  • The Kia Telluride has been flying off lots for the last few years, and it returns with a few new updates for the 2024 model year. The major refresh was last year for the 2023 model year. This 3-row is technically a mid-size, so it's on the smaller side, but the use of space makes it plenty usable for the family inside. Under the hood is a naturally-aspirated V6 that makes 291-hp and 262 lb-ft of torque. Power goes through an 8-speed automatic transmission, and goes through either the front wheels or all four wheels, depending on the trim and options. Let's take a look at why these things are so popular.

    Just got one. Wanted one for years. Traded in my 2019 Stinger GTS and have no regrets at all.

    It’s an outstanding vehicle worthy of the multi-year #1 rating it has achieved. Although it reminds you if your hands are not on the steering wheel, it is almost hand-free steering as it will self-steer around curves and keeps the vehicle centered in its lane. The heated/cooled front seats and heated steering wheel can be set to come on/off automatically and the temperature of them is adjusted based on the vehicle temperature setting and the ambient temperature. I wish it had wireless CarPlay. Wired CarPlay works only from the single USB-A port and not from the USB-C ports. I don’t understand why all the ports throughout, other than one in the console, are USB-C. I’ve had to buy several USB-C to Lightning and USB-C to USB-C cables for our phones when I already had plenty of similar cables with USB-A on one end that we use in our other vehicles.

      Really is great all-around! The lane centering for Hyundai/Kia/Genesis really is one of the best. Congrats on the car! I agree with the wireless CarPlay/AA. It really should have it by now. The USBs, I get the frustration, but everyone is moving to USB-Cs at this point. They've been around for a while and it's newer/better/faster, a few new cables and you're all set. 🤷

    Do the fobs recognize which driver it is and adjust the seat and mirrors to that driver memory?

    • @GearboxCarReviews
      @GearboxCarReviews  6 месяцев назад +1

      Good question. I'm going to be honest, I was the only one driving it and I'm always only given a single key fob and I didn't test that specifically. I'll have to add that to my list for future vehicles. From my research, it seems like the settings do not pair to the fob though.

    How does this compare to the Honda Pilot?

      Unfortunately I haven't had a chance to get into a Pilot yet. Potentially will in the springtime, but unsure at this point. Sorry, wish I could help more. Just don't want to speculate too much on something I haven't driven.

    Great review. Wife and I are headed to look at one today. Kia definitely surprised me with this car. Also excited to see the EV 9.

      Thanks! Yeah, Kia has come a long way in general, and I think they really nailed this one. I still need to find my way into an EV 6, but I'm very interested to see how the EV 9 turns out as well. How'd you like the Telluride you went to check out?

      I’m in a 2020 SX Prestige. After 3 years of ownership no issues to report other than an AWD coupler crapping out. Dealer replaced under warranty on a whim with an oil change, I’ve been very impressed with this vehicle. Living in WI and coming from a Subaru the AWD system is top notch!

      We just purchased a 2024 SX AWD Prestige and love it. Dealers we visited had lots of EV9s on their lots and said that they had not sold a one, that no one wanted the EV9 and that they were overpriced.

    I wish reviewers would show up with a tape measure and give us full cargo measurements - NOT in Cublic Feet. How many Cubic Feet is this narrator? Does he know? Does ANY human know Their Cubic Measurements? We DO know our height. We DO know how long a sheet of plywood can be. This is a rotten introduction for this. Waste of time.

    • @GearboxCarReviews
      @GearboxCarReviews  6 месяцев назад +1

      That's a good idea. I understand why the standard is cubic feet, just because it's one single number to remember and get an easy comparison, but would definitely be helpful to get real measurements. Part of the problem is the spaces aren't really rectangular generally, so I'll have to find a way to present it that's not overly complicated and just a bunch of numbers in your face, but I've got some ideas.
      Are you saying the video is a rotten introduction to the car or that the cubic feet is just a rotten way to measure.
