxists enter Government. They eventually run out of someone else’s money whilst producing nothing. There must be ambition in a nation to attempt to create wealth for yourself. Unfortunately the Tories were only interested in lining the pockets of their donors. I despair everywhere 😎
"You'll own nothing and be happy." We're on the cusp of something very big.
@@donnasmyth45 back to the Feudal system
That's a grand video for a Saturday night. As cronicaly ill, I've no skin in the game. I do have a wife with the NHS and a kid at school. The NHS doesn't need more money. The taxation of PSs, indefensible. The standard of education today is a disgrace. It's shamelessly depriving kids of a future or making that future more difficult. The gap between state and public educated kids will grow. Even in sport. Saving is actively discouraged. House prices have grown 80% since 2004. The country has been asset stripped by many who would call themselves entrepreneurial. After 45 years little is left. I believe in the same principles as you. Small government, people having responsibility to educate themselves and make their way. Small government can't solve the problems in the UK. I'm unsure if greater governance will solve anything. Government has been outsourced to people who feather their nests. We have in my life increased the population by 20 million supposedly to mitigate against a aging population but we have AI hurtling towards us. No politician, and they are professional politicians now, can solve these growing problems. Towns are full of grand buildings, built for the community by entrepreneurs. They are now being closed by councillors or torched by new entrepreneurs for student flats. With so little integrity today I wish everyone good luck swerving our overcomplicated and ludicrous tax system. Interestingly the Scottish Government announced this week they have spent 500k on a survey to discover why people don't respond to surveys. When the Pondering Presbyterian makes it big and in 30 years time someone might read this, I hope I'm wrong.
@@jaculton2641 brilliant comment. Firstly and most importantly, praying for improved health for you. And now some general comments: 1. The government are not coming to help us. 2. Small ‘g’ government. 3. Public sector pensions are entirely unsustainable. 4. NHS is full of fantastic workers but weighed down by red tape and ridiculous expectations by the public. The government enable this. 5. Welfare and the state pension will not exist in 30 years time. 6. The foundation of any economic society is the incentive to work. 7. Relentless taxes provide no encouragement to produce. 8. Publicly financing woke agendas in education is sickening. 9. Exporting goods is the only way to grow your economy. NOT raising taxes. 10. Fostering innovation and solving real problems will give meaning to someone’s work.
Wow! Very informative and helpful insight!
haha thanks!
What a beautiful part of the UK. No wonder it was fought over so much like England. God help us with this government 🇬🇧🏴

He seems a lovely chap. I made the awful mistake few winters ago, of putting out a bowl of food for a feral kitten somebody had dumped along to road. I am now feeding and looking after her great grand children - and their pals. They all gather along my windowsills and demand breakfast and dinner - not to mention snacks. Yes, the crazy-cat -lady starter pack,, has claimed another soul. Much to the delight of my Vet and her bank account.

Old country man visited yesterday. A gardener but grew up in the hills. Father a shepherd and dyker. Apparently Galloway hills are packed with such settlements except they sit in our ugly woodland. They are from plantation time. Fire on the floor. Small holes and alcoves were ports for defence. Larger holes are windows to air the place covered at night. Enclosures used for sheep and milking cows. Protestants lived there. Granite lintel. Catholic homes had oak. I'll come to that later. Only trees planted there would have been ash. They used ash as bedding and fodder. These trees are 'new'. Families living there with some outbuildings for livestock. The fireplace you pointed out isn't a fireplace but a door. Several partition walls rebuilt. People who were given the land from Galloway or west Cumbria. People from Ayrshire say wouldn't manage there. The end room. Was used into last century. Slated. Would be shepherd. Catholic because a oak lintel has been added behind the granite one. End had the only fireplace. Fireplace only on gable ends. Boggy ground with cotton grass between settlements never cultivated. Remain well because built with lime not concrete. Lime has give concrete doesn't never been altered. That lime you scratched has been there for hundreds of years. Amazing isn't it.
@@jaculton2641 thank you 😊 what incredible insight. I hope people visit this video for years from now and see your insight. I was just the clumsy camera guy. You are bringing the story to reality!
Your always positive. I'm negative 😂. I know different things from my family. Like Burns wasn't born in the cottage. But nobody is interested. Peden the prophet etc. I've a youngster who's never heard of Culloden. But they're not encouraged. Taught mince at school. Or maybe that should be cardboard pizza.
To add, I've got a lot of spare time. I even looked the census 1900 for an occupant, it's hard to pin down. Townships are an abomination 😂. But there were a good few shepherds in Mourne and all RC which would account for my friend spotting the oak lintel in the slated house last used.
I really want to go to Republic of Ireland and see the Crimean war cannon memorials. Ours were all scrapped for the war.

How proud the designer of those formal gardens would be - to know that 400 years later, they still inspire joy. The works of hands and minds - abides. All that we know of the past, is the art which remains, long after the artist has turned to dust. Thanks for a lovely wander.
