@@DaveJonesproductions your alien fanfilm project, how did you find that xenomorph model, is it possible to convert that model into an fbx or dae file. i been considering of making an alien film myself using makehuman character creator, but i first have to make it into a proper story for it.
@@Joshuajacobson95 Not sure about converting it. I got it fully rigged for poser.
People ask me what the most challenging part of making this film. For me it was the scene when Ross gets splashed with the acid. That 15 second scene took over a month on its own. And it took multiple render attempts to get it right. I have been using poser and 3ds max for 17 years and I picked up a few tricks along the way. So Ross had his clothing, his main body, a muscle layer, an organ layer and a skeleton bone layer. All were linked together so the animation was in sync. Each part had animated texture sequences applied including an animated opacity texture. I created the clothing, skin, muscles, organs and bone to melt away in Adobe after effects using the opacity layer to complete the effect. I then imported the scene into 3ds max with all the animated textures and then applied a fumefx smoke layer to his chest, arm bone and a little bit on his skull. Hit render (4 times) and the end result is a month of trial and error

I know this is 2 years old but I been watching a lot of alien videos and I just seen Alien Romulus last night. This is very impressive work you have done here. I love how you included the prisoner turning into an ovamorph. Something that hasn’t been seen since the deleted scene of the first movie. I really hope you continue to make these types of films. Whether it’s another Alien or a completely new project. You obviously have the ability to make amazing art. I wish you nothing but the best in your future ventures. Keep going with it!

Graphics: 10/10
Attention to detail: 10/10
Sound FX: 11/10
Music 10/10 (But some parts felt like they needed music to boost them.)
Voice acting: 6/10 (Depends on character, they range from 4 to 7.)
Character animation: 6/10 (A point extra for single-man development.)
I totally get that this was a one-man-development project, but I had to give a fair opinion, because a lot of what you were going for, you NAILED. The video log was insane, and 🤣 at the finger crank. Great job all and all.
I really liked the build-up and setting up your characters. Most horror films these days can't go ten minutes without blowing their load, if you'll forgive my crudeness. Very well done
I was trying very hard to keep to the theme of the original film. I could have spent longer with character development and non pacing scenes to make the film longer and add more layers but because this is a cgi fan film you don't want to lose attention from the audience with too much ambient stuff of characters playing cards or generally slowing everything down. I think I put in enough to keep it engaging, not to mention it would have taken longer than the 2 years I spent making it

Brilliant! It had the flavor, the sound, and the theme of the original, and yet told another story. I was completely engaged. Amazing.

This is an absolute masterpiece!! I can tell that you truly love the Alien franchise and wanted to do right by it even if this probably took you years to make sure all the details were right, I applaud your dedication and effort to make this fan film as close to the first movie and 2nd with the Queen molting at the end. (Nice nod, btw!)

I just stumbled onto your channel after I was having a marathon of alien game walkthroughs watching and your channel came up and I got to say this is by far one of the greatest fan projects I've ever seen you honestly captivated like the original alien vibe and like blended it with the lore with the alien molt and such this was fantastic and great inclusion with the isolation bit that was a great touch and great use of special order oh my gosh dude this was perfect 10 out of 10 I hope you continue doing more projects like this in the future and wish you the best of luck on your future endeavors
thank you. I tried to keep as close to the lore as possible and tie in everything based on the true timeline. This project was a labor of love that took me over 2 years to make. I planned that my next project after this one was going to be a predator story, following a youngling yautja from the homeworld get accepted for his rite of passage and take his first hunt on earth during the caveman era
Interesting choice on that I wish you the best of luck on that and I'll definitely be watching because I don't see too many creators nowadays creating like this kind of method and if you've already moved on to unreal engine I can only just imagine the work that you're probably going to be doing in the future whether people predator or alien or an AVP as long as it is you did a fantastic job on this solid literally I was actually perplexed over the fact of the amount of like the build up the suspense and honestly I noticed when you did the egg morph bit I'm assuming you were going back for like the first route nice touch on that by the way really nice touch
Sitting here after a short painful illness this was brilliant - love the story and the connections to the originals and it kept me from sleeping the day away on the sofa xxxxx

Best fan project I’ve ever seen, so glad I stumbled across it.
That was the first time in ALIEN history that a Man was the survivor instead of the overly used female Ripley type characters which has been done to death. Awesome story!
By the look of the end scene, the Xenomorph was the only survivor😉 But i get your point👍
This is a really well done fan film. It held my attention the whole time, I liked how you you tied in references from the game and movie. I can see myself watching this over many times.
This was just too good !! I was captivated. I cherish the 2 years you spent to design this CGI movie !! It started slow but I had patience and the final 30 minutes were awesome !! My heart is pumping in terror. :) Good luck in all your future projects. PS: Not many people can say they made a movie by themselves. So, I must respect your work much more !

