This acoustic solo version was released on Instagram recently and it gave me a feeling I rarely get anymore. I had a sense of experiencing something completely unique and essentially perfect. This man is a true poet. There are so few in the world who can create something like this. It’s humbling to witness.
Truth, brother.. I mentioned on another video earlier that this is the apex of songwriting. The guitar and vocals fall perfectly in time. It’s transcendent.

Seen this dude live a couple times now.
Having met him, and seen the way he interacts with fans, everything points to him being a really grateful and humble person. I bet he would have taken the time to get to know everyone at each show if he was able.
His music is reason enough to support him, but I’d also rather show up for someone who happens to be a genuinely good person. I’ll show up for Stephen every time.

Wow. I'm staggered. Gobsmacked. All the tones, all by himself. This lifts my heart and my head.
There are 22 songs on the album and no filler. A mix of Springsteen, Sturgill Simpson, Nirvana and more. Deep, affecting songwriting, vocal and instrumentation, beautiful guitar sound. So glad I found Stephen's music. Really great version of the album track.
His whole album is just one fantastic song after another. This is such a high level of song writing that virtually no other 'country' artist is doing. His subject matter transcends the toe-tappin', line-dancing, pain-drinking, baby-done-left-me country fodder on the radio. Nobody does it quite like SW Jr.
What or main stream doing not playing this no offense but your acoustic versions of all your songs out way better than the album

By far my favorite artist, this song started it off for me.. classic
Best new artist discovery this year and probably for the last several. And there have been some great ones actually. This acoustic performance has a power that's rarely felt. Redemption and destruction, pride and pity, hope and doubt are all so incredibly communicated in the notes, the tone, cadence of guitar and voice. And that big note with that touch of reverb near the end.... felt the universe stand still a moment at that.
