In Kerala, we boil Dal n veggies n finally do a tadka of spices n let it boil for a minutes afterwards. And adds a pinch of sugar to balance the flavours 😉 I loved this one pot recipe too by the way❤️❤️❤️

In my version I also added sitafal pumpkin green onion tori and beans garlic ginger anf pressure cooked it with arhar tur dal then added imli tamarind water later on did tadka with mustard seeds sarso , laal Mirch and added everst sambar masala it was delicious

That’s not called sambar..it’s called pappu (lentil) charu (soup) or may b by any other name locally..the name of this dish itself comes from the unique masala/powder that’s called sambar masala

Looks good. I always add MDR sambhar masala. I have tried both versions.- with or without the masala. Always taste better with the masala. You can add tomoto puree in it too.
Normally we boil veggies and dal first and to that we add grinded coconut and sambar powder And then add to that dal..lastly we put tadka on it.. Mom use to say that after adding tamrid no veggies will cook completely
Sir you can add bottle gourd and you cook vegetables along with dal first and last you can put tempering And you can also add small piece of jaggery ...wl be great taste and of course you rightly said in the beginning every home in south India makes different style of Sambar... Kunal..wow!! I am a South Indian..making sambar for so many yrs..but urs blew me away..was so good. I used ghee instead of oil..n whatever veggies I had..Loved it..no janjhat of sambar etc..Husband said..this must b a Punjabi sambar..n ended up almost drinking 3 cups!!😜😜

This style is his method...This is no offense to all who have diligently posted their views....hear mine out as well. It’s not how it’s made it’s with the steps that make this a success...to eat..at any occasion...I make mine with a soup thick consistency so I can eat that as a complete meal with bread or fruits.But please be tolerant of these comments and let’s be more open to suggestions... Sugar or jaggery . Also the tamarind water should be added after the veggies are cooked. Not at the beginning

2 things missing kunal coriander leaves and jaggery
Coriander leaves are not used in sambar. Jaggery used only in Udupi recipe.
We used to use in sambar in andhra
Coriander is used usually but Jaggery is used in only few parts of south India. The authentic Tamilnadu sambar doesn't contain Jaggery!
No it's totally optional we don't put jaggery and coriander leaves
