I think they did not know that was a Radar guided missile. Radar guided or not, all they had was flares as counter measure so they used it as last resort.

also AC-130 only have a gun on it's left fuselage with it's own gun operator, unlike in that movie, also if you're an avgeek person you can see the AC-130's cockpit isn't it's real cockpit, it's a cockpit of another plane called Boeing 737

To be honest the best weapons for an ac-130 in warthunder would be its flares cause they would drop the frame rate so low you would crash
