This is the reason why I spend hours sorting through mediocre music. This song made me stop what I was doing and took me back. Thank you Stephen. Incredible song.
Thankk on you for doing that. Us little guys appreciate it. Check out ” The Stanfields “. “ The Town Heros” “ Matt Andersen” They’re not my band but you might like them.
Well Mr. Johnson, as a kid (I'm 22 in july) I never seen any of the men around me cry. Only the women. And only when an important woman in their life was gone, would I see them cry. I cried... a lot. I'm glad I read this comment from a 64 year old, as a 21 year old listenin to the same damn song. Have a good day sir
Nobody sounds like this guy - no over-produced, autotuned bullshit just a voice, a guitar and a whole lot of hurt. I discovered him from his cover of Stand By Me and then I watched the entire Print Shop set and then couldn't stop searching. His interview on The Print Shop was so wholesome and honest as well, what a beautiful guy. I love it when we find these diamonds.
Yes !!! Exactly. I found him the same way and living in the Los Angeles area and deal with many musicians, I immediately sent these same videos to everyone I knew…. So genuine and amazing ! Love this guy !!!

The amount of grief we experience is equal only to the love we know. The greater the love the greater the grief. What a privilege it is to know grief. Those who've never known grief have never felt love. I love you all.
I lost my wolf hybrid - totally unexpected, she was my best friend; wild bright eyes, giant smile and helicopter tail. Putting her in the ground was one continual eye shower. I miss her to this day.
@@jtrcknoregon1922I lost my 13 week old puppy on Janurary 8th, it stills feels like i just lost him.. Im so sorry for your loss its definely noy easy :(
Cried like a baby the first time I heard this song. Lost so many people in my life and I miss them so much. Thank you Stephen for this song. So beautiful. Now I listen to this when I’m missing them. I’m excited to see you perform at country thunder tomorrow
One of my closest friends passed away at 36 years old, and the funeral is tomorrow... this song will be played during the service. Thank you for giving us an anthem to cling to amongst our heartache and loss. A wife, two kids, and a whole lot of people that loved him... and our grief is only love that's got nowhere to go.
This man is our generation’s Stevie Ray Vaughan. A voice somewhere between George Thorogood and Tom Petty. A sound right in the middle of rock and country with the only other guitar on earth I’ve heard sound as deep as Willie Nelson’s Trigger. This is some otherworldly-soulful music. Wow.
Stephen. I’m 33 years old. Fought like hell my whole life. I’ve been a poet and wrote songs for myself just to vent for a long time now. I hope you understand when I say I’ve wrote this song before. Thank you for perfecting it.
Gobbsmaked. Skull drug. Blasted. I don’t have the vocabulary to express the detonation in my mind that this LEGEND ignited with his art! Fucking fantastic!!!
Well, that is one more year down. Last night was a lonely one, as many birthday nights have been these past few years. I miss them all. My twin brother, daughter, family and friends, brothers killed in war....and the list seems to go on... Again there was no cake, no candles, no singing, but my birthday wish was the same, no matter how futile. I hope some day....I find out where all the love goes. I wish you all here in the comments...nothing but...peace and progress.
Happy Birthday to you friend sorry you were alone Noone deserves to be alone on their birthday may God bless you and hopefully your next one will be better for you.
Please remember you have wisdom and heart and kindness within. I hope you continue reaching out to the world. Sometimes it is through the journey that an understanding forms. Best wishes always.
I have never heard of this artist but i feel like things just come around right when you need them. I lost my dad to cancer 3 weeks ago and this song was just what I needed to hear. Beautiful song man, thank you.
Lost my pops to brain cancer as well, lucky for me i was fairly young so it did not hit me as hard as it would now. Less lucky is my mother had to raise me and my three brothers all by herself. But she did it, and we made it. It all ends up good for good peope, and whatever you're going trough right now i just pray wont be strong enough to keep you from seing and enjoying the good parts of life! God bless friend :)
Lost my dad 2017 from a rare virus, lost my mom to cancer at 21. I would did anything to hear these words and song when I was at my darkest hours. This song helps me actually start to grieve. No parents, went thru a divorce and all I really had was me to pull myself off the floor and fight back against my loneliness. This song already brings me so much strength. Hang in there brother and remember your dad truly loves you and is very proud
5 and a half long years since my dad passed away. I don’t cry much anymore but this song couldn’t have hit harder. Thank you for an incredible song. I miss ya dad
29 years since I lost mine. Still cry. I will forever remember where I was when I first heard this. Was driving... As the song went on I clearly remember saying "Wow" twice.... The first was "I miss my father everyday. The kind of pain I pray don't fade away." The second was " I don't feel like crying, but I still just keep crying." I am still amazed by this song, and the chills still come with it!
Never in my half a century on this Earth have I ever had a song effect me so profoundly. The heartache & sorrow from losing my sister was almost more than I could carry until I heard this song. Never once had I ever thought about it like this, yet as soon as I heard this song, I felt this weight lift off of me. I've had so many people tell me that I just need to move on & get over it. Now I welcome those feelings because it means I remember her, our time together, the bond we shared. I spend time with her on memory lane - sometimes with tears and other times with laughter. Thank you, Mr. Wilson, for sharing your talent & heart with us. Blessings to you and yours.
This song grabs me, makes me want to run and tell everyone about it and shake them and say "why arent you listenkng to this perfection?" Anothe rower of me wants to hold this as my own, like im the okly perosn in the world who gets to hesr this. Just perfect.
My dad passed away from ALS in Nov 22. He was my best friend. I just usually shove sorrow down a deep dark hole and roll on. This song brought it all back and forced me to remember my Dad again. It freaking hurts so good. God I Miss You Dad.

