My wife and I beat this game when it first came out. She bought it for me, and our relationship was like a fairy tale. Together from 15yrs old, never split, rarely fought, this song was her to me and she liked that. She's dead now, and I only come here to cry. That's all, I don't even like the song anymore. I just play it and cry for 6 minutes
People thought it was weird how this song made me cry. I was an 11 year old boy with not even a curiosity with romance, love songs, or even chick-flicks. Yet this song made me cry. Being 20 now, though with yet no experience in romance, and still holding back tears with this song, I still don't quite know what it is about it. The scene with Laguna and Raine hitting me while the song is still choking me up doesn't help, either...
+Rakanadyo The song is very emotional. I got that same emotional blast while playing. It didn't make me cry but it did hit a heart string. It's just an amazing game, amazing story and amazing song.
+Rakanadyo was 14 when i played this.....now 26 still never cried on any games but cried inside. FF series r deep stories filled with heartbreaking moments.
+Rakanadyo I was 15 when I played the game. It was my first FinalFantasy. Nice to see how people come back to the song in this game years later. *the T-Rex in the balamb training area was a nasty one!
Julia story make me cry even more. This song was made by Julia, inspired from Laguna where she spend her last night with him before Laguna goes to war Laguna gone missing for several year. Julia made Eyes On Me song, before married another man. she later killed in car crash
I love the part where Laguna and Raine hold each other after he proposes. You just knew they had a deep special love for each other. He keeps his ring on after all those years after her death. That's love. He has her buried where he proposed! This is so beautiful and sad at the same time. And it came from a 1998 video game lol
FFVIII IS ALREADY PERFECT. Yet a remake would be the one that would be worth it. The story is intricate and emotional but is let down by the technology that could be improved nowadays.
I remember those days when internet still doesn't exist, when you have to kill Ultemecia all over again just to hear this song... Good times, good timess
That's why I recorded in a VHS the end of my games, and I could see them again and again... nowdays you can just look for the game scenes in youtube and find the complete story with out even touch a control... really sad situation
This is the game that turned me into a Hopeless Romantic person. Squall and Rinoa are the best couple and actually gave me hope to find a girl like her one day.
good for you ffviii is definitely under rated my first ff was ffvii then I played ffix and then later ffviii. I was put of by negativity about the drawing system. it was a bit of a pain but ffviii was still a really great game. I have a theory though that a persons fav ff is often simply the first ff that they play. as ffvii was the first I played its my favourite. but I think if I had played either ffvi, ffviii, ffix or ffx as my first final fantasy game then wish ever was first would of been my favourite I think.
+Kaze Vongola I had played this game years ago so i dont remember well. I have a question so say i lvl up to 100 my enemies will also be 100 right ? So whats the point it wont make any difference when im lvl 5 my enemies will also be lvl 5. So how can i have the advantage? By just junction?
There is something utterly magical about this ending that words cannot describe. Laguna visiting Raine's grave is one of the biggest tearjerkers in history. All the characters coming together - I was glad to see even Seifer, even though he was a huge dick, having fun with his posse and looking up to the Garden with a smile as if he has grown as a person. Hands down, absolutely the greatest video game ending in history.
Modern, not most. In all honesty: there was more feelings going on in 9 than 8 already. It is the acting of the characters that make people think that. Almost like they're living actors, really into their teenage rebellious character.
