If you haven’t tried any local food except for nasi kandar and nasi lemak, you should try prawn noodle, Hokkein Mee, roti canai, curry laksa but if you can’t eat really spicy, then try Nyonya laksa, satay, bak kut teh, chicken rice. Of course, char kuey teow
I took my American friend here early this year. He was amazed with the food here. This restaurant is also one of my fave nasi kandar place. 🤤 maybe you can try Satay next. i want to see your opinion on peanut sauce with satay.. 😁

tips for eating nasi kandar, avoid any seafood or lamb shank because its expensive XD we usually eat it with ayam bawang, or ayam goreng, or daging hitam or lamb curry, peria goreng is also good and crunchy
Hi Ko & Mi, thank you for sharing your experiences here, FYI, seafood kind of overpriced in mamak/nasi kandar especially inside KL city, for cheaper seafood try visit cities with fishing villages/next to sea/port where you can get fresh seafood at lower priced than big city. (i.e. salt water "sea" food in Sekinchan, Kuching, Pangkor, KK, Semporna, Tawau vs in KL, Penang, Ipoh, JB
i got japanese friend , but its really really hard to find suitable malaysian food for her since japanese mostly used to light taste food and not spicy, very opposite too malaysian food 😅, but then i bring her to eat mcdonald nasi lemak, now she like it the most

I think you guys should try fish curry head my recommendation is at jln kg atap KL centre behind Chinese Hall and Wisma Pahlawan and the restaurant is at last corner shop near by Selangor badminton hall
Next time if you ever decide to go to a nasi kandar restaurant, stay away from squids, prawns and crabs. They're expensive. You can still get good dishes at cheaper price if you know what you're looking for. Mutton, braised brisket, fish eggs, different types of chicken.
After trying Indian Muslim food, you should try Chinese food because their food is not spicy so its suitable for Japanese. Try going to ICC Pudu, lots of stalls in one building.

You made a good choice going to this branch of Nasi Kandar place. I understand non-Malaysian would hesitate to try street food, and I was hoping Chonmage-san would bring you to taste Nasi Lemak at least at Wanjo or Village Park, instead of Bumbung... If you ever wanted to try local food, do try the restaurant version first. Less spices, less sauce, more comfort & better ambiance. You can gradually train your taste buds & stomach to accept the spices & richness of santan (coconut milk) & other heavy greasy fats & sugar. You can then hit the street with ease...
Basic tips for nasi kandar, -don't pick seafood, the price are higher than most places. -if you don't have any favourite sauce, the safe choice is 'kari campur' (mixed curry) the jockey will mix a little bit of everything. Personally I often choose 1 type of curry only.
Nasi lemak with warm teh tarik please.drink before start eating spicy thing. Or else possible got stomach-acne.please buy charcoal pill(all come out if eat anything bad) in pharmacy.just in case.😊😊😊

Malaysia is made up of different races and cultures, the foods are just as diverse, some of the best in the world. oh... if you go to nasi kandar restaurant, do avoid especially the giant squid and prawns, they are the most expensive items, and can cost between RM50-RM100 for each.
*Next time learn use you hand when eating. U r Japanese so when in toilet u use water to wash yourself not tissue paper so when eating u can use your hand. Try whenever u eating rice, use your hand, whatever rice nasi kandar, lemak, minang, etc even sushi. And that the true Malay Asian way.*
