The Final Fantasy VIII Ending Enjoy!^^.
Updates**
This video is NOT the complete ending its just the very end... but anyways trust me you wont lose much scenes and things, only squall lost in a desert and having strange allucinations O.o.
And any comments that i can consider that are insulting or spam things WILL be erased so help yourself.. ^^.
So.. Anybody here is asking if squall is dead.. well I got some info for you:
With Ultimecia defeated, the universe begins returning to normal; however, Squall is nearly lost in the flow of time as he witnesses the origins of the game's story. When a dying Ultimecia travels back in time to pass her powers to Edea, Squall informs Edea of the concepts of Garden and SeeD that she will create.[39] Afterward, he is warped back into the timestream where he is trapped until finally being rescued by Rinoa. At the end of the game, Squall kisses Rinoa during SeeD's victory celebration.

By the way.. The song is Eyes on me by Faye wong.. What? do YOU want the lyrics? ALRIIIGHT!! Here they are because I like almost everyone of you :)
.......................................
Whenever sang my songs
On the stage, on my own
Whenever said my words
Wishing they would be heard
I saw you smiling at me
Was it real or just my fantasy
You'd always be there in the corner
Of this tiny little bar
My last night here for you
Same old songs, just once more
My last night here with you?
Maybe yes, maybe no
I kind of liked it your way
How you shyly placed your eyes on me
Oh, did you ever know?
That I had mine on you
Darling, so there you are
With that look on your face
As if you're never hurt
As if you're never down
Shall I be the one for you
Who pinches you softly but sure
If frown is shown then
I will know that you are no dreamer
So let me come to you
Close as I wanna be
Close enough for me
To feel your heart beating fast
And stay there as I whisper
How I loved your peaceful eyes on me
did you ever know
That I had mine on you
Darling, so share with me
Your love if you have enough
Your tears if your're holding back
Or pain if that's what it is
How can I let you know
I'm more than the dress and the voice
Just reach me out then
You will know that you're not dreaming
Darling, so there you are
With that look on your face
As if you're never hurt
As if you're never down
Shall I be the one for you
Who pinches you softly but sure
If frown is shown then
I will know that you are no dreamer

Thank you all!!!!!!!!!!
You have no idea how relieved I was when I realised that this game was going to have a happy end. I would've been crushed if any of those characters had died.
FFVIII was my very first RPG and it took me months, if not years, to beat it bc I completed all the sidequests, explored every island, maxed every character and GF, purchased the best weapons and collected all the cards (the hours I spent playing Triple Triad, ugh!).
I would always start the game anew once I reached Ultimecia bc I never wanted it to end. (I did finish it, though, eventually.) The ending scene brings me to tears every time I watch it. A beautiful game.
+rumbleroarcrux for the next playthrough....do it with the start level. the game has level scaling. flee every fight, except bosses of course^^ you can gain ap from cactuars because they give no xp....then you can use the junction system at it's best :) and of course...use the card ability to get a lot of magic X....the trick is....low lv char, low lv enemies but your stats are incredible high :D and yeah, I cry every time I see the scene with the ring...and the grave...reminds me how glad I am to be married happily.
*sorry for the bad english I'm german :P
+rumbleroarcrux best ending for a game ever
That scene of Laguna...God, the tears....and then the Final Fantasy theme...this is the best ending i have ever had the pleasure to watch..:Thanks ff.
griftegrd when zell is choking on his food and they help him then he kicks off haha
griftegrd Agree with you, its a heart breaking scene. I'm so proud about playing this game back in 2000. This is the true meaning of videogames, enjoy the story and live it.
“I couldn't stop crying as I watched the FF8 ending. The graphics and sound created a beautiful harmony.”

The guy is a genius...
Released 1999 and this legendary ending has 2,5 million views! Gosh that's SO amazing! :)
this probably is the most memorable and touching game endings i have ever witnessed..period!!!
When Irvine and Edea are face to face....it hits so hard considering what he went through and almost did way back in the earlier part of the game.
Something I just found out today: One of the girls Irvine waves at @ 6:39 is Quistis's friend Xu, she's one of the Card Club + the one who chews Seifer out after the Dollet exam. Nearly 15 years after the fact, there's still details to learn
This ending reminds me of the great talent from Squaresoft before they became Square-Enix. For a cutscene with absolutely no dialogue, every character still expresses so much emotion through their body language and facial expressions and even their personalities shine through with their actions. I miss Squaresoft.
Oh god, I resonate with this comment so hard. A few years after Square merged with Enix, things really started to go downhill.
I can't let this comment die
This particular "FF" felt like a fairy tale, especially in this scene. It's beautiful.