I love this game. I love the characters and how human they all are. I love Squall in all of his "adorable dork masquerading as a total kickbutt"-ness and his character development. I love Quistis as she is a total riot who gets some of the best lines in the game, yet still manages to be fairly sagely. I love Zell in being a believable reckless character, he doesn't have the IQ of a rock, nor is he super rude, but instead, he does have some common sense, but sometimes his temper/fear gets the better of him and cancels it out, who I sympathize with greatly. I love Selphie and her zaniness and quotable-ness. I love Rinoa as she is the one fictional character I could see myself in the most. I'm quirky and can be a total ham, I care about my loved ones dearly, I can be a bit insecure and hard on myself and prone to anxiety and sometimes I need some help, and what can I say, I really like stuff relating to Heavenly angels and I'd totally get a sweater like hers sometime with wings sewn on the back, and my wardrobe even mostly consists of blue and black by sheer coincidence! I love Irvine and how he is more complex than you'd think and not just your typical good time cowboy casanova. I love Laguna as he's even more of an adorable dork than his son (it must run in the family) I love how the story just flows together. I love how the game doesn't mess with your head but simply says good+light=good and bad+dark=bad, showing that crime doesn't pay and makes you root for the good guys. I love the music in this game so much. I love how the theatrical cutscenes can still stand up to some more modern CGI films out there. I love the little summon animation for the Brothers (ROCK PAPER SCISSORS AND MANLY TEARS I'M DYINNNNNGGGG! XD). I love how this game remembers to be lighthearted and not always serious. I love the Squinoa pairing, I really do (even though, in spite of what I said earlier about me and Rinoa being super similar, Squall isn't really my type; I'm more into chivalrous and gentle-hearted guys). I love so many of the little things as well as the more stand-out things about this game. And I love this ending (the part with Laguna's flashback and him standing by her grave gets me every time). It's so bizarre....I've picked up this game only two years ago just to get a taste of the ever-so-famous Final Fantasy series, and I didn't quite know what to expect: I just knew that this was one of the less-talked-about games in the franchise (which is a total shame since it's so surprisingly good) and therefore I was going in practically spoiler free (aside from "Edea was only being controlled and is not actually evil"), and I thought playing one of these games blind would be an interesting experience. I expected it to be one of those games that I'd like but wouldn't say it was in my top five, or perhaps one of those games I'd play for a while but never finish. I was most certainly wrong. This game hit almost all of the right cords for me; the music, the characters, the graphics, the story, the art style, they all appealed to me so much, and somewhere, this game became my favorite. ....The only things I don't love about this game are Seifer, President Deling, Adel, and Ultimecia. I'm obviously not a villains person. That, and the fight against Adel was probably the most stress-inducing boss battle I've ever had to go through (and I've been through a lot of really vexing boss fights from various franchises, from Young Xehanort to Ghetsis to Lloyd Reed and a few others in between, so that's saying something!).

Finished the game last night, and all the ending scenes were AMAZING. Tears for Laguna. ;____; I'm in awe of how insanely better the graphics got from FF7 to FF8. Like... such a huge jump in quality my god. 0______0
Knowing the history of FF7's production makes the difference in graphics between 7 and 8 pretty easy to understand. (Disregarding the fact that 8 came later and thus the makers had time to develop their graphics capabilities further.)
I can't remember when exactly but I believe between FF7 & FF8 there was a transition in the franchise to rename the company from Squaresoft to SquareEnix, which probably to me showed the difference in improvements for graphics and battle systems. I remember I played FF7 before FF8, and I still say that FF8 had the best story and the best graphics. FF9 even had a better story than FF7.
6->7 was a graphical jump, though that's the difference in consoles 7->8 well just think of how many discs you would've needed for 7 if it had the same graphics. 8 is just more and differently focused on battle systems, while 7 was still more of a story told. and even with that, 7's story wasn't completed entirely. it ends in such manner that it can still spread like it is these days. the graphics due to story line is proven in FF9, where the story line is longer than 8 but graphical it's a small step back.
Video games have really lost something these days. Graphics have improved astronomically but new releases can't hold a candle to old PS games like this and others. Or maybe it's me that's changed?
I believe it's both. We've played these games when we were younger and they left a mark on each of us. The current generation of kids will be saying the same things in 10 years time. That being said - I can't decide if I like FF8 more or FF9. I love both in all respects. And the gunblade is the most unrealistic yet insanely cool weapon ever designed!
