  • Laos, a landlocked gem nestled in the heart of Southeast Asia, invites travelers to uncover its enchanting blend of natural beauty, rich culture, and serene spirituality. Bordered by Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Myanmar, and China, this relatively untouched nation offers a unique allure for those seeking an off-the-beaten-path adventure.
One of Laos' most captivating natural wonders is the Kuang Si Waterfall, a mesmerizing cascade that captivates visitors with its crystalline turquoise pools and lush green surroundings. Located just south of Luang Prabang, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Kuang Si is a sanctuary of tranquility where visitors can bask in the serenity of nature, swim in the refreshing waters, and marvel at the picturesque scenery.
In addition to its natural wonders, Laos boasts a rich cultural tapestry woven with Buddhist traditions and ethnic diversity. Luang Prabang, the former royal capital, is renowned for its well-preserved architecture, vibrant night markets, and ancient temples, including the revered Wat Xieng Thong.
For adventure seekers, Laos offers an array of thrilling experiences, from trekking through dense jungles and exploring hidden caves to embarking on scenic river cruises along the mighty Mekong. The town of Vang Vieng, nestled amidst towering limestone karsts, beckons travelers with its adrenaline-pumping activities such as rock climbing, kayaking, and tubing.
Travelers often seek practical information such as visa requirements, currency exchange rates, and weather conditions before embarking on their journey to Laos. It's worth noting that Laos operates on the Lao kip (LAK) as its official currency, and while the country is generally warm throughout the year, the best time to visit is during the cooler, drier months from November to February.
Whether you're drawn to its natural wonders, cultural heritage, or sense of adventure, Laos promises a captivating and unforgettable experience for those willing to explore its hidden treasures.

Hey Willy, thanks for the inaccurate lesson in global warming. I note that you listed a couple of culprits which caused it however neglected to mention emissions from jet planes. I assume as you have concerns of the doom we face from the alleged global warming you will now use a pedal bike or walk to reduce your huge carbon footprint you are responsible for on your huge accumulation of air miles.

At 15:10 you visited a "Hmong" village, not "monk," William. The Hmong are a hill-tribe that originated in China many years ago, and now live in Vietnam, Laos, and Thailand, as well as in the US, Canada, France, Australia, and other countries. By and large, the Hmong traditionally are not Buddhist, but rather animist, that is, believing in many spirits that exist in many inanimate objects such as trees.
The musical instrument is called a "keng" which in the Hmong language is spelled "qeeb." In my estimation, it's the most easily recognized symbol of Hmong culture.

The argument is not that global warming does not exist. The question is how much of the rising co2 is caused from man and how much is natural. CO2 levels have been far greater in the past. And speaking on plant life we are at one of the greenest eras ever on earth. I’m not saying humans are not contributing to co2 levels. I personally am more concerned with pollution and overfishing etc.

Hey William good pieces on Laos also a lesson for travellers on the importance of research before travel. This is the dry season in SE Asia, when much vegetation dries out and dies. This is also the case where I have retired to in Koh Samui Thailand. The burning is very noxious but it is also most often controlled burning to prevent out of control burning of dead vegetation at the end of our dry season. It is this dry season that also minimizes the water in the falls you have been visiting.

I always like you drone and flower footage. Probably too late now, but stop by a Hmong village on the way there. It will make you appreciate Sweden standards of living.

Over the last several years, SE Asia has been enduring one of the worst droughts in decades. The damage to trees you have been noting has not been caused by smoke, but is rather a result of prolonged hot and dry conditions. When it is dry like that, natural areas are prone to burning from wildfires. The burnt areas you showed at about 2:00 looks like wildfire damage to me.

Man, I love that low key vibe and authenticity of rich cultural in small town like that. Those areas just need few inflow of cash from investors to bring it up to moderate standards but not to much as if it will destroy that cultural richness and nature scenery
