Sometimes before or after transitions in the video they stop or become quieter which is weird. If you look at other videos with this car from other people, you can see that the motor noises are generally louder than the wind noises because the mic in this video doesnt pick up motor noises or they just aren't that loud. I think the wind noises are either fake or the mic is poor.
+Tron Even though it has the aerodynamics of a brick, it is super quiet inside (AMG models are shouty because of reduced insulation and louder engines) due to heavy sound insulation and very thick window glass.

I have to hand it to Mercedes, it seems like enthusiasts are running the show. They're designing and selling anything cool that you can imagine: an AMG G Wagon, an extreme 4x4 G Wagon, a supercar in the AMG GT, a Maybach flagship sedan, and so on. It's like they're now doing everything interesting that they've done in the past 15 years all at once. It's a new golden age for Mercedes.

I mean, it's based on the original G-Wagon and they practically have to think and build around it, because people don't want the core G-Wagon to be altered. Curiously enough the same applies to the Unimog. They very quickly ditched their new design and went back to the classic boxy unique look.

It's actually built in Austria, all G-wagons are, since Mercedes bought the production line from the austrian manufacturer Steyr-Puch.
Because of that I am lucky enough to see those things on the road when they test each and every one by hand. Pretty cool stuff.

Mercedes did not "buy" the line from Steyr. Magna Steyr builds the G for Mercedes an develops new features together with the mercedes engineers. Since K.B. took over as head of the G production , Magna built a whole new production line for the G, also in hinsight of the new model. Und, oida, wo wohnst du? in Plenzengreith?
I'm confused. At $255K you seem to love the G550... but at $230K you hated the AMG G65. You even praise the "basketball cupholder", but slam it in the AMG. I love your videos, but for a guy so keen on the details, well.... you get the idea.

+jonny j Well it definitely sounds like a sound effect. It may not be fake but I don't think it should be entirely ruled out. Sure he can complain, but maybe he added in some more sound for effect. Not to mention his mic was crackling/low quality while driving.

Carbon fiber is strong but brittle. Steel yields at 60% of its tear strength, Carbon fiber yeilds at over 90% of its ultimate strength (often explosively). Glass has more give. In aircraft parts it is usual to include a few layers of kevlar to provide some impact absorbtion.

I believe those orange lights are mandatory because if it's size. If a vehicle is a certain size it needs those clearance lights (I think that's what they're called.) they are supposed to help judge how much roof clearance you have left if you are driving under something like in a covered parking area.