+Yavor Yanakiev Technically Gunblade can work as a weapon, but not as a sword that can shoot bullets. In the game Quistis explains it in a tutorial, that the blade itself vibrates as you pull the trigger. almost the same way, as a vibroblade does in Star Wars, but it needs to be.... triggered, let's say (no pun intended). It's early designs (as I saw) was a two parted blade. One being a moving part, that actually cuts, and in this part, there were a non moving part, that had a spring on it, to pull back the outer part (so it can not be shot away, and can be used multiple times, before the spring actually break). Than in the gun part, there were bullets, with compressed air or something like that, that can hit the outer part of tha blade to launch it forward, to deepen the wound. So it is cool, and in a twisted way is realistic. (Sorry for the bad english, not my native language, and it is really late where I live. Like midnight late. So sorry. :D )
I'd say it's half and half. Because you have changed, but also many games just aren't that same anymore. that said, Square's games are starting to pick back up to this, it looks like. Just as long as we forget 13
Do you know the feeling, when you play Final Fantasy VIII until the end, you see the cutscence and your heart beating fast, you tremor and then a tear drops down your face.
Oh man these reminds me of the old days. I loved playing this game, it made me happy. I'll always remember the days of playing my favorite game that is Final Fantasy.
24 yrs later this still bring tears to my eyes...i have ps1, ps2, ps3, ps4, xbox 360, xbox SX, played hundreds of games in all these consoles..still ff8 holds the number 1 spot in my all time favorite game..
As others here have said, I wish that they would have a remake of this like what they're doing with FFVII. This game certainly deserves a remake for FF fans.
Ya ampunnn inget jaman SMA maenin ff di ps 1 sampe tamat n bnr² seneng bgt maeninnya.. sekarang umurku 38thn, dah punya anak 2 dah gede². Nostalgia bgttttt sumpah 🥲🥲
Bruno Harvelot If you did, you are the man. If not, trully hope you find the one who will deserve the honor. I share that dream of playing this on my. ;)
Bro, does it still make me a man if this makes me want to cry? :( This brings back some good memories of this game. Flip, making my eyes sort of well up! :/ I played this game back when I was like 9 or 10, and listening to this really brings back the feels! I am now 22 haha but flip, can't believe how much this makes me think back and remember the experience of playing this and the story line. It was pretty touching man. This game was something...
I clicked on this video only to commnet on how this game had one of the best F stories ever... 17 years later, and I still don't have the balls to listen to this music again, because I know it's gonna hit me deep.
this is the very first game who told me about romance back 19 years ago.. this game is more than just a game for me.. squall and rinoa, laguna and julia, told me about love is actually exist !!!
I wish they made a remake of this game . Imagine at E3 2015 if they turned off all the lights and then the song starts while the image of a moon appears and a shot of rinoa'a back (just like the final scenes of the ending ) looking over The railing at the sea as the vocals came in. That would be the most emotional e3 in history. EVERYONE WOULD CRY ! I would throw my entire pants at the screen without even taking off my shoes
The way Raine walks up to Laguna before he turns arounds and smiles at him... just beautiful. You really see the love she has for him. Such an incredible scene and song. Timeless.
They need to remaster ff7 and ff8 completely and add surprises like map expansions and off missions and extra games, the generation that loved these games deserve that, these two games never get old but especially ff8 for me its more realistic taste, and i don't think voices will hurt as long as they remaster dramatic cgi cinematics genuinely. They have also released hd versions on steam so a new generation can fall in love with the originals! ;-)
I can still remember how I was enchanted by this song the first time when I heard it-25 years ago; in a big language lab with 50 students. When some students started playing the CD, the classroom was suddenly transformed into a beautiful world, full of fantasy. I’m now 63 and still like this song very much. However, there seems to me a few mistakes in the lyrics. Hope to offer some little help. Whenever I sang my song On the stage, on my own Whenever I said my words Wishing they would be heard I saw you smiling at me Was it real or just my fantasy? You’d always be there in the corner Of this tiny little bar My last night here for you Same old songs, just once more My last night here with you Maybe yes, maybe no I kind of liked it your way How you shyly placed your eyes on me Oh, did you ever know That I had mine on you? Darling, so there you are With that look on your face As if you’d never hurt As if you’d never down Shall I be the one for you Who pinches you softly but sure If frown is shown and then I will know that you are no dreamer So let me come to you Close as I want to be Close enough for me To feel your heart beating fast And stay there as I whisper How I loved your peaceful eyes on me Did you ever know That I had mine on you? Darling, so share with me Your love if you have enough Your tears if you’re holding back Or pain if that’s what it is How can I let you know I’m more than the dress and the voice? Just reach me out and then You will know that you’re not dreaming Darling, so there you are With that look on your face As if you’d never hurt As if you’d never down Shall I be the one for you Who pinches you softly but sure If frown is shown and then I will know that you are no dreamer
AGh! Where those ninjas cutting onions?! Seriously! I remember how me and my classmates would always listen and sing to this song coz we all loved this game. Yep... Those wonderful memories... I miss being a kid. ;(
I truly feel sorry for the younger generation that will never experience these games in their contained zeitgeists. FF8 had such an amazing intro and ending, I can't to this day think of a game that beats it in scope and emotion.
