    Leaking IC? Well. Oil melts links between plastic and aluminium.
    After changing the IC, it is nice to do oil catch tank or just separate crankcase vent from the intake. Connection to intake is right after the air filter box.
    I have chosen the easiest method and connected 1,5 meter hose to the crankcase vent and guided it under the car near the exhaust (ofc intake hole was covered). No more oil in the IC, no more leaking.
    Great vid as always,
    Cheers!

      HI,
      Yes a bit of oil weeped out it was the first sign the intercooler had went bad, being down low i wonder if it was because of damage from stones.
      Is this the pipe that comes out the side of the rocker cover to the air intake? What is the ofc hole?
      I had thought perhaps that the oil in there might have been due to the turbo weeping with age, but i suppose the crankcase ventilation system may have had as much oil in there also.

    • @SzwarcuKX5
      @SzwarcuKX5 6 лет назад

      ofc = of course :)
      Yes. It is that pipe.
      Turbo will never push so much oil trough the pipes. Distance from turbo to IC is quite long in this engine.
      Crankcase breather connects to the top of the air intake system in this car, so if you turn off your car and go home, oil condensates and drips slowly through the pipes down to the bottom of the IC :)
      I've heard quite few of 2.0 HDi's in 406's. They always whistle a bit. Even new turbo didn't eliminate whistling sound.
      Sorry if my english isn't perfect.
      Cheers!

    • @peugeotCitroen2CV
      @peugeotCitroen2CV  6 лет назад +1

      Yes the turbo whistle is just a part of the HDi engine, they don't tend to blow turbos too often as the engine is in a relatively low state of tune considering its displacement.

      I have a loss of power

      @@simsimsam6190 With the maf sensor the engine management light comes on? There could be a boost leak either from the intercooler or one of the pipes has perished, egr valve clogged. Might be worth having the car plugged into a diagnostic machine.

      Sometimes it can cause a fault code, may be worth plugging it into a diagnostic computer to see what it says. There are other things that could cause the loss of power.

    Can anybody help me with a video or instruction to replace the brake booster in the front right?
    Got an 2.2 HDI

      Hi there,
      i dont have a video for it. Ive taken one out in a breakers yard as i wanted the mechanism to try and put into a 305, it would move the servo/booster out of the road of the inlet manifold when putting in the 1.9Td.
      Anyhow i did it in a breakers yard, with the engine already out. Think there were bolts behind the servo, just dont have any pictures i could help you with atm.
      Try the 406 owners club facebook page, someone is bound to have changed the servo and might be able to get you sorted a bit faster.

    Hi I have a problem in the car 406 tir / min does not exceed 3 why? Is the problem in turbo?

      Hi
      The car is not going past 3000 RPM
      Are there any other symptoms that the car has apart from this? Is it making a funny noise, is there any lights or warning messages appearing?
      The car is in limp home mode, something will be causing this to happen, typically this is accompanied with the engine management light. There are many reasons why this can happen and to avoid guessing i would recommned that you have the car plugged into a Peugoet Planet diagnostics machine. If you are unable to find someone with one ebay has plenty of them for under £50 and they are quite easy to use.
      It may be possible to have the car plugged into a more generic fault code reader but most 406s are not fully OBD2 compliant and generic code readers do not always give accurate results.

    Hi! Can you please help me? I have an Peugeot 406 2.0 HDI, Siemens injection ( RHY). Even since octomber-november when the temperature drops below 15 degrees, it starts very hard...it needs 2-3 tries, and after what it starts, it blows a lot of white-blue smoke. After that, everything is fine, but after 4-5 hours, dependind on how cold is it outside, again the same struggle .I mention that I've changed injectors, injection pump, glow plugs, glow plugs relay, coolant temp sensor and on the tester it shows no error. I don't know what else to try. Any sugestions please?! Sorry for my bad English. If it needs, I can also send an video with a start-up at 4 degreese. Thank you in advice!

    • @peugeotCitroen2CV
      @peugeotCitroen2CV  6 лет назад

      Hi,
      For a start its probably best not to just replace parts without first diagnosing the problem.
      What "tester" are you using? A peugeot planet 2000 will give proper fault code readings on the 406 most generic tools do not communicate properly with them. A peugeot planet 2000 can be bought off ebay for less than £100 and is worthwhile having if working on an old peugeot.
      Hard starting in the cold, is the car slow to crank? What condition is the battery and starter in? Have the battery tested by someone with a proper battery tester, the starter may also be showing signs of wear which will also affect its starting performance.
      Regarding the White/Blue smoke, Does the car smoke at all when driving?

      peugeotCitroen2CV Here's a video from Sunday morning at 6-7 degrees, after -2 on the night ruclips.net/video/zr66op47OL0/видео.html . Car have been tested on the representance, I don't know what tester have they used, but they told me that they don't have an conclusion...on tester is shows no erorr. They said it might be from ECU or maybe cylinder head gasket broken. After what coolant rise at 70-80-90 degrees, it only remain o little trace of smoke...not noticable giving the fact that my final muffler it's broken. It's next on the repair list, after solving this cold start problem. Thank you for responding to my problem!

      I forgot to mention that the battery wasn't checked, but it was bought in 2013 and I the problem appeared on novermber that year, and every winter since then, I had this problem.

      Hi, im not too sure what it is, it would help to get a proper pp2000 plugged into it to see what if any errors are coming from the car, it could be a sensor causing this issue.
      Your best bet is to ask on the owners club.

      Hi, no need to apologise.
      However there is the 406 owners club www.406oc.co.uk
      Its probably best asking on there, much easier to put links to photos/videos and get responses from a few other 406 owners.
