    You will love Lightburn David. I’ve been using diode lasers for two years now and Lightburn is hands down the best. What I like about the we create software (don’t own one, but from what I’ve seen) is when material is selected, it puts a test card in the corner and you just select the finish you like. Great video

    That box came out incredibly, I am loving your pieces done with lasers that don’t look like they were lasered!
    You’d be surprised that 20w probably could cut 1/2” walnut especially if you can add in your own air assist. In my experience the wattage on these 20w diodes lasers seem actually more powerful than what you’d see on say a 60w Co2. That being said I just keep ignoring the emails from Wecreate 😂 so I can’t say for sure with their machine in particular.

    Great video for laser starters! Having had expensive lasers like you, I would NOT recommend getting a filtration unit for cutting wood, the regular pre-filter and the post (expensive) carbon filter will choke very quickly due to the wood resins (especially woods like balsa and liteply). They're ok for engraving "tat" on aluminium tumblers etc. 'tho.

    • @espressomatic
      @espressomatic 11 месяцев назад

      The problem is that if you dont have filtration you're opening yourself up to neighbor and by-law action if you're exhausting fumes outside.

    I have looked seriously at adding this machine to my laser room ... but the Lightburn issue has kept me from pulling the string. Unless something has changed recently, the "Lightburn compatibility" claim is a bit misleading. Unless I am mistaken, you can create your project in Lightburn, but must export it to a GCode file, which can then be loaded & run in the Wecreat. On my other 2 diode lasers, there is no need to export/import files, and Lightburn directly controls all laser functions. Otherwise, this is a great machine.

    Seems pretty great for a first laser. I bought an Xtools d1 10w with a bunch of accessories on sale a year or so ago for about $1000. Still had to get a fan to vent out my window and build an enclosure. Plus a 3D printed z-axis extension so I could keep the risers on at all times. All that to say everything this includes for the price is pretty incredible and way more convenient! I’m kind of jealous. One thing I liked about the Xtools D1 was that I could put any size material under it since it was just a frame I could place on top of things… then I built my enclosure and quickly realized I will likely NEVER place my laser on a large object and it stays in the enclose which makes it basically like this one… but significantly less convenient. Plus I had to built it and it doesn’t have a camera. Tempted to sell what I have and get this instead.

Will see probably Monday if they can process the materials (.008" thin sheet steel and .014" copper clad pcb) that I am using. Thanks David for presenting this possible solution to my fabrication task.Edit 2: To their credit they did get back to me today. Sadly my materials are not what they can cut. Dang!

    Wow! love your WeCreat laser demo - great job!👍 That said, in the video section at 13:50, you mentioned you wouldn’t recommend an Etsy store using this laser. I have to disagree. There are tons of videos of folks using the Glowforge Aura for their Etsy shop, and that is only a 6-watt laser. Would I recommend any of the Glowforge lasers? Absolutely NOT! I will be posting a video explaining WHY I DON’T Recommend GLOWFORGE LASERS on my RUclips channel soon:
    ruclips.net/channel/UCHWUzECNry0JBD1xzY8P1dA
    I recently ordered the WeCreat with Air Filter and Rotary attachments, which should arrive any day. WeCreat is a major step up compared to the Glowforge Aura, being a 20-watt laser versus the 6-watt for the Aura. The Aura is targeted towards crafters, just like WeCreat. The benefits of using the WeCreat to create almost any crafting ideas are far superior to the Glowforge Aura. Yes, this video is not about Glowforge or a comparison, but I bring the Glowforge up because it’s another brand of laser focusing on crafters as owners for this laser are selling their products on Etsy that are limited to just 6 watts. If crafters are selling their products on Etsy made from a low watt laser, then WeCreat is no exception, plus the possibilities anyone can create from a 20watt laser.
    So, can you imagine what can be done with the WeCreat, which is a 20-watt laser? If you’re suggesting mass production with the WeCreat, you're absolutely correct (to a degree). But in no way would I suggest that the WeCreat isn't suitable for Etsy or any form of online storefront.
    Most 20-watt lasers are a sweet spot for crafters. They allow for intricate fine engraving designs while still having the ability to cut. Many types of woods, greeting cards, fabric, mugs, vinyl, or tumblers that were engraved or cut from 20-watt lasers are sold on Etsy and other online storefronts. 20-watt lasers are becoming a growing trend within the craft industry, and WeCreat is no exception. Therefore, to anyone reading my comments, I would highly recommend the WeCreat. WeCreat Valentine’s sale ended. It was on sale for $1,199. But, another sale is happening at this time of posting, $1,299. I would wait for the sale to come to $1,199. That is my suggestion. 😎

    They lost at $1200 for 20w. 20W diodes are notoriously easy to overheat as people try to tax how much it can do and a diode laser never should really be ran more than 80% power. For that kind fo money regardless how nicely its packaged with other features, id be expecting at least 40-50w diode. Resolution doesn't matter by wattage, as that is purely properly setting things up in the process. Having a 40w laser wont run you any better or worse resolution at 25% power setting than a 20W laser would at 50% power setting.

  • @espressomatic
    @espressomatic 11 месяцев назад +2

    Woah. This is a laser engraver. Stop. The other ones you mention at the start of the video are laser cutters. In other words, diode laser on this thing versus CO2 laser on the others. CO2 lasers are close to an order or magnitude more expensive (in general) than diode. So while $1200 is an attractive price for a fully enclosed laser product, this isn't some magical amazing deal when comparing against Gweike, Glowforge, Polar, etc. Diode lasers are cheap.
    One of the reasons I'd need a lser is to cut acrylic. Clear acrylic. And no diode laser can do that. :(
    As far as stencils go, another good use, Cricut or Silouette is a much cheaper option for that, and you can go unlimited length.