I literally finished this game less than a week ago. What killed me was Laguna putting the ring on Raine in the past, and then him visiting her grave in the present. Not-so-manly tears were shed.
Final Fantasy 8 was an experience, it had everything an amazing game needed, strong characters, love, hate, betray, deaths, suprises, an outstanding score, great visuals, it could easily deserve a movie and a PS4 or 5 remake !
Imo, one of the best endings to a wonderful game. I feel like some of the later final fantasy games are trying too hard with the 'tragedy' theme in their endings. It's great, it's emotional--but nothing is compared to this: this sense of fulfilment after completing an incredible game, this nostalgia, this happiness that your characters are all well and will live a happy life. Gah, my heart is all warm and fuzzy
Squall was far from being the standard "masculine" model. He looks too visual kei-ish to me Laguna is more masculine than him, even considering the hair.
My wife and I beat this game when it first came out. She bought it for me, and our relationship was like a fairy tale. God same here. Life has dulled that passion over time, but every now and then something sparks the romanticism this game (and music) inspired in me.
How are you doing now?
Any signs of hope?
Laguna and Raine is the true love story of the game.
That's what my BF said.
Fake news. It's Laguna and Julia.
It was always Laguna and Julia, a love story so powerful that it was passed on to the next generation.
Julia sings this song to Laguna is so depressing to think about it.
They should have made the entire game for Laguna
I honestly like Final Fantasy VIII more than VII. This game is criminally underrated!

Eyes On Me & Suteki Da Ne are two most incredible songs in Final Fantasy Universe
Finished the game last night, and all the ending scenes were AMAZING. Tears for Laguna. ;____; I'm in awe of how insanely better the graphics got from FF7 to FF8. Like... such a huge jump in quality my god. 0______0
FF8 is a good game ofc
Dahjer Canaan Squaresoft merged with Enix -> Square Enix after Final Fantasy X and Kingdom Hearts were released
6->7 was a graphical jump, though that's the difference in consoles
7->8 well just think of how many discs you would've needed for 7 if it had the same graphics.
2:20... Laguna and Raine, it get's me every time. Every single time.
+Yavor Yanakiev Gunblades are real and have been used in war and I'm not referring to bayonets.
+Yavor Yanakiev agree agree agree tho I'd say ff ix is my ultimate fave!!!!!
+LillyAndora Yup
Laguna's story is so sad he was a good man who went through so much pain and didn't deserve any of it
BEST GAME I HAVE EVER PLAYED
man that space dying scene really got me crying on that game
Oh man these reminds me of the old days. I loved playing this game, it made me happy. I'll always remember the days of playing my favorite game that is Final Fantasy.
24 yrs later this still bring tears to my eyes...i have ps1, ps2, ps3, ps4, xbox 360, xbox SX, played hundreds of games in all these consoles..still ff8 holds the number 1 spot in my all time favorite game..
As others here have said, I wish that they would have a remake of this like what they're doing with FFVII. This game certainly deserves a remake for FF fans.