Squall is very different from the other "FF" protagonists, even Cloud. Like you said, obscure, and actually cold. It may have began as a protection mechanism, but it became what he really was through out the years. And I don't think he ever quite copes with the world, not truly. Because he's actually satisfied with what he experienced so far.
He kinda reminds me of Shinji from "Evangelion".
This ending still gets me after all these years, Rinoa honestly thinking Squall is dead, then realising that he kept his promise and found her in the flower field, Seifer finally having his happy ending, and the saddest part of the game in my opinion Laguna's last memories of Raine and visiting her grave. Not ashamed to admit it makes me cry.
The very last scene where you see Squall and Rinoa are about to kiss. The music, the beauty of the scenery, Squall who never smiled until now and looking at how beautiful Rinoa is. The moment when they kiss always brings tears to my eyes. It's the most powerful heart felt scene in a game that cannot be expressed in words. It's the best finishing scene than any other game I've ever experienced. What was the meaning of the story? The answer is. For Love... FF8 made me the person I am today.
In the last scene of FF9. Zidane and Garnet are also about to kiss but director cut it. Lmao
+Gin Freecs so sad I cannot see the kiss 😔
Its Fantasy !!
I really like this ending; the home movie footage of everyone goofing off at the end is just really heartwarming. It manages to capture everyone's personality without having to use words. It always makes me kinda sad having to leave the characters behind after getting to know them...Until the next playthrough.
Irvine losing interest in Selphie and Quistis for the 3 random girls and Selphie's reaction always gets me.
+Makoto Yuki best ending of all the ff games ive played and any other game
I'm far from being a cry baby, but seriously, this shit gets my everytime, damn...
I love the video recording, and the very very ending is the sweetest thing EVER!! She got Squall to SMILE!! Hands down the best videogame ending ever ❤
Reminds me of myself as a kid and crying like a little girl the first time i seen this ending and the song always make me teary
An beautifully epic final fantasy game with a complex storyline filled with twists and turns and a stunning gameplay for its time. I love the draw system for learning magic by absorbing it from your enemies. Like its older brother Final Fantasy 7 it's one of the best in the series. 10/10!!
Best video game ending ever. Hands down.
This particular video changed my life
Squall let his mind wandered here when Laguna told them not to let your mind wander, keep it on your friends. He starts feeling and thinking "Am I'm alone? Am I'm all alone again?" After that, he's walking in literally the desert of time or "Void" as ffwiki puts it, with his emotions pouring out in the world around him, getting all sluggish at one point. Eventually, he reaches the end of the desert, the end of his strength, collapsing as a result, symbolizing he has nothing left. He's then trying one last time to think of Rinoa, but he can't gasp it. Rinoa and everyone else make it back to their time, but Rinoa realizes Squall didn't make it back, and wonders what can she do to help him? She sends her feather to him, he gasps it, Rinoa sensed it, and her sorceress power kicks in. He keeps trying to think of Rinoa, but can't summon the strength to do. He starts thinking of things he really shouldn't be thinking, like "What would happen if this happened instead?" or "If we didn't do this and that?". His mind starts racing, trying to gasp everyone and everything. And right back to Rinoa because she is strongest point in his mind, but he still can't gasp it, like he has a hole in his mind. Everything in his mind starts spiraling out of control. And then BAM, her death, Rinoa's death, is what finally crushes him, believing he couldn't save her.
King Scheiber Well FINISH!? She finds him, and then with her sorceress power brings him back to the present where they live happily ever after.
this is actually much better than that shitty squall is dead theory lol
"I'll be here..."
"Why...?"
"I'll be 'waiting'... here..."
"For what?"
"I'll be waiting... for you...so... if you come here... you'll find me."
"I promise."
one of the most underrated games in the series and I think it only gets a bad rep because it was after the overrated VII
7 is the best boy!! 8 is second best in my opinion
+El Diablo VI is the best. spoken like somebody who joined in on the hype way too late.
VII is nowhere near overrated... But it IS over hyped and that can actually be even worse that over rated. It can soak up all the attention and games like, VIII, IX and even VI somehow are under the radar because of that.
Aussieroth7 VII not overrated? Hilarious
very memorable song. Still nice to listen to.
Laguna in the cemetery always gets me...
One of the best ending I have had the chance to get....love this game.
Absolutely gorgeous song, and beautiful video to go with it. One of my favorite video game endings.
On a different note, I still find it amazing that these graphics came out of a PS1!
The Best Final Fantasy Ever. :D. Childhood Memories with my brothers while playing this game. :">
I still cant believe there are people that don't realize laguna is squalls father.
