Disappointed will be an understatement.
Worst part is that the sacrificial keyboard is cheap, meaning, your "wooden" keyboard has a lifespan as much as the cheap plastic keyboard
Same here! 🖐 This keyboard is basically the same as their website, half baked... They offer international shipping for customers outside of Japan, use a lot of English words and sentences for the description of their products/sales, but their entire website is in Japanese (no English option) 🤦♂
I came into the comment section to say that, I mean it's a lot of hand crafted parts with a lot of manual labor but it loses all of it's charm being fitted pieces over a wireless thin keyboard :(
Edit: as someone else said, the keyboard also looks very very cheap. For a 1000 dollars that is really embarrassing.

普通に淡々と作業してるけど、そもそも土台の木材から加工精度がすごすぎる
actually it's cover for actual keyboard (man didn't remove old keys) but still intresting. also he used membrane keyboard so it will not last very long.

This so-called wooden keyboard is just covered with a wooden shell.The wooden shell is just glued to the original keycap, not even a complete wooden keycap.

Оборудование конечно хорошее ,я о таком могу только мечтать .Но на фоне такой техники ,мастеру остается только хорошо отшлифовать изделие ,и не перепутать положение кнопок.
Чем отличается его громадная ленточка от небольшой 14 дюймовой? Доску 600х 150 можно отфуговать и отрейсмусовать в комбинированном станочке . Чпу тоже есть и не сильно дорогие ,поле большое не нужно. А вы написали так ,будто там роботы всю работу сделали ,а он попивай чаек и в финале пыль сдул с клавиатуры ) Вроде как и похвалили работу ,а на самом деле обесценили труд мастера.
Если руки растут не из плеч, то никакое самое навороченное оборудование не спасёт, и столярное технопорно не получится. Парень чётко знает, что, зачем и в каком порядке он делает. И программы для ЧПУ, возможно, сам писал и отлаживал. Плюс терпение и усидчивость. Результат получился - моё почтение. Безумно хочется подержать эту клаву в руках, предварительно их вымыв.
можете посмеяться надо мной, но я думал, что лазер каждый символ отдельно выводит, а оказалось, он построчно выжигает сразу всё))
И странно, что просто прикрепляются к пластиковой клавиатуре насадки, я думал полностью деревянная будет, кроме электроники и самого механизма клавиш...

Let's say that's worth $4/h minimum from the poorest place in the world where these tools are also accessible (you would have to be very lucky too). Each and every dedicated look into every single angle of every single piece while fully conscious and present in the moment is something unfathomable to me. I would get so bored. This person has such a dedication to their art that it's inspiring to others in their field. Anyways. $4 an hour let's say this took 200 hours from lumber purchase selecting to handing off to shipment; that's $800. Now let's look at how talented this person is and the country they live in. Minimum wage is above $4/h. This is a great deal.

This looks like they just cover wood on top of a low profile Logitech keyboard, they should up their game by create they own PCB, layout and keycap. How ever the process was great, very satisfy to watch

Круто конечно вместо подсветки светлячки наверное, вместо платы лист дерева, вместо дорожек паутинка😂
В самом конце видео - вся работа заключается по сути в чехле для клавиатуры. Обычную пластиковую клаву просто положили в чехол из деревянного макинтоша. Вот если бы всё полностью (кроме механики и электрики) то Да - очень шикарно!

기계라는 것들의 가격의 높고 낮음은 하드웨어의 성능에 9할이 달려 있다고 생각하는 입장으로서
이 제품은 감성에 더 많은 가치를 둔 사람들이 원하는 제품일 것 같다.
그러나 그렇게 양보하고 이해하려 해도 마치 백퍼센트 수작업인 양 장인행세를 하는 것은 썩 좋아보이지 않는다.
나름 열심히 사는 사람을 맹목적으로 비난하고 싶은 마음은 없으나,
제작자 스스로도 자신의 가치를 올려치기 하는 허세가 들어간 것은 아닐까.
이런 낮은 의식 때문에 한국이 발전을 못한다 모조리 다 자신의 열등감 아니면 패배주의 시선으로만 쳐다본다

Exactly my thoughts. I know wood is expensive and time is money. Also I know this is tedious and "hard work" but you are right on the money with this one. Its a keyboard cover just like a cell phone cover. To me its not worth a $1,000 though. If they would have gutted the parts from the other keyboard to use with in the wooden one this yes I will go for that but that's not what they did here.
it is not just a cover. Plus the keyboard underneath is a premium mechanical one. These retail for 200 to 250 euros.

Wow good job, nice I want one, a more natural material wood. You ever try to use a laser to cut the keys? But would have burn marks or go on fire, but you still use the laser for letter engraving. I'm sure there is a niche market for such a product.

Love the work but it's a bit disappointing to see the wooden key caps glued to the top of pre existing plastic ones. Correct me if wrong but that's how it looks in the video. With the equipment you have it shouldn't be too difficult to cnc the correct fitting into the base of the keys to allow them to connect to the switches directly?