I hope they do a ps4 remake of all 3 psone games! 9 was just as beautiful!
+Jacob Pulido 9 was okay but I thought it was a little too cartoony. still I'd buy a remake of 8 if they made it
I wish they could but look how long they take to release ff15 I could imagine this will succeed outside our life time :0
i 100000x agree with you.. 😧
The diablos summon in the remake would be a total bad ass!
ff8 my first ps final fantasy
+LouisPlays thank you man best FF evet

Bruno Harvelot My wife fooled around on me for 3 years before she finally left me. My heart is still broken.
Nice guys like me always finish last.
Bro, does it still make me a man if this makes me want to cry? :(
This brings back some good memories of this game. Flip, making my eyes sort of well up! :/
I played this game back when I was like 9 or 10, and listening to this really brings back the feels! I am now 22 haha but flip, can't believe how much this makes me think back and remember the experience of playing this and the story line. It was pretty touching man.
This game was something...
I still cry hearing this song :'D
Also this is my number1 FF game ever. :D
Was a bit older back than. And yes i´ve cried. Every time that i´ll put this song on i´ll cry. Its a nice, and btings back tons of memory.
*Would you have coffee with me?*

CottonLilly Yes...come on, let us go and get some coffee!
このシーンはいつ観ても泣ける!ストーリー最高です!!
I clicked on this video only to commnet on how this game had one of the best F stories ever...
17 years later, and I still don't have the balls to listen to this music again, because I know it's gonna hit me deep.
I was 12 when I first heard this on my first playthrough... I'm 26 now and it still makes me blub like a baby!
Im 35 from year 2024.
I missed this game, it’s one of my childhood game!
One of the few games that can make me laugh, cry, just every range of emotion from the start to the finish. I love this game. Must replay it again.
After playing FFXV, I came back here :)
Remembered this at the game.. old memories come back😭.. btw 2018? Anyone?
this is the very first game who told me about romance back 19 years ago.. this game is more than just a game for me.. squall and rinoa, laguna and julia, told me about love is actually exist !!!
Rajat Duggal meee
November 2018 come to bring back old memories and ended up crying all over again😭
greetings from the future
@Rajat Duggal
@Rajat Duggal after 20 years
even after all these years still my fav Final Fantasy of all love the ragnarok in space most ;)
When I beat this game, I felt that I lived a life. And I was happy I lived it.
I would throw my entire pants at the screen without even taking off my shoes
hahaha you made my laugh with the last sentence xDD Great humour^^
Time to invest in tearaway pants!
Well we got FF7 at least. Still would be cool for a remake of this though.
I cried like a baby then I first beat this game..
Just am I wacthing the song in almost finish 2020!!! 😥
Life forever my childhood!!! You make me happiness.
Who's here after played FF7 Remake ???
I wish this masterpiece will get Remake too, especially those love stories and emotions
Such beautiful game
Uhm.. it did.. I know of a remastered version for the Nintendo Switch
It is amazing what they did with ps1 back then
This song gives me the chills every time, I can't help but think about finding my soulmate when I hear this.
This is one of those few older games out there that still manage to hit me hard even so many years down the line. So glad I still own this.
Someone in 2020 ???
Final Fantasy VIII FOREVER!!!!!
何回見ても鳥肌たつエンドだわ
特にラグナのとこ
This song is just amazing and creates tranquility for me ! No song beats this one !
FFVIII, I played to the end more than 100 times, only for this song. Back then, there wasn't internet...
Who wants to cry with me ? Thumbs me up showing you're crying with me :(
Sorry I am a bit late I am here
I'm here already bawling my eyess 😭
It’s a classic no shame
My favorite final fantasy what a great game😢😢😢😢😊😊😊😊😢😢😭😭😭😭
It's 2014 and i'm still madly in love with this song the the memories of playing one of the best game of all times :)
Idan Alhadjri and the spirits within
The way Raine walks up to Laguna before he turns arounds and smiles at him... just beautiful.
