I can't listen to Pink Floyd because they reminds me of a bad time. But I missed them sometimes. This song doesn't hurt even though also contains the extremely sad story. This is a new experience for me, it's something about ability to get through hard times without getting depression. Thank you so much, Mr. Hornsby.
This is absolutely one of his best songs ever. Giving the old man a salute is our country and being a fortunate son is the shear bliss of returning home from war. There are many that never made it back as you can see if you visit Arlington National Cemetery. I had six Great Uncles in WWII. I will never forget a short conversation with my Uncle John. I asked him Uncle John are you going to see Saving Private Ryan? He said no Michael I’m not. You can see war and hear war, I smelt war it was my Brothers blood on the beach when we landed in Normandy. That conversation still brings me to tears it was one of the most moving conversations I ever had with anyone that served in WWII. Miss you Great Uncle John, Robert, Rollin, Francis, Thomas, Jack, and forever grateful to Amby that paid the ultimate sacrifice for our Nation. God Bless you all.
I appreciate Bruce Hornsby always following his muse, often far afield from his early hits, but he is such a supremely gifted pop music composer and performer that one only wishes he did much more in this vein throughout his career. Emotional and moving.
My husband of 43 years. Army. Chu Lui. 69. Got home and we fell in love. Lost him of gliobkastoma in 15. He cherished his years after Vietnam. And I had him. Falling in love with me. Two great girls afterwards. I love him and respect him so much still.
Please please vote wisely this year. Trump hates veterans. Hates this country. Wants this country to embellish him. Please. Biden’s o,d bujjt we gotta save our constitution. Laws keep us where we’ve been. Please. Please. Vote Biden.
I had the time in my life thst fell on love with a Vietnam vet.Army. Chu lei 69. He got home and we fell on love. 10 weeks later we married. 42 years. 2/great kids. He’s gone now. gliobkastona brain cancer. My god how much we love him still
Powerful arrangement of two great songs. As a Vet myself, thank you Bruce. Some of my friends never came back and I consider myself a fortunate son.....
We all are gonna be in the new place. Hard to figure thst out sonetines but we are on a path. We have to stay strong but we have to chalkenge the cruelty coming our way
I comment constantly on this song. God Bless all of our heros that came home abd those that gave their all. I got my guy home but he never forgot. Hope the angels are listening now ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️☮️☮️☮️☮️☮️☮️☮️☮️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️☮️☮️☮️☮️☮️☮️
I was fortunate enough to see Bruce for the first time at the small club Karlsson in Stockholm back in 1986. Huey Lewis joined on stage for a couple of songs before returning to Konserhuset where he and the News played the same night. Bruce's music have brought nothing but sheer joy to me ever since. There are a few really great artists/musicians who really stand out as special and unique in this world and I would like to thank Bruce for a lifetime achievement of absolutely outstanding piano playing and brilliant composing. Thank you from the bottom of my heart! / Ulf Lovéus
This song always makes me think of my pops and the experiences he went through in Vietnam and what he may still carry w him It makes me ponder classic American values and takes me to a peaceful place in my thoughts
After all these years, Bruce's music continues to bring smiles and emotions to me. This piece of live performances will continue to inspire and bring joy long after I'm gone. Ohh!!! They don't make it like this anymore Bruce. Thank you
Bruce's piano music and song combined with his other musical instrumentation from the band certainly calms the tension in any person and brings both harmony and peace to the mind and spirit of any individual.
I needed some Bruce Hornsby to play loud for my bass playing neighbour. We have the same taste in music-it has to be great. And I _never_ have auto-play "on" but, I did today…thank goodness or I wouldn't have heard this. I feel choked up. Cheers, from Toronto ♥
Mit viel Kampf und Uebung und nochmals üben hast du heute die Musik erkämpft. Und du hast die Musik erreicht! Gratuliere Dir und allen Mitspielern. Danke! ♥
I was unsuccessfully fighting back tears hearing this song for the first time today lol! How can today be the the first time that I have ever heard this masterpiece lol! Absolutely stunning!
I fell asleep watching RUclips and the algorithm led me to this for some strange reason, I love Bruce but never knew he knocked out a bit of Floyd 😮 and it's actually very impressive 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Got to see him the first time when he was the headliner at the Concord Pavilion in '88. Then some years later when he opened for Bonnie Raitt at Shoreline. Then in the 90s when he did a show at Concord with Jackson Browne, David Lindley, Shawn Colvin and Raitt. Great shows, all of them.