My friend sent me a link to Stephen’s cover of Stand By Me and I was so impressed and moved that I went looking for more and this song’s title caught my attention. The song and the performance itself surpassed the title. My dad is currently in a bad way with lung cancer. I was heading home to be with him the day I got sent the link. Songs like Hometown, Father’s Son, Hang in There and this one are so relevant to everything that’s going on right now that it feels like I was meant to find this album when I did. It’s become the soundtrack to the last week or so of my life and at times has made me cry, but it’s also given me hope. It feels like the most important album I’ve ever listened to. Thank you Stephen Wilson Jr. 🙏
This is the best description of “aged” grief I’ve come across. Fresh grief feels much different but that line, “I miss my father everyday, it’s the kind of pain I pray don’t fade away” is right on the money. Grief starts to feel comforting after enough time has passed. Super well written, 100% human song
He is so good getting you to feel the nostalgic moments in the past. Insane. His music always makes me reflect, therefore hopefully making me a better person. Its literally free therapy!
Never EVER stop making music. This is why you were put on this earth because I’ve never had songs speak directly to my heart like yours have. God bless you brother

Grief is for sure LOVE. I have been grieving for years now for the death of my parents. I can't seem to shake the loss.
It don't get easier friend we just learn to cope with the pain better sorry for everyone's losses God keep your hands on everyone dealing with losses
🚀 is about to take off, hope Stephen is ready for his life to be shaken up a bit!
Mate... got me through me dads passing xxxx
Had this on repeat... lost my dad and hits home. Thanks for the song
This is the best description of “aged” grief I’ve come across. Fresh grief feels much different but that line, “I miss my father everyday, it’s the kind of pain I pray don’t fade away” is right on the money. Grief starts to feel comforting after enough time has passed. Super well written, 100% human song
They HEY is my favorite part. I both cry and smile at this song.
He is so good getting you to feel the nostalgic moments in the past. Insane. His music always makes me reflect, therefore hopefully making me a better person. Its literally free therapy!
This song helps so many people heal. And puts words to feelings. Excellent ✨
Discovered you on The Bonfire and instantly fell in live with your music🙌
Never EVER stop making music. This is why you were put on this earth because I’ve never had songs speak directly to my heart like yours have. God bless you brother