Seeing "loire" on raine's tombstone still gets me after all these years. amazing game
His wife, Laguna Loire :(
The card game was so fucking addictive, that ending is epic
I like the ending and everything but just one thing. Who in their right mind would start doing recording with one charge left?
Only Selphie would forget to charge the camera before recording. :)
You know the music is good when you can hear it and instantly get transported back to the first time you heard it.
best game ever !!! this affect my life
This video is one of the most important in my life :)
The outtakes/live camera recording were genius!
Wow I just finished ff8 and just came on YT to see the comments for the ending and I didn't expect 2 million views O.o you've really outdone FF7 FF8 ;)
2019 and still giving me the chill
I always find lagunas visiting raines Grave very touching
I've played through and beaten this game countless times... still gets me every time. One of the most memorable games I've ever played. Games of today, take notes! This is how a game should be.
I wish every single Final Fantasy would end with just a song like this. So beautiful.
That was amazing. Thanks for this, I just beat Ultimecia and it froze mid-ending (although to be fair I have had it since 1999). Glad I got to see the ending.
Only 90s and 2000s kids will remember this
This song and the image in video that Rinoa is smiling, looking at Squall and raising his finger, will always remain in my memory. Fantastic game !!!
This got to be the best game I ever played thus far..the plot ,gameplay, soundtrack and everything else about this game is perfect! The ending is so touching and emotional ;(
I love how they saved his smile for the very end. He was a person who had trouble making friends and getting close to people. He preferred to be alone, but got thrust into the hero's role and was forced to make tight bonds in order to survive. In fact, it was his tight bond with Rinoa that help him return to the present time. Never once did he smile, until the end.
This is the 1 game i'll never get tired of playing over and over again!
This game is literally part of who I am. I have never gotten so involved with a story and absolutely everything in it.
Final Fantasy VIII = the quickest way to my heart
Nothing, NOTHING in the realm of fiction can make me cry like the final minutes of this sequence. It was an exquisitely perfect emotional payoff for the incredible journey of FFVIII.
still watching this in 2013... Will never forget this game in my childhood.
Damn, the video cam FMV during the credits is one of my top all time video game moments. It's perfect. It's classic!
Love this game so so much. More than a decade later, the magic of FFVIII still lives on...never to be replaced.
How beautiful. I miss games like this - It almost made me cry when I saw this the very first time.
Squall is not dead. This whole game is about a concept in quantum physics--people need to obverse each other in order to exist. Squall spends the whole game saying that he doesn't need others. In actuality it is in our bonds that we find our existence. Rinoa and Squall's promise is what helps Rinoa find him and be there to confirm his existence so he does not fade. It is a lesson for Squall; relationships matter.
Just beat this game a few minutes after not playing it for about 13-14 years and I got to say it was very very nostalgic and I almost cried a bit lol. Last time I played this game I was about 5 years old and to relive those memories like that is amazing to me :) a very great game and also one of my favorites for always!
Damn, laguna's part always bring tears to my eyes..knowing that his beloved women left him..twice
lol at seifer..."so uh yea, I went AWOL, sided with the enemy, declared war on the only home I've ever had, alienated everyone i knew, and almost helped the sorceress destroy the world...but we're cool right?
*sigh* This is definitely one of the better FF endings. I tear up every time I see the part with Laguna and Raine. And I love Irvine's little dance right at the start of the recording!
god i love this song. brings back so many great memories. not only from the game, but also beautiful girls singing it in ktv
I am yet to find another game or movie scene that brings tears to my eyes like that one. It's not just the scene itself, but the way that scene connects to the story and everything else. Amazing...
When this game first came out, it absolutely ruled my world... A great triumph in video gaming, and my favourite FF by far.
Zell and Irvine are just so hilarious with the camera and earlier in the vid, I think it's pretty safe to say that on number 2 of the comedic relief is Fuujin and Raijin. xD
This game was an absolute marvel. The story line was well put together. You actually cared about the characters and how everything unfolded for them a quality that square has been a little too rusty on lately. Just watching this ending again takes me right back sort of like reminiscing on old friends while viewing an old photo album or a yearbook. It wasn't squares crowning achievement but it was one of the last times i cared about the characters, X being the last. get it together square!
@Vergilangel this is the best Final fantasy on plasystation thnx for uploading. i download again ff8 on ps store to play this. ^^
I cry everytime...
It breaks my heart and soothes my soul...
So captivating and makes me wish I was enternaly trapt in such beauty.
People who knock the game obviously have never actually played the game to its fullest.
Wish I was playing it right now.
Those video tapes are so godddamn funny. Irvine trying to hit on Quistis is so priceless^^
OK nostalgia overload - I need to go away and cry now - that last bit with the moon always got me too!