They have also released hd versions on steam so a new generation can fall in love with the originals! ;-)
5:08 Oh man, I used to love Irvine so much! Good times! 🥲
Most memorable final Fantasy for me even in 2019
I can still remember how I was enchanted by this song the first time when I heard it-25 years ago; in a big language lab with 50 students. When some students started playing the CD, the classroom was suddenly transformed into a beautiful world, full of fantasy.
I’m now 63 and still like this song very much. However, there seems to me a few mistakes in the lyrics. Hope to offer some little help.
Whenever I sang my song
On the stage, on my own
Whenever I said my words
Wishing they would be heard
I saw you smiling at me
Was it real or just my fantasy?
You’d always be there in the corner
Of this tiny little bar
My last night here for you
Same old songs, just once more
My last night here with you
Maybe yes, maybe no
I kind of liked it your way
How you shyly placed your eyes on me
Oh, did you ever know
That I had mine on you?
Darling, so there you are
With that look on your face
As if you’d never hurt
As if you’d never down
Shall I be the one for you
Who pinches you softly but sure
If frown is shown and then
I will know that you are no dreamer
So let me come to you
Close as I want to be
Close enough for me
To feel your heart beating fast
And stay there as I whisper
How I loved your peaceful eyes on me
Did you ever know
That I had mine on you?
Darling, so share with me
Your love if you have enough
Your tears if you’re holding back
Or pain if that’s what it is
How can I let you know
I’m more than the dress and the voice?
Just reach me out and then
You will know that you’re not dreaming
Darling, so there you are
With that look on your face
As if you’d never hurt
As if you’d never down
Shall I be the one for you
Who pinches you softly but sure
If frown is shown and then
I will know that you are no dreamer
AGh! Where those ninjas cutting onions?! Seriously! I remember how me and my classmates would always listen and sing to this song coz we all loved this game. Yep... Those wonderful memories... I miss being a kid. ;(
nearly twenty years later this still gets me right in the feels
My favorite memory of this song is when I was at a Chinese buffet and they played this on the speakers.
Laguna n raine bit still crushes me 😭😂
Also this would make a great wedding song. Its just that beautiful
I love this song. I love FFVIII , the best!
Squall❤️Rinoa best game I ever played I would play it all over again
After all this years this song still be one of best sadness song for me
One of the best FF endings ever.
bruh i watched my dad play this when i was five, im gonna cry in my french class...
A world for beautiful people.
When there is a Balamb Garden of feelings flying over you...
Final Fantasy 8 was an experience, it had everything an amazing game needed, strong characters, love, hate, betray, deaths, suprises, an outstanding score, great visuals, it could easily deserve a movie and a PS4 or 5 remake !
I NEED FINAL FANTASY VIII HD !!!! SQUARE-ENIX MAKES IT HAPPEN !
Wish granted!
10 years + more
FF8 really healed our heartbreak over FF7
I-it's beautiful :') I cried with this game...
For the record this is best video game ending I’ve ever watched.
SPOILER ALERT
Laguna is Squall's father.
So if Laguna had gotten together with Julia, Rinoa and Squall would've been siblings... Chew on that.
*****
I hadn't noticed. Is that what this song is about?
haha I never noticed until 6 years after I played the game!!!
***** it was teh song rinoas mother wrote for laguna
Another spoil squall is dead or my favorite theory, laguna is rinoa father, then squall and rinoa are sibilings
2021 still listening. This song is legend!
this was my fav FF.
I just found and played this song when my FATHER suddenly came and sing along... wow
Abdul Karim such a cool father :) how old is he?
2019 anyone? Can’t believe the 20th anniversary is upon us!
I played this game back then when I was 13yrs and now Im 28 and still my the best of the best game i played. I miss the love story. Great story.
The last of the masculine main protagonists.
Really great music in this game
True. But Zidane wasn't that bad of a protagonist. Not as badass as Squall, but still not too bad
Squall was far from being the standard "masculine" model. He looks too visual kei-ish to me
Laguna is more masculine than him, even considering the hair.
No better game shall be done on this planet, I assure you.
