- Swayback Posture Made Simple - Biomechanics Explained!
Swayback posture is the body’s attempt to balance itself in space.
We see:
1. A forward pelvis
2. A backward rib cage
3. A forward pelvis
Now the confusing part is that the pelvis is posteriorly tipped (tipped back) even though it is pushed forward.
To correct swayback posture, we need to address the underlying position and mobility restrictions.
The pelvis being tucked under causes tight butt muscles and the ribcage being shifted back causes tight 6-pack abs.
So to fix this, we need to:
1. Shift the lower pelvis back, and the upper pelvis forward
2. Loosen the 6-pack abs and allow the sternum to come up
3. Recapture internal rotation of the hip relative to the pelvis