Great stuff! You have shown that Alien can also be a comedy. I laughed so much, especially at the characters voices, the robot and the chestburster. The storyline was very good indeed.

Thank you sir. I have been an alien fan since my teens and I spent months doing extensive research from novels, to comics, to studying all the military ranks used in this universe and what all those unique ship logos from the nostromo mean (airlock, medway, pressure suit etc.. ) just so that I could keep the story grounded and within the lore of the films. It may not be avatar level of cgi but I am one man trying to tell a story
I really liked how you build up the storyline and activities of the crew. No made rush get into the gore like most fan films probably would've done.
Yooo Romulus totally did the "grabbing the alien from the Nostromo wreckage" thing too! An idea so great the elites took it!

while this is obviously not the greatest CGI ever, this is to be expected for an independent CGI movie on account of being very limited in resources. what the movie lacks in quality CGI, it makes up for in atmosphere and mood. You caught the complete mood, feel and essence that we all love the Alien franchise for. Excellent work man. This was a very enjoyable experience. Whatever you're planning to do from here on out: I wish you all the best.
@Timberwolftrass I appreciate the comments. I run a mid range pc, I don't have a full team of animators or a render farm, or access to professional voice actors. I'm a self taught 3d animator and I have worked as a security officer for 30 years, so I'm very limited on what I'm able to make, that said I tried to make the best with what I have to work with and I am a very big fan of the alien universe.

The details from Nostromo mixed in to this new ship, was a good idea, and nicely done. The story plot was good and exciting. I enjoyed this film from start to end. Well done. Held my attention throughout and I'm a BIG Aliens fan. SINGLE raised eyebrow only due to being a retired trauma EMT with the poor captain taking an axe to the chest. And walking away afterwards. Ouch! Just a single nitpick out of a true masterpiece.

Great little flick. The way Graves died was probably the illest way for anyone in an Alien film. I thought for sure the ax wound to the Captain's heart was gunna kill him before he made it down the corridor. Dude was leaking.

Hi Dave. If you feel compelled to do another one: Where is the biomass coming from for all the goo? When are the characters not going to abandon logic? Why are huge doors circumvented by 'drop ceilings'/access ladders? Why aren't doors lockable and how would Aliens know how to use them? Why would embryos know about cryo tubes? These are all faults (and many more) from everybody that has ever worked on these stories from the beginning. I absolutely love all the effort everybody has made in bringing their versions to life. Can someone, please, give us a story that does not have plot holes large enough for a studio to ram another bad prequel/sequel through? I will donate to a story that doesn't leave us saying, 'Yeah, but'. Great effort on your part.

This is a fantastic movie. I came back to this after seeing Alien Romulus, and I am mixed. Somethings good, Somethings bad. Bad things, Nostromo wreckage says Nostromo on it. Some might say Where's the problem?" but as any alien fan knows, the Nostromo never had any signage on it. Ash CGI was awful, and so was the Alien, human hybrid. Caliee Spainey doesn't have much emotion. She has to now work for another 5 years or more because the company had extended her contract and moved her to the mines. Where people are dying from breathing in shit from the mining and the other dangers of mining. Good, great visuals, Jackson's star looks real and feels like a real world, a good premise. But could have been done better. So great job on this.
She's not going back to the mines.

@@paulbarrett5791 The movie ends with her escaping to a planet which is stated throughout the movie to be independent of Weyland-Yutani. How you can call a movie crap if you don't even pay attention is something I definitely don't know.

@paulbarrett5791 I don't understand what your problem with that plot point is. They assigned her to work on the mines and she went on the heist because she doesn't want to be worked to death by Weyland-Yutani. Not sure why that's a negative for you.

Yes, I was going to make one right after finishing this. But as this took 2 years and a lot of effort I decided to put that idea on the shelf. For the moment at least

lol this one alone took just over 3 years to make. however I promised everyone that after i had a break from 3D animating because this project really took it out of me, that i was going to make a standalone predator story where we follow a youngblood on the predator homeworld as he gets selected to perform his rite of passage during the caveman era on earth

What’s ironic is if the alien franchise actually did a movie like this it’d be a hit bc yes it’s the similar format but different characters a different story a bigger ship a bigger crew, watching the actual crew slowly be picked off

VVery good cgi movie pal. You have got talent and skill. It's just well made, it evoked emotional sadness at the end as the captain is trying to escape. I didn't know what would happen, and was very sad for the captain. That's tough work making a kind of cartoon. If you get what I mean.

Very good,as a fan made film i loved it you retained alot of elements from the original masterpiece you also said you would be moving to the U5E, that will improve the overall effect and feel of your projects just a minor observation, in space there's no turbulence and ships don't come to a dead stop, I'm not hating because I really did enjoy this masterpiece and yes it takes alot of time and effort to produce a piece of work like this i and many others really do appreciate your work cheers from 🇦🇺 can't wait to see what you can do with the U5E😊
