There's now an air assist kit for the A40640, that significantly improves the cutting process. However diaphragm-based pumps should be avoided because the airflow is not regular.

Surprised you didn’t use something cheap like MDF for the engraver housing; thats what I made my 3D printer filter box out of (but you probably have a lot more scrap wood that is available to you for cheap so…)
Yeah, I had some scrap panels salvaged from old furniture. A bit overkill, but we were gonna throw them away anyway.
