- The K.I.T.T. Super Pursuit Mode model is based on the season 4 version of the Knight Industries Two Thousand from the TV show "Knight Rider".
From Knight Rider Season 4 Episode 5 “Burial Ground”: An archaeologist being sponsored by FLAG is kidnapped after finding proof positive that a piece of land belongs to a tribe of Indians. Not surprisingly, a business man who wants to drill oil in the same area is the culprit.

There is some good stuff in this small clip.
I like the overhead view of the SPM car coming to a stop. We can see the pointy rear wing clearly. And although a bit clunky from some angles the SPM looks good whilst Kitt is stopped.
I disliked the driving over bumpy terrain at 300mph.
But i particularly like how Kitt never sets off efficiently. He always burns rubber, and dirt road, and tarmac, and Walmart parking lot.
"KITT give me soup or pursuit mode"....
"OK Michael here is bowl of tomato soup, made it myself"
2:38 - I like the "what's going on here" looks the passengers give to Michael because they don't understand the super-pursuit mode.
I thought it was the actors looking at Hoff over acting.

1:48 I get the feeling there was meant to be a bit extra segment with Snakeman there after Michael knocked him down, but was cut. His hand's clearly moving to grab his knife🔪

I see the actor who played Harv Smithfield on Dallas at 2:53. Also, Robert Pine who played Sargent Getraer shortly after that.
Nice F-150 & Econoline. 80's Fords were always pretty good-looking trucks.

Buttons to go faster or stop quicker: Hidden behind a panel for safety.
Buttons to cause plumes of smoke or oil slicks from the back of the car: Yeah whatever just don't touch them unless you need them

It always bugged me how bad the paint was underneath the super pursuit mode extensions when KITT is 'transforming'... especially near the wheels.
I am literally in here because of the thumbnail showing that terrible paint job. I didnt even watch the video. Glad I am not alone. :smiling

this is possibly one of the best SPM sequences in the entire series except for maybe a little part where they're drifting through the gravel at the end which is clearly sped up footage but it definitely feels like the car is slicing through the atmosphere and gliding effortlessly upon the road at around 300 miles an hour

The best SPM segment is when going across some of the desert scenes where Zurich has everyone prisoner at the doomsday bunker. I would like to see that segment again as it has been some time since I last watched that episode. This one is good also.
Me too. That scene is very important to me. Well if I’m stressed out I look at that scene and I zone out. I wish there was someway it could be looped for an hour long

really need a button to depress for super pursuit mode/ turbo boost? some Car?leaning forwards to press a button which thrusts the driver back when activated? Also while fighting great acceleration needing to lean forwards to brake- not very ergonomic.
I thought the passengers were supposed to be pinned to their seats because of the high speed. The female in the back is still holding on the seat

one thing that surprised me is that when Kitt in Auto mode- its windows can darken to assist with the ruse that Knight has unseen back-up.
I loved SPM back then but now I wonder how many of the crew knew that a vehicle can't move faster by being less streamlined 😂
3:15 I've never had the pleasure to see the SPM in night scenes so I've never seen working the particular tailights disclosures by the rear wing, so are them, in the reality of the show, the regular tailights, just covered when the car ride at normal speed? That's a mistery to me.
Knight behind bars is the episode where SPM is shown at night and its very cool

The SUPER PURSUIT MODE was aerodynamically unnecessary, the 1980s F-bodies are aerodynamically good enough for 300 mph in standard form.
One thing that has puzzled me after all these years is that after KITT was destroyed after being stripped of his molecular bonded shell, in later episodes of season 4 it appears he has it back
Yeah, he was never shown getting it back on screen but he definitely did get it back, he even refers to having it in the episode where he drives through lava. My own belief is that the writers at the beginning of season 4 initially thought it would shake things up and make it more interesting if KITT became more vulnerable, but then they sort of went off the idea and made him invulnerable again without really explaining it. But then the writing on Knight Rider was never all that consistent.
@@paulwhite6745 I noticed it in the episode where Michael was considering leaving FLAG after being shot. A few scenes into it I was like wait. He has it back again?
@@TheNightmare_13 Yeah, it just sort of reappears without any explanation on screen!
Although it has never been directly mentioned how Kitt got it back, I think someone on another video mentioned about how the thought after Elizabeth knight (wiltons daughter) was in danger at one point in knight of the juggernaut, that after that point, after the episode ended and inbetween episodes, they thought of the idea that she changed her mind and gave the funding back to the knight foundation and they had the funds to re apply the shell to Kitt.

I looked up Hasselhoff’s page on Wikipedia, no mention of martial arts.
The stuntman is. But its really hard to spot him on a small screen. But in this part of the episode I'll guess the stuntman coached Hoff really closely. I didn't realise at first, it's actually him.
In the pilot episode when the drivers paid off by Comtrom threaten Michael, Michael warns them he's heavily trained in MA. They don't believe him and them get their asses kicked.
When he was Michael Long, he was a cop, and probably was trained in some forms of unarmed combat.
