That guitar solo gets me every time !!!!! Yes....they are really genre less band and every song is so tasteful !!!!!! Kanami is so melodic with her playing....you can hear the Carlos Santana influences in her playing.
Band-Maid incorporates many different genres and styles into their songs. You never know what to expect when listening to one of their songs for the first time. I would call Daydreaming a power ballad. And yes, if Kanami added some ping pong delay to what she is playing you would have a U2 song. (LOL)
I've been a fan of Band Maid since 2015 and this song is always at the top of my list to listen to. Every member contributes unique flavors that I just can't get enough of. It's a beautiful song.
Glad you are enjoying Band-Maid. I had a feeling you would. The more you listen the more you will appreciate their talent as musicians and song writers!
The writing and layers is so well done. Mincho's solo is the highlight but I can't help but say what does throughout the song gets me. She never let's up constantly changing to what suits the song, in the style of Kanami.
I stumbled across Band-Maid in my RUclips feed about 4 years ago. Band-Maid has a nostalgic sound that attracts a wide demographic, but also is particularly attractive to older rock fans who don't mind that they combine their 'pop' vocal style with their hard rock instrumentation. The thing that older fans appreciate is the wide range of musical real estate Band-Maid happily covers: pop, punk, prog, jazz, fusion, rap, metal, funk, and that they mine every past genre for what works for Band-Maid in the present. Kanami and her fellow band mates love to experiment with the songwriting process and that has gained them a unique "I wasn't expecting that!" sound all their own. Band-Maid has created a unique space where every member of the band has the opportunity to grow as musicians, they set stretch goals for each other, and they've been known to write music too complex for them to perform until they've upped their skill levels. There are no prima donnas here. Band-Maid will surprise you as they also have surprised themselves.
The mixing of their songs get a lot of praise from their fans ... hard to believe that their live performances are mixed just as good, if not, better. With ANY of their songs, studio or live, you can pick an instrument and listen to it from start to finish ... That's why it's always good to listen to each of their songs a minimum of 4 times.
They played Daydreaming at their 10th anniversary concert at Yokohama Arena last year (2023), and Kanami played a very meditative solo intro to it -- great, and typical Kanami from the heart.
I hadn't thought of U2 but as soon as you said it i COMPLETELY heard it. It's interesting because I always think Kanami's solo is extremely BIG COUNTRY (Stuart Adamson, RIP). Does anyone else here that bagpipish quality?
DAYDREAMING tells a heartbreaking story of unfulfilled longing. I wonder if you can feel that in the music, even without knowing the lyrics. A feeling of urgency builds with each verse. That sense of unbearable agony is expressed eloquently in KANAMI’s solo.
During the first few years of Band-Maid, their management company didn't allow the girls to use their own compositions, so their sound was more pop and simple. Over time they started getting more interesting rock-oriented material from their writer staff, later in 2016 they finally got control of the compositions in their albums... so their style became more complex and varied. In the last four years Band-Maid has changed a bit, they are still a pop-punk rock band with a lot of influences, but their sound has become a bit heavier, a bit faster, with a bit more industrial and direct sounding production... before, they used to play more with guitar riffs and their production sounding was more "refined", "Daydreaming" comes from that time. Ironically I think it was from their single "Different" that the band started the change towards something different. So, depending on which of their approximately thirty-five MVs, from their eleven-year career you watch, the experience can be very different. 😉
absolutely beautiful song that still rips my heart out after almost 7 years. especially kanami's solo and those shots of miku singing 'daydreaming , dreaming of you'. i never tire of this.
I know you said you have 20+ songs already queued up to listen to in no particular order, but i would recommend Rinne (Reincarnation) next. Some critics back in this earlier era said they were going towards more "pop rock" so they released "Rinne" to shut them up. You'll see!
Your first three Band Maid songs were kinda one-offs and wouldn’t give you a clear picture on what their core sound is. “Real Existence” was in that arena, so there will be more of that high energy stuff to discover. “Play” official live video is a great example of their energy and interaction with the audience. I hope it’s on your list somewhere 👍🏽
I think you should stop comparing bandmaid to U2 even if it's just this song the bandmaid sound is just that it's insulting to compare them to those hacks bais there own sound kanami is a genius composer remember this for future reference
@@starocean62 Wow 😲 Maybe little bit out of line to comment like that. Of course this song got some U2-vibes. That airy sound does that. I don’t think That’s comparing..And yes..I love Band-Maid and Kanami is my alltime favourite musician 🤘
Well.. he isn't wrong. I listened to a deal of U2 up to Achtung Baby. They kind of lost me with Zooropa.. (Got to admit that "The Wanderer" w/ Johnny Cash is pretty epic). A lot of Joshua tree was based around the Edges delay/echo effect, so when I heard the same here I got the same resemblances.

Kanami was recently given a signature guitar by PRS. She's the first Japanese artist to be given a signature guitar by the company.
Presented to her by Paul himself!
Not only that but the first female to get one, the other 9 are all male
Everytime I hear this song, I cry tears of joy and happiness. There is something magic in this one. And of course Kanami’s solo sounds heavenly 🔥❤️
One of their most beautifully melodic song, "PAGE" is another one that's right up there with "Daydreaming".
So many different sides to Band-Maid, all as beautiful as the other

Great reaction! A short but emotional solo, one of my favorites. I like that they play different styles of rock, keeps things interesting.
Band Maid doesn't have a genre.... Band Maid IS a genre !! 🤘😎
Glad you are enjoying Band-Maid. I had a feeling you would. The more you listen the more you will appreciate their talent as musicians and song writers!
One of their beautiful mid-tempo songs. The recently did an entire concert with some of their mid-tempo songs. Concert was called "Medium in Summer."
Great reaction, it seem like during the solo you had a bit of a daydream of your own during that time. Thanks for continuing to react to Band-Maid.
Thanks for watching!

I'm glad you have plenty of time if you do one per week it will take you over two years to get through everything. 🤔 What an awesome ride though.
That is my goal, one a week roughly.

Great reaction. I'm glad you mentioned the bass. I'm sure we'll see some more great Misa bass lines in the future.👍

A fantastic song from the creative mind of Kanami! Her favorite composition, at least up to that point! Maybe still.
absolutely beautiful song that still rips my heart out after almost 7 years. especially kanami's solo and those shots of miku singing 'daydreaming , dreaming of you'. i never tire of this.
🤘🤘🤘
この曲のKANAMIのソロは Guns N' RosesのNovember RainのSlashのソロを思い出して凄く心に響きます。

Sounds great, thank you.
Great reaction, Brian, looking forward to you continuing down the pigeon hole! Rock on!
Thank you Mike.

The delay definitely gives it U2 vibes.
This song will play at my wake...
Ahh, thanks! U2 is a perfect comparison in my opinion.
Glad you think so!
can you react kanami signature guitar from PRS? i hope I wanna know your views or reaction on that guitar
Sure.

Chill out, it's just a comparison because of the style of the song. and he specifically said "elements of".
Well.. he isn't wrong.

@@andreaspedersen3952 Exactly same happened to with U2.
The last U2 Record I bought was “All That You Can’t Leave Behind” but I can’t say I still listen to them anymore. Thanks for the comment.