This was the best ending of any game I have ever played... The ending was superb and amazingly done and organized well.
I find myself smiling when I hear this song... even when I'm ready to give up this song cheers me up....
me too! I started playing when i was around 8 years old, and now that i'm 19 I still play. FFVIII is my favourite game
hold it dearly in your head and the memory will never fade same goes for the ff series we all grew up playing :)
reading this and looking at your profile picture made me crack up
I love this game, this ending, this everything. This game has helped shape who I am today.
I never saw the end because there's a huge scratch on my CD4 :(. So thanks for uploading! :D
Sooooo nostalgic!!! OMG playing this as a kid... been nearly 7 years now >.<
People please, on your knees and raise your hand to Mr Nobuo Uematsu. He managed to compose all the music for all this series of Final Fantasy and all the music is amazing. Respect Master!!!!!!!!!!
theres something very charming about the ending credits movie.
that one video has all the characters and they are all so real.
best videogame ending ever
Para mi, el mejor final de un Final Fantasy. Son cosas que no se olvidan con el paso de los años. Brutal la canción Eyes on Me. Esto eran juegos.
I love this game, first time i played it was in around 98, i didnt know what to do and gave up few minutes later.. But i was amazed by the graphics and everything.. I gave it to my cousin and he played it for a few months and when i saw how far he got in it, ofc i wanted it back.. Played it, finished it in 84 hours lol!.
Second playthrough was years later, completed in 60 hours.
Third playthrough > finished entire game, all side quests.. All. 40 hours :-).
I loved this game's ending so much I taped it back in 1999/2000
7,8 and 10. The best games and most heart wrenching stories i have ever experienced.
Fantastic game , reaching music , drawing tale , excellent memories!
Just finished this game now as iam typing im watching the ending on my TV. The best game ive ever played brings back memories playing this when i was a kid :). You feel as if u are there with the charcters.
AAAAAAAAAHHHHH! The Terror! Squall SMILED! & IT wasn't even a sarcarstic one but a heartwarming one ! what's the world coming to !
I loved this game. Thankfully I still have it and play it often.
13years after, and i am still playing this
one of the... if not THE BEST game I've ever played.
Loved it, and would play again. HELL why not, I WILL play it again as soon as I get home!
@renkupen truth is most people aren't wired to take a story at the pace at which square-enix chose 2 unfolded this 1. Not that they're stupid or anything it's just how most people are wired. FFVII had an immediate adrenaline rush. I agree 200% with you though; the story for this was just classic and, in my opinion, the best darn story I've come across in the whole FF series. Love how it was explained and loved the characters. Plus Ultimecia is one scary villain! Time compression, really? [brrr]
came to watch this again right after beating the game. THE FEELS
I find myself listening to this song when I'm down... it helps!
woah, suddenly I felt so nostalgic...Especially the song! How I love it!
Raine's face...man, they captured the look of pure joy so wonderfully. Ah, so sad!!!
AWE this one still sticks with me from when it came out, lol I LOVE IT!
@DarkTrainerzx Where did you buy it? The original discs have the characters as silver but the greatest hits version has them as black. So, if you bought it from eBay or some store like that the seller could have bought a replacement disc for your 4th disc. Yep. :)
i finally beat this game 13 years later of getting it sellng it over rage then buying it 8 years later playing it got 3 years put into it lost memory card got another 6 months ago played last week put 65 hours in 4 days beat it yesterday im was shocked it i finally beat it and the whole time it never occured to me that i could have just watched the end video on youtube till now. damn omega is next on my to do list of life goals.
@SteffersFavourites Pretty much keep Squall on low hp, but have Selphie around to use Full Cure on everybody just in case. However I recommend playing the card game, if you're struggling. You can obtain very useful items such as Hero or Holy War, which will provide your party with temporary invincibility. No boss, can harm you. Even Omega Weapon.
GOODNESS!!! I JUST BEAT THE GAME AGAIN A FEW MINUTES AND DAMN!! I LOVE THIS ENDING!! GETS ME EVERYTIME ;-D DAMN I LOVE THIS GAME!!
No after the credits roll he is alive and with (cannot remember her name) the girl. A lot of people skipped over the credits and didn't get the actual ending.
@PurpleFailify No, the ending deliberately holds off on showing squall until the very end to keep you guessing, he is on the balcony with rinoa but you have to watch it until the last 40 odd seconds
at 4:48 one of the most beautiful transitions between 2 of my favorite songs
i am so getting a tattoo for this game!!!! it means so much to me! i grew up on it. i remember being like 4 years old and watching my brother play it and after he was done passed it on to me =]]]] i was like 6 or 7 when i started playing ff8
