This is still my favorite season 4 episode because the entire cast of main characters gets in on it including Bonnie and RC 3 playing a major role
Sure the camouflage.for KITT is a little hard to swallow but at the same time the stakes are high and the guest stars are also top notch and because of it it was a good fun episode

I used to watch Knight Rider religiously and I have no memory of Kitt's fancy shell.
Knight Sting was one of my favourite episodes, it was better than Voodoo Knight.

Walter Gotell and Kabir Bedi , two actors who appeared in James Bond films. While they both appeared in the same Bond film, Octopussy, Gotell appeared in 7 Bond films. First as a villain, Morzeny, in From Russia with Love, then 6 as General Gogol from The Spy Who Loved Me to The Living Daylights.

I know kitt can switch it off by himself, so it should be possible.

@@FirstDan2000 The reason it wasn't shown, is because they only had one SPM drive vehicle (the one with the extensions permanently welded in place that could be driven). The transforming version had no engine and was only used on a soundstage. Having KITT drive himself in SPM would've required them to make a blind drive version of the SPM car, which would've meant getting George Barris to make another one. And unfortunately, Knight Rider was ending so NBC didn't see it as being worth it. If it had continued for another few seasons, might've happened. Today they could just remote control a car, back then they had to have a special seat a stunt driver could sit in and drive the car (special steering wheel too) without being seen.

@@FirstDan2000 Not really, I'm not that much of an expert. Look up the Knight Rider Historians channel here on RUclips. They know WAY more than me, and I've learned a lot from them. They also own two of the original cars used as KITT. There were...about 23 different Firebirds/Trans Am's used as KITT during the entire series, 5 survive today and they own 2 of them.
The villian that fell in the slim REALLY got hurt in that face plant. He tried to break his fall and the slim made his hand slide right out and he cracked his head on the floor theres no way that fall he didnt accidentally hurt himself really really hard.
I thought that too. No way was that a normal stunt fall.

I like that they just sped up slightly the video sequences for the Super Pursuit Mode scenes, like from 2:54 to 2:58 and from 3:09 to 3:14, to make KITT go faster. It's a simple trick, but still give a reasonable illusion of "super-speed" in my opinion.
2:18 Was someone working on Knight Rider a Ghostbusters fan by any chance? In the Season 3 episode, "Knights of the Fast Lane", there's a couple scenes where the theme tune can be heard playing from a radio😄
Idk. about this, but KITT's scanner design and sound is not only take from Cylons in Battlestar Galactica, it also appears in Star Trek Voyager.
Sure seems like it. Ghostbusters is the only film that I know of that made “slime” a verb.

I think the reason the Ghostbusters theme was playing in the episode is due to the fact that the episode was filmed in the same year that Ghostbusters was out on theaters, and the producers decided to feature that song because it was in the Top 10 of that year.

I am a little confused, I thought by this time in the series Kitt had lost his molecular bonded shell, but here he seems to still have it? Can someone explain?
He got it back after the toxic waste episode.
I think he got it back after The Juggernaut but before the next episode. It's not discussed (if i remember correctly), and happens off-camera.

@@FirstDan2000 I think it happened between episodes and we just accepted it as a given the next time KITT blew through a wall. Back when the show aired, I tended to not overthink it. 😄
He lost the molecular bonded shell in "Knight of the Juggernaut" because Devon had been kidnapped and he was one of the two remaining people who knew the pieces of the formula. Once he was rescued, they could make more of the formula. (Remember, pieces of the formula were originally divided among 3 people and any 2 of them could put their pieces together and recreate it. One was killed by Garthe Knight in "Goliath" but the other two survived.) There are multiple occasions in the fourth season where we see KITT either using or referencing the MBS. For example, in "Knight Flight to Freedom" he drives through lava and actually speaks about his shell. Clearly, he had his MBS back.

I was never a fan of the SPM mode. I still cannot work out on a technical basis if KITT was a single vehicle, where the hard roof would go in convertible mode if all of those turbo-engines were where the roof would store.
The engines are in the front, not the back.

@@darrenbent7601 They must not stick in very far. If we try to be realistic about it, where do all the separation lines for the SPM protrusions disappear to in regular mode? Also when the rear turbo jets show up, the sides cut right in the middle of the outer tail lights, too. And the front scanner moves forward with the front bumper even though it’s mounted under the hood separately.
Just remember this is a TV show from the 80s. It wasn’t intended to be scrutinized that closely.
@@scarfman4 - Looking back at it now, it really strikes me as a kid's show. It seems to have been geared towards an audience that also watched Saturday morning cartoons. I guess that's not surprising given its timeslot at the time, when family hour meant programming aimed at a young viewership.

The one thing you notice as an adult that you didn't when you kid is that almost every time that whenever they do the super pursuit mode there's never any pedestrians around
well... for me watching as a kid this was a few years before hormones kicked in but today there's Bonnie @ 6:07... yeah
