Almost exactly two years ago, I released a video about the top five Vice Presidents in history, and holy crap since then 147,646 people have watched it.
Anyway, since that video did surprisingly well, now it’s time to be negative.
So here are the WORST five Vice Presidents in American History, in my opinion. And, similar to my top five Vice Presidents video, I am judging them based on their actions over their entire adult lives, not just during their time as Veep. Also, Vice Presidents who later became President are exempt from this list, and that Mike Pence dude who is currently the Vice President is also exempt.

For the record, John Calhoun is the sixth worst Vice President. Who else did I leave out?
Alsoooo, who should Biden's running mate be?
I think the vice president they had under obama should be bidens vp that's a good idea
Mr. Beat I think Biden’s running mate will be Kamala Harris or Stacey Abrams
Best running mate would be Barack Obama, perfect P and VP uno reverse card.

Reminds me of the Jeopardy host replacement debacle after Alex Trebek died. Mike Richards, the producer, was in charge of hiring a new host, and surprise, picked himself. After 1 week, his shady past and sexual harassment claims on a previous job surfaced and he was fired as host and producer, and his career has taken a huge hit over it. So it backfired big time.

Also for Spiro Agnew, he was there for the reveal and dedication of Stone Mountain stating "We must recall those principles of loyalty, dignity, and honor that shine through the men we commemorate today." And those men were Jefferson Davis, Stonewall Jackson, and Robert E. Lee

I thank you endlessly for boldly stating the truth: Dick Cheney was awful.
I am tired of all the people who say "TOO RECENT" to quell any meaningful discussion of the Bush presidency.
I was raised in a very anti-Iraq War house and I was indoctrinated to hate Dick Cheney at 8 years old.
Since then, I have traveled, met all sorts of new people, experienced many life events, went to college and just became a more well-reasoned person.
Today, I still hate Dick Cheney. I have often had existential dread as my life has changed. But i take comfort in the fact: I will always hate Dick Cheney.
“Too recent”
It was literally 20 years ago. I’m shocked that people consider that to be recent.
Cheney was a badass though ngl
While I agree that Dick Cheney was one of the most despicable characters in US History and is certainly in some sort of evil podium in World History as well, I mean, we need to separate the concept of "bad" from "ineffective", because Cheney literally succeeded in everything he wanted to do. Which is scary. But the point is that he's different from Dan Quayle who was just an idiot.

Great Moments in Dan Quayle history with some of his quotes:
"Republicans understand the importance of bondage between a mother and child."
"One word sums up probably the responsibility of any vice president, and that one word is 'to be prepared'."
"We don't want to go back to tomorrow, we want to go forward."
"I have made good judgements in the Past. I have made good judgements in the Future."
"The future will be better tomorrow."
"I am not part of the problem. I am a Republican."
"I love California, I practically grew up in Phoenix."
"A low voter turnout is an indication of fewer people going to the polls."
"We have a firm commitment to NATO, we are a *part* of NATO. We have a firm commitment to Europe. We are a *part* of Europe."
"It isn't pollution that's harming the environment. It's the impurities in our air and water that are doing it."
"For NASA, space is still a high priority."
"[It's] time for the human race to enter the solar system."
"I stand by all the misstatements that I've made."

Yep, another one of his unforgettable nuggets of idiocy.😢😢

*You wish!*
Go F Yourself lmao!
I'm glad you put Cheney as #1. I don't think any VP has been more damaging to the country than he.
I disagree that Cheney is the worst VP. He never was VP. He actually ran the country for Bush the Second. 🤣🤣🤣
Yea he should be on worst presidents list
Bush should have replaced Cheney
@@brianvivickers3712 I think he should've replaced Cheney with John McCain in 2004
@@bills2843 Good point! McCain was the best candidate the Republicans put on the ballot for President in a very long time. Instead he picked the worst possible running mate and the rest is history. She was the precursor to Trump by proving being an idiot could be popular among a fairly large group of people. I don't think McCain would have worked for Bush as he was smarter than that. He likely thought Bush 43 was unintelligent.
@@wannabetowasabe McCain did think that Bush 43 was unintelligent but I think McCain wouldn't decline the opportunity to be Vice President. He would accept the Vice Presidency to help Bush because he respected Bush. We all know how honorable of a man John McCain was. Maybe Bush's approval ratings might not have plummeted that bad if he had McCain to assist him.
The GOP has ended up going more and more conservative. They're going to such a level that it sounds totally absurd. That's why republicans are losing their majorities in the Senate and House of Representatives. They are simply appealing to the conservatives and not to the moderates. The moderates play an important role in swinging the votes.
I realized that most of the warhawks are draft evaders (Cheney, Bolton, Quayle and etc)

