My fondest memory of this song is when I was in a window seat of a plane flying to North Carolina. I was traveling for my job and leaving my two very young sons and their mom at home. My brother committed suicide a couple of months earlier and I was still in very real shock. I remember putting my earbuds in to drown out the noise of the other travelers and thinking about my kids and life in general and how I was dealing with the loss of my brother, how my boy's mom was dealing with me. I remember we pulled into the tarmac and Happs Songs For Happy People was playing and this song came on as we were waiting our turn to take off. I felt elated and so sad at the same time when we lifted off. Never felt so alone, but this song gave me the only comfort I'd felt in months. Leaving the Earth for even just a brief moment while listening to this album helped me.
I lost my Mother to suicide when i was 17, and it got me really messed up, i am now full blown addict of alc. I am going through recoervy next month. And it seems so far away, but mogwai truely kept something real in me that will fight through it. Sorry for the emotionel stuff. I just want to tell you Guys thank you.
Dude, I've been addicted to alcohol for 16 years, since I was 17, and I've also been off and on dependant on opiates and benzodiazepines since then as well; But I must say, alcohol has been by far the worst and most devastating of all of the drug addictions I've survived so far. Even though I have injected heroin and methamphetamine intravenously for about 10 years, I've only ever been hospitalized because of alcohol - I was withdrawing from it and had grand Mal seizures, basically delerium tremens without the hallucinations. If I hadn't gotten myself to the emergency room, the status epilipticus would've killed me without any doubt. _What I'm saying to you, my friend, is _*_please be very careful with your life, alcohol is so dangerous. I know, it's so hard to stop when everything's gone to shit. But you have to try, if you want to live._*
Your message broke me a bit. I also lost my mother like 10 years ago, and I used to listen to mogwai a lot in those times. Please, stay strong. I am just a random stranger on the internet, but if you ever feel you need to talk, I'm here for you. Wish you the best
Been a huge fan of this band since 2006, seen them live twice, once in Paris and once in Scotland and currently wearing on my Mogwai Tshirts while listening to this song at work. Still sounds as good as when I heard it the first time. Truly one of my favourite bands.
i casually discovered mogwai last sunday, and this is their first song i've heard..it captured me immediately..maybe if it was another of their songs it wont be happen, don't know, but i'm happy i heard this as first song
I hadn't discovered them until they had been around for 10 years. They are great. I once heard Robert Smith of The Cure mention in an interview that it is one of his favorite bands, if not, the favorite.
I really wish this type of music would become more popular with the general population. Music is supposed to mean something, make you feel something. Not talkin about poppin bottles in the club and girl lemme see you get low.
amazing video and amazing song... so much heart in both.. it touches me in some primal ways... truth is excellence. bring down big business one fly at a time.. love it.
I think this is the first Mogwai song I heard, and I became a fan immediately! I have yet to see them live, though. Also, this is great gettin' drunk music. I don't know how it is getting stoned to.... yet ;)
The message is that if we keep killing insects (pesticides), this imply that we are killing our health and hence our selves. Awesome music / video clip / message
at first i was really sceptical. i don't like the look of most flash animations i have seen. it always looks very cheap or at least dull and unreal. but that video just fits the feeling i get when i listend to mogwai and i do that a lot! everything is just a little more special, seems different. the look you created fits really well for that song and the story and pacing is just awesome! after all, that is one great music video! vielen dank dafür! li-no-no-no
Absolutely, one can derive meaning from the title, metaphoric or literal. Also, if you look up their live performance of it here on RUclips, you'll see that it does in fact have a vocal track. I think it's a vocoder. Google vocoder wiki and check out the diagram. The mic is labeled as a modulator. Thanks for you input.
Nicely done, my friend. I haven't had the privilege of seeing Mogwai live yet, I missed them by hours in Singapore in January (still very pissed about that one).. but I will see them!
I listened to this song for the first time today but yet it sounds so familiar, like I may have heard it somewhere before; perhaps not. Nonetheless it's a great, mellow song. I like it.
I psychic told me once that my soul wasn't from earth.. That I was something called a pledidan?? If I spelled that right.. I love this song, it just makes me feel disconnected in a good way.
Great video, and all great videos deserve a great song, and so this has come to find one so great it makes all other music seem bleak and boring... Sigh... The worst thing is... I know i have the CD with it somewhere... I just have a nasty feeling that my sister might have taken it... I so miss this music :'(... God its been to long... 3:43 minutes of heaven... Just like all Mogwai...

BornSlippy 78 How is it that you can feel comfort in the “Things will turn out ok” way? I feel it in a “youre helpless against the tide” way
I feel pain for this. You have my respect brother.
I feel you mate. Very deep words. Respect for what you experienced.

"And I feel so guilty for killing all the flies...

When does he sing this?? Is that supposed to be whats in the music from 0:50?
@@riskat3 They use a vocoder to modulate their voices when they sing on tracks like this and hunted by the freak etc.
Can't stop listening.

mogwai does some absolutely incredible musical climaxes
Stunning every fuckin time
Wow,I've really been blown away by this band..Every song is so fullfilling.....every track is extraordinarily beautiful..
i casually discovered mogwai last sunday, and this is their first song i've heard..it captured me immediately..maybe if it was another of their songs it wont be happen, don't know, but i'm happy i heard this as first song
I never imagined the song this way. That's the beauty of post rock.
absolutely amazing..great band, immortal song..nuff' said.
Still listen to this. Still amazing. Still underrated.
I hadn't discovered them until they had been around for 10 years. They are great. I once heard Robert Smith of The Cure mention in an interview that it is one of his favorite bands, if not, the favorite.
Can hardly understand what's being said but I hear "I do not feel guilty for killing all the flies" and "I do not feel secluded"
The song has no lyrics actually.
I really wish this type of music would become more popular with the general population. Music is supposed to mean something, make you feel something. Not talkin about poppin bottles in the club and girl lemme see you get low.

Mindent a rovarok fognak uralni, előbb vagy utóbb!
Jobb mielőbb csatlakozni hozzájuk, mert ők vannak többen!!!
R.I.P.: Frenky, my sweet Fly
The climax of the song was the greatest part of the video, so good....
Love this song... Mogwai is one of the best post rock bands...
A true postrock video. Mixes well with the feel of the song.
man, all of their songs are just amazing, I can't believe it, I haven't found a song that I can consider bad... Excellent vid
3:00 just hits hard.
Another one dies and you don't realize, you're killing ALL the flies.
I am here because of the Vice President debate! Nice songs, definitely love it!
i have tears because my ears have turned into jello that will mellow a fellow cello with a hello. hello cello
I think this is the first Mogwai song I heard, and I became a fan immediately! I have yet to see them live, though. Also, this is great gettin' drunk music. I don't know how it is getting stoned to.... yet ;)
This is awesome.
I love this video. I think it's such a creative way to interpret the song. I get chills every time I watch this.
The message is that if we keep killing insects (pesticides), this imply that we are killing our health and hence our selves. Awesome music / video clip / message

excellent, nice job!!

i cant help but sense a hidden voice in the song, this song indeed does has meaning althou the apparent lack of vocals
Nicely done, my friend. I haven't had the privilege of seeing Mogwai live yet, I missed them by hours in Singapore in January (still very pissed about that one).. but I will see them!
