  • My small/cheap side project! Single bases of Epic ACW's to replace the plastic figures in the old' Battle Cry' board game. The board will be replaced with a printed mat with a 75mm 13 x 9 grid (from Tinywargames, UK). I'm far more a painter than gamer these days so this just suits me. A few conversions along the way!

Lovely work, I find these epic actually really nice to paint. Do for customers like you do myself as well, thinking about doing some of these ACW like you for a side project too, thanks for your tips and take on them. I'm looking at cutting the stands myself and thinking of making smaller square stands for regiments with an avarage of 5 stands per regiment. Rules will fit with anything I do I'm sure. Cheers.

The Epics are perfect for a side project as so cheap to buy and fast to paint up. The ACW's can also be cut in half quite cleanly by just cutting through the base first then gently bending. Thanks for leaving a commend and sorry I took so long to reply!

Lovely work are they varnished and if so what with I like the look they look sort of satin or is that just the lighting

Many thanks. I use satin varnish on most of my figures, gives just a slight sheen and lifts the colours.

Really nice work. What’s your recipe for the union blue please?

Thank you :) For my Union blue shades I use: Jackets - Vallejo 'Blue' 70.925, then add a touch of Flat Blue highlights. Trousers/pants: I run Flat Blue right across the legs front and back and then a quick highlight with 'Azure' it's the prefect shade for the Yankee faded blue and much more accurate than the Sky Blue often seen on figures :) Hope this is useful.