Now here's something I've been thinking about lately: What if George HW Bush the 1st picked Dick Cheney as a VP and George W Bush the 2nd picked Dan Quayle at the same position? Like, both presidents Bush swapping VPs.
Both wouldn't have ended up on this list, I think
I personally think Cheney used 9/11 to justify all of the Bush-era policies, which hadn't happened under HW, and I feel that Cheney would have had a much more difficult time getting that policy through
And Quayle didn't really do anything terrible and I doubt he would've suddenly changed that approach post-9/11, instead allowing Bush to do his own thing without Cheney's influence
Officially, you're one of my favorite RUclipsrs out here!

Would you consider doing a video about the Best and Worst Speakers of the House? A breakdown of the different leadership positions in the House and Senate could also be really interesting as I have no idea what most of them do.
Aaron Burr is also responsible for creating both Tammany Hall AND the Senate Filibuster. If thats not a deserving spot for #1, idk what is.
Ahhh the fillibuster, the stake with wich bipartisanship essentially died, (although generally much later than its first itteration). He also created one of the first powerful political machines so there is that. Mad how someone who knew George Washington and his loathe of party politics could invent something like that.
He was certainly ahead of his times as beats says, but not all of it in a good way.
How about literally murdering Hamilton over some stupid fued.
Cheney was even worse.
The fact that Dick Cheney was worse that's about the only thing that could do it and there you go there's your answer
I wish people would realize if the filibuster is done away with, that’ll mean any horrible policy will be possible in the senate... I mean look how great that’s gone eliminating it for judicial nominees. Cheney was still far worse.

What you mentioned about Cheney profitting from war is unfortunately true about a massive number of members of congress. And this isn't a theory, it's publicly known fact since their financial records are required to be made public. I don't remember how many by now but I do recall that an absurdly large quantity of both senators and representatives buy significant parts of defense companies, then make sure that those companies get huge government contracts, where you'll have things like a sock costing hundreds of dollars (I made that particular example up, but that is how ridiculous it gets and I don't remember any actual examples)

Teach them /how/ to think, not /what/ to think. I can definitely get behind that
Heck yeah
@@iammrbeat I have had history teachers like that. I have also had history teachers that actually did try to indoctrinate their students to a particular point of view. I have also seen some schools pressured to teach certain subjects a certain way by state officials, school boards, and/or angry parents. I love history, but over the years I have DEFINITELY had to un-learn some of the lies I "learned".
When I was in elementary school in Ohio back in the 1990’s, schools were first starting to do standardized testing of their students. Teachers had to set aside a couple of days in the school year for all the students in the school to sit down and bubble-in multiple choice answers in a cheap booklet printed on thin, easily-torn paper. The teachers and the school were going to be graded on how well we students performed on this boring, menial test. Therefore, as I sat in the classroom waiting for the Social Studies portion of the test to be passed out, the teacher told us all, “Okay, class, on question 14 when it asks ‘Where did the Founding Fathers get the idea for the Constitution?’, the correct answer is ‘B: The Iroquois Confederacy.’ Yes, I know that isn’t actually the correct answer, and you all know that, too, but that’s the answer the state wants.”
Yes, really, she actually said that.
I remember that specifically because I thought it was incredibly strange. I mean, we had just recently learned in history class that the Founding Fathers drew inspiration from many sources when writing the Constitution. Why was the state government wanting us to say that only one of those inspirations mattered? Looking back on this today, as a full-grown adult, it seems clear to me that someone in either Ohio’s education department or the company that made these standardized tests had a political agenda and was trying to get all the schools to teach to that agenda.
