- Welcome to the next video in the Gallic Wars series. In this video im sharing the process by which i paint the @warlordgames Caesarian Romans... quickly. This has been a highly requested video so ive shown everythig i do with the exception of the basing (which i cover in my Gaul video which can be found here • CAESAR'S GALLIC WARS -... ).
Again I would like to stress that these are not going to win any competitions, it’s not that kind of project. There are a lot of places where I could go into more detail and add layers but this was about working quickly in order to be able to get them on the table .I hope you find it interesting :)

Thanks Martin! Love watching the process of people who actually know how to paint 👍
Haha really appreciate that, glad you enjoyed it 😁
Cracking job, beautiful painting...and basing!😍😍👍👍
Thanks very much 😁
Exceptional work mate, I really like this tutorial. Quick, simple but super effective. Top stuff!
Really appreciate that thanks 👍 just wanted to keep everything straightforward
Gorgeous work Martin,very nice basing
Thanks mate, I do love doing the bases 👍
Nice tutorial, Martin. I like what you did with the converted centurion. I might try that myself 👍
I think making the centurion stand out really helps to add character to the unit, glad you like it mate 👍
Greta video as always Martin, looking forward to seeing them on the table. Congrats on reaching the 40 Channel members 🎉
Really appreciate it thanks 😁
Great process. I’m starting mine in this fashion…😊
Really pleased you enjoyed it, thank you 😁
Lovely quick method with great results! I'll have to try those contrast paints. Cheers ;)
Thanks very much, they are great for this kind of project 👍
Thanks for a really useful tutorial. They look excellent. Can’t think why I haven’t subbed before now, but have just done so. Cheers Keith.
Thats awesome, thank you. Glad you liked the video 👍
Thanks, helpful to see how easy the contrast paint covers the figure.
Glad you found it interesting buddy 👍
Fantastic job looks amazing
Thanks, glad you like it 👍
Great vid, straight to it, simple and effective!
Cheers buddy 😁👍
Very nice. 👍 Despite being a "quick" paint job they look very effective
Thanks buddy, glad you like them 👍
Great video sir, very helpful too. I need to try your method.
Really appreciate it mate, glad you enjoyed it 😁👍
You’ve definitely optimised a great result with the time taken to achieve it. Apologies if I’ve just missed it, but do you have a video where you talk about your basing methods? How products do you use to get the extra height for Caesar, what’s your preferred base texture, and where did you get your very cool grasses tufts and bushes from?
Thanks very much, that's exactly what I'm going for, you could spend hours on these but it's about finding a trade off with time/output.
In my video about painting the Gauls, here: ruclips.net/video/f7T4bHSu1IU/видео.htmlsi=AtHhZoz7XvA6SgOJ
I cover the bases, it's the same way I do the Romans, the products should all be in the video but if I did miss any just ask 👍😁
@@7thson726 that’s perfect, thank you. Those tufts look great.
Great video, and I'm going to try your method of doing flesh on the weekend while working on my new 28mm Sharp Practice Army :).
I only really started using the contrast paints that I bought at CrackCon 1 doing my TMWWBK's project. Slowly getting the hang off using them and will soon ha e to order more from Ian at Boards and Swords :)
I find it's a really effective way of knocking out flesh heavy line troops, you can always add a few more highlights to ones you want to stand out 👍 contrast is a great tool to add to the box but it's best when combined with normal paints as well 😁
Cool figures and paint job. 👍
Thanks 👍 they have been great fun to work on
That purply white looks like the business. Might try some out. Been using the other contrast white and it works OK but not great
Agreed, it's more of a grey stain that one 👍
Bit late to the comments but I love what you’ve done with the command base
Thanks so much, glad you like it 😁
Opus bonum. Venisti, vidisti, vicisti!
Haha thank you 😁
Fantastico!
Thanks 👍
Could you please provide a link to where you got those bases from? Love those and would like to base my Romans in the same way
No problem, they are from Big Red Bat 👍 bigredbatshop.co.uk/collections/all/bases
Bang for buck painting. 👌
Thanks 😁
I'd love to do the Sabis in 28mm at some point. I haven't decided on Warlord or Aventine Miniatures yet though.
I'll be mixing some Ave tine in at some point for sure 👍
What are you using to keep those shields on that stick?
Just a blob of blu-tac 👍
i like.very good 🧡🙏🏼
Thanks 👍
Did you use varnish on the shield?
Yeah I use a Matt varnish over the shield and model once completed 👍
Thanks❤
Hmm, pass me my orcs this will work well for them!
I'm using the same method for when I do my "Hail Sauron" project 😁
What is the scale of the miniatures?
These are 28mm
Can we do it with any colors?
Sure, I just like the traditional stereotypical red for the Romans 😁 mostly, sometimes I add in white or black shields
What could be a good replacemen for abteilung pigment dark earth?
Soilworks and MIG also make a similar Dark Earth pigment that I've seen, but any dark brown would work 👍
Great, but you need other decals for your shields, because the late Republican army was not exactly the same
Thank you. The first few I use what comes in the set, I've used others, in later updates you can see these 👍 also , it's not something that particularly bothers me but there is further variation coming
