    The Samurai, Ronin & Ninja sword fights are the biggest expectations ; As well as, every time Hiroyuki Sonada is on screen. He doesn’t even have to speak to draw you in. Just his presence is extremely charismatic.

    I'm into Japanese culture and I'm infatuated with the Samurai I read and watch everything I can when it comes to Samurai so I'm excited for this show. The only downfall I see is it's a FX cable tv promotion so we can't expect to see much "R" rated action and Samurai lure is "R" rated

      Have you seen the main trailer
      There's a beheading ,right Infront of the camera ,I agree it won't be like the baby cart films or kill bill with blood pumping 15 feet in the air ,But what I've read ,The research gone into the production will make this one of the most accurate depictions of 17th century life in feudal Japan

    Pretty good summary overall.
    As you mentioned there were MANY wars & battles worthy of mentioning which Nobunaga and Hideyoshi respectively won during their conquests which would honestly make up two or three prequels.
    The era was called “Sengoku jidai” from 1467 until the Tokugawa final victory in 1615 (Toranaga in the book) which ushered in the Tokugawa shogunate and Edo period from 1603 (Really 1615)-1868. Tokugawa won the battle of Sekigahara in 1603, and finally vanquished Hideyoshi’s son in 1615.

    Pistols are early 18th century. Events are early 17th century. So there’s time travel for pros too.

      There were definitely muskets & pistols in the 17th century & even earlier. Guns were introduced to Japan by the Portuguese in 1593. Hand Canon's & firearms date all the way back to the 1400s

    Watching the trailers all I see is darkness. I get it, nasty war is coming, but surely we understand that and don't need the drama here? That said Im looking forward to this. I am rewatching the miniseries (which I saw ad a youth on broadcast TV) and have read the book.

    No word on the Original series? That this is actually a remake?

    • @therogueprince5553
      @therogueprince5553 3 месяца назад +3

      This isn’t a remake of the 80s version. the 80s version wasn’t an original story, it was an adaptation of the shogun novel by James clavell. This series is simply another adaptation of the novel, not a reboot of the 80s series.
