      The idea that he hasn't been playing any football is so ludicrous. It's not like he's been stocking shelves like Kurt Warner or something since 2019. He plays football almost every day of his life. You think practice and film sessions and preseason games means nothing or aren't football? Aaron Rodgers held a clipboard for his first three years in the league. He didn't start a single game and then came in and threw for 4000 yards and 28 TDs the first year he started. Trey has started multiple games already. He's been playing football, FFS.

    • @SergeitheMet
      @SergeitheMet Год назад +1

      Wentz is done. And I think Lance has a steep mountain to claim. Very steep. Talk about getting out of the frying pan and into the fire. The Niners screwed him over in more ways than one. I am a HUGE Niners fan, but I absolutely hate them for what they did to Lance. I still can't believe what they did on that Draft Day 1 in 2023. I was absolutely shocked 2 years ago. With all due respect to Lance, he was a 4th round pick at best, maybe even the 5th round. To give up THAT MUCH for him, 3 first round picks and 1 second rounder made no sense. If you give up that much for a QB he better be next Joe Montana/Steve Young, ready to hit the ground running right away. Lynch and Shanahan basically mortgaged the future of franchise on this pick. That's too much pressure to put on a guy who played just 12 games, I believe, in a Division II school, granted a perennial champion. I still can't understand what he showed in those 12 games to make them fall head over heels for him. To make things worse, they didn't trade Jimmy G and made him a starter in '21 over Lance! Ridiculous. Then Lance got injured in the 2nd game of '22 season and after Purdy's emergence it was clear that Lance will never be Niners starter ever again. And to make this even worse, they traded him to Dallas which has to deal with Dak situation, and no one knows how that version of Dallas soap opera will play out. To make long story short, Lance is screwed. But I wish him well, hope he'll find a way out of this mess cause none of it is his fault.

    You can trade up for a quarterback who turns out to be a bust. I'm not gonna be mad about that. But during a super bowl window, with a player that was absolutely a HORRIBLE scheme fit, it's a historically bad draft pick. A big quarterback with as much talent as he has is someone you want with the ball in his hands making plays. The 49ers want to get the ball out of the QB's hands so other guys can make plays. I wonder if those extra first round picks they used to get him to finally get over the hump. Lynch and Shanahan blew it.

As a lifelong 49ers fan I am willing to say if Lance sucks that he sucks, but camp is showing this is the perfect opportunity to give him the reps and not throw Purdy to the wolves after a major injury and instead we have a coach and GM who would rather let it ride and I would not be surprised in the slightest if the 49ers crash and burn this year because of not giving the healthy guy reps while pushing a guy that doesn't seem ready to come back but is doing so to not lose his chance.

    The NFL is a win now league. The 49ers have a SB roster with many of their prime players looking over the hill. Last year was doomed if we didnt have a QB ready. Lance got hurt because Shanahan didnt trust him to throw the ball so he ran him and got him hurt. You cannot compete and develop at the same time in any professional league. Especially the NFL at the THE most important position in sports. Yes it is a tough position to be in but to play an inexperienced player because we need to what hes got, then theres no purpose in mini-camp, practice, and pre-season. Trey will play if he continues to improve and develop. He might even start its a long season. Also, 1rd draft picks usually last a minute in the league especially the ones drafted to a bad team with potential and upside.

    Knowing how well Shanahan protects his QBs, they will probably need all 3 of them at some point this year. 😅

    I will never understand how the national media has fallen so in love with Brock Purdy. I get the part about him being the ultimate underdog. They're all ready to put him in Canton. I don't know if he's a starter in this league, YET. Not to mention he just had a serious injury that may not allow him to return to his previous form, whatever that was. Let's just slow down and see what BOTH of those kids are capable of, before we jump to conclusions.
    How many times do you need to see over hyped qb's fail, before you learn to slow down with the assessments? There's a reason why sometimes qb's look decent their first year but then never show much after that. Mostly because rookies aren't asked to do much. Put the full playbook in their hands, let the defensive coordinators of the league study them a little and suddenly you see the truth.

      We already saw an overhyped 49ers QB fail. His name is Trey Lance.

    Shanahan bought the hype hook, line and sinker. He should’ve followed his gut instead of listen to a bunch of hype from the media.
