      @@REB4444 2 yrs later and i still agree, put $150k into a $50k wrangler and you can make it a 6x6 with portal axles, and pretty much insulate all the interior (for a more luxurious drive) and cover it with the most plush and beautiful leather and carbon fiber, and get a custom body kit and make it look insane, and swap a hellcat engine into it, and it'll still cost less than the 4x4 Squared, but be a lot better

    1:00 adding a 6" lift nets exactly no additional ground clearance. It's onlywith larger tires or axle mods that ground clearance is gained.

    • @Offshore1977
      @Offshore1977 6 лет назад +10

      Do R/C! True with solid axles like a Jeep, tires give you the clearance under the diff. With independent suspension, you do get the height with a lift alone.

    • @Creating_Space
      @Creating_Space 6 лет назад +9

      if 9" of ground clearance is with 31s, you'd only have 13.5" with 40s. Definitely not getting anywhere near 18" with a wrangler.

    • @elijahbrooks8589
      @elijahbrooks8589 6 лет назад +4

      LSanti Sorry but lifting the suspension even with ifs ground clearance doesn't change. The lowest point of your frame remains relatively low, lower control arm is not moved until talked tires are added.

    • @Offshore1977
      @Offshore1977 6 лет назад +5

      Elijah Brooks I've installed multiple suspension lifts both on solid and independent axled vehicles. I agree the lower A-arm may not rise but the frame and most everything attached to the frame will go up. Only difference is the axle on a solid axled vehicle will not rise, but everything else will.

    • @fastdude2002
      @fastdude2002 6 лет назад +1

      True a lift does not lift the solid axles but it does raise the frame, transfer case, tranny, etc. and helps you from becoming high centered.

    What a couple of idiots complaining because Mercedes is selling a off road vehicle to people who will never go off road. Do you know how many Corvette owners have never been to a race track? Or for that matter people buying Porsche's, ferrari's, lamborghini's, Maclaren's, Who will do nothing with them but go to Starbucks??? Hell do you know how many people by wranglers and don't go off road? Do you really think that every Ford F150 owner works in construction or has horses to tow any place? Vehicle purchase has very little to do with intended use, People buy vehicles that suit their personality that they can afford, Manufacturers build the vehicles that represent the personalities of their buyers period end of story.

But the problem is, these Pseudo-Offroader is 'Looks' capable on off road but in fact it isn't. too many design flaws are all over it. imagine if Porsche sells overpriced edition of 911which issued with some Polo's engines and sayin it's hard-core and fast as hell. this is it.

    Incredible car and capability. Only Mercedes could get away with making a car like this...but for a car designed decades ago; the car is wayyyy overpriced. The profit margin on these things must be huge. Truly think the base G550 should be closer to the 70-80k price bracket.

    • @CoelhoSports

      As long as its a status symbol it will continue to sell and make Mercedes a really good profit.Plus they really don't need to change anything but the G wagon does have some exclusive colors that you can't get in any other Mercedes vehicle.Its whats best for business and its the old saying don't fix what is not broken .Mercedes did not design the G wagon as a status symbol celebrities and the rich did that for them.

      Well it seems as if they think it can do it all. Although if it to top heavy I'm not sure I would want to hit a deep hole with one wheel or get on a steep sideways angle. The way Romans acting though it seems to me that he thinks it can be half sports car and half rock crawler. I will admit that I like the way it looks. But is abit of reality to much to ask? I guess it is easier though just to admire the way the thing looks and get carried away.Maybe I'm just to used to seeing Roman poke holes in certain other brands that I found it odd that he was so giddy over this one.

    Sorry to tell you this, but the 4x4² is out of production by end of October. If you can find one, buy it now or never! The prices are already rising as seen at the AMG 6x6. This thing can be a very good investment ;-)!

    You get what you pay for... I often wondered why- one would buy a vehicle from Mercedes, when there are ALOT of competitors.-THAT thought quickly leaves your mind, after you have owned one.-- Just search on autotrader for ANYTHING "G" class- and be prepared to be shell shocked on the price. 15year old g wagon, that cost more than a Brand New Jeep..-- It shows the long term capability of the G- Wagon. THEN Drive one..--YEP you see the value.
