- I have many fond memories of my first playthrough of Final Fantasy 8. 'Twas a lovely spring season in 2002, when I was but a middle school girl. I'd sit in my basement eating vanilla sandwich creme cookies, running around in circles in Balamb Garden with absolute zero sense of purpose or direction. I didn't understand junctioning, but the music was so calming. And then I was eaten by a T-Rexaur.

Hope you enjoy this performance! I kept the arrangement pretty minimal, mostly for the health of my wrist, but also because I felt like it allowed the soothing essence of the song to shrine through. Man, do I sound pretentious when I talk about harp arrangements. You'd think I was lounging in NORG's basement lair drinking port wine and moping about how sad it is that I had to sell my second vacation home in Winhill. Galbadia has RUINED this economy, I tell you. I think it's time for me to relocate to Esthar. A Dr. Odine-esque Elizabethan collar would do WONDERS for my bone structure, darling.

I can't forget the guy who borrowed it to me. He had finished the game without understanding junction, apparently.
And he told me to rely on summons cause the chars didn't do damage.
Takes me right back to the year 2000. I was 9 years old and playing FFVIII for the first time and it became one of my fav games of all time. The soundtrack is amazing

@@Harpsibored I actually didnt finish the game when I was 9. I made it all the way to the Edea battle at Garden but couldn't beat her, even after trying like 1000 times. I really had no clue how the junction worked and i'm actually surprised I somehow made it that far lol. I still loved the game though but I stopped playing it and then revisited it like 4 years later and finished it. Thats when I finally learned the junction system

I'm literally in tears right now. Final Fantasy VIII is my all-time favorite video game and has been so since its release in 1999, I can't possibly express here how much this game means to me.
IMO the Balamb Garden theme is the best song in the game aside from the two with vocals (namely Liberi Fatali and Eyes on Me) and your rendition was beyond beautiful. Thank you so much for this ❤

You know, when my mother was pregnant with me, she said she got the craving to listen to harp music all throughout the pregnancy.

This takes me back all the way to 1999
Having grown up with ff8 and it being one of my favorite childhood games and fav game in general. I have played the game so much as a kid, listening to the soundtrack functions almost like a lullaby, its just so relaxing and for some reason it is ingrained in my being as being relaxed while playing the game.
Hearing/seeing people cover these and put their soul into it is just so soothing.

Great arrangement! Opening with that descending melodic line in the upper octave made me reflect on the delicate nature of life in Balamb Garden... it might be an idyllic boarding school where you enjoy hot dogs for lunch, fancy dances, state of the art technology, and more, but it's also a really dangerous place where the students are put in real danger. :P

I very rarely leave comments on videos. Final Fantasy VIII has a very special place in my heart. The music lives rent free in my head already. To hear you play it so brilliantly was an absolute delight. I was immediately returned to my childhood, sitting on my bed in front of my tube TV (right before I upgraded to my very first 720p tv), staying up far too late playing this game.

That is a TOUGH question.........I'd say it's a tie between Squall having those flashbacks as a child going "I'm alone..." in the rain, and also Rinoa apparently lost in space forever in that black endless void and Squall jumps out of nowhere and rescues her. Still gets me.
@@Harpsibored Those went deep. I think it's easier to sympathize for Squall this way. People are usually just moaning about his personality but it's actually heartbreaking. Perfectly builds up to his growing love for Rinoa which is the ultimate extension of the Laguna/Julia lovestory.

recentely fell in love with ff8. it was right at the build up towards the clash of the gardens. thats when the love starts emanating and everything starts coming together. it freaking rocks!
also cried when i realized what the garden means to everyone involved and what they would do to protect it. it's all about home and finding home in others, thats what squall learns throughout the story and what the game is all about

Yeah it took me a second to realize everything was color-coded. I can't tell you how many times I'd end up in the parking lot and be like "what is the purpose of this location"

Twas a lovely spring season in 2002, when I was but a middle school girl. I'd sit in my basement eating vanilla sandwich creme cookies, running around in circles in Balamb Garden with absolute zero sense of purpose or direction. I didn't understand junctioning, but the music was so calming. And then I was eaten by a T-Rexaur.
I feel the same, since I was also a child when I first played this piece of art, but not in the basement xD. I think we are almost the same age, but the memories are wonderful, that's why I love FF8 Because of its wonderful themes.
