I'm 45 and in the early to mid eighties, every radio station on the dial seem to play Stairway to Heaven once an hour on the hour. It honestly took until about 2010-2015 or I could listen to this and actually truly enjoy it again.
@@RobwLPOC 52 here and same. I haven't enjoyed this song since sometime in the mid-eighties. This is literally the first time I've intentionally listened to it in decades. Grew up in the 70's...For a long time, I had that "Oh, o.k., 'Stairway to Heaven' again" reaction when it came on the radio, but I always started getting into it when the drums start...
This guitar solo was the first solo I ever thought was beautiful instead of just intense. It isn’t random notes strung together that just happen to be in one key, it is a work of art.
It was this song and Bohemian Rhapsody immediately after that sent me down the rock/metal rabbit hole. Don’t know which is my favorite of the two, but both are about as close to perfection as a rock song can get.

This song has a significant memories for me. In my early 20's (45 now) I was addicted to Herion. Rehab never worked. Guess I wasn't ready or I was just too scared of being without it. Long story short, I ended up incarcerated in prison due to my addiction. I remember getting out to the rec yard and was walking around the track when guards starting playing this over the P.A system. It was an old prison and the sun was going down. Setting was amazing. I sat along the fence like I was the only soul on the planet just thinking about how if I don't get clean in this 3 year bid, I'm gonna be climbing that "Stairway to heaven". Been clean 15 years. Thanks for the reaction video.
I'm someone who has never once used an illegal or recreational drug, but I try to see the human side of this and I appreciate hearing stories like yours so I can better understand what people are going through. I know this is way off topic, but this is why I am so against that the president of the Philippines had done to "solve" their drug problem. They literally send out armed killers with names and addresses who went out into the night and murdered THOUSANDS of drug users, most of whom I believe weren't bad people, but got into an addiction. Murdering them was highly unjust. Go after the suppliers and help the users.
That's the way you listen to LED Zeppelin. No pausing, no interruptions, no constant commentary. The music speaks for itself. I saw myself listening to this for the first time 52 years ago in your reaction. Absolute perfection. Great job. Thanks for doing this. I enjoyed it as much as you did. It brought back memories from something long ago and made me so glad that younger people still have an appreciation for something as iconic as Stairway to Heaven.
Look up the video of their Kennedy Center honors and watch Heart cover this in front of Zeppelin. Robert Plant teared up and Jimmy Page was all smiles and jamming to it. It’s truly amazing!
Jimmy Page said the following about Stairway: "As a studio musician, you are taught to never speed up. I wanted to do a song that broke that rule," Notice how the tempo slowly quickens as more instruments come in down the line.
Bohemian Rhapsody also used to make the top of the list back in the day I think. Rhapsody is a masterpiece no doubt, but "More Than a Feeling" and "Tom Sawyer" tie for the number one spot for me personally. I must have heard each of them several hundred times or more since they first came out so many years ago. It's interesting to note that both Rhapsody and Stairway are composed of multiple segments of increasing tempo and intensity, culminating in a heavy rock crescendo and a then a slow coda at the end. When the drums kick in at 5:03 or so, it's so satisfying as the song starts to pick up speed.
The solo into that climax in this song.....is epic. One of the most touching tribute in rock history ever is when Ann and Nancy Wilson with Jason Bonham on drums performed this song in front of the remaining members.

You see why we loved growing up in the 60's and 70's. These bands and songs just kept showing up one after another. Every time you turned on the radio there was a new song or a friend was telling you about a new album he got from a new band that you had to hear. It was great - as far as music that is.
Just found you and I love your genuine reactions. It’s refreshing. But fam, you gotta listen to Jimi Hendrix. Voodoo child, Foxey lady, purple haze are all iconic songs of his that are recognizable. At their live gigs Zep had a habit of turning one of their standards in to an extended version. At Knebworth, August 1979, they did this with Stairway, it running to 20 or more minutes. Jimmy Page did a long solo, including a section playing his guitar with a violin bow. He was standing in the middle of a spinning green cone of laser-light, with a reflector on the end of the bow shooting green streaks across the heads of the crowd. Yes, I was there.

Best BAND EVER!! My regret I never saw them in concert‼️‼️‼️ This was our SLOW DANCE SONG IN HIGH SCHOOL‼️‼️‼️‼️
It's nice to see that someone nowadays can appreciate a song without having to have a video attached to it. You're the man. That's just an expression, not a political statement. 😜
You see why we loved growing up in the 60's and 70's. These bands and songs just kept showing up one after another. Every time you turned on the radio there was a new song or a friend was telling you about a new album he got from a new band that you had to hear. It was great - as far as music that is.
"I caught myself making a dumb-face..."
EVERYONE does while listening to this song.
I loved your reaction. I grew up with this group. ♥️👏👏👏👍🇦🇺
I was 12 years old when this song was released, has been my favorite for 55 years
The build-up sets the tone and then everything starting from the guitar solo on is what made this one of if not the greatest rock songs ever.
This is why we just bounce around banging our heads up and down as you don't dance to it you feel it and well you did the same thing.
Just found you and I love your genuine reactions. It’s refreshing. But fam, you gotta listen to Jimi Hendrix. Voodoo child, Foxey lady, purple haze are all iconic songs of his that are recognizable. But I recommend “Night bird flying” because I think it’s peak Hendrix. It’s a sound that I haven’t heard from anyone else. Free and bold like an eagle.
Should search the pink floyd before dark side.... echoes, atom heart mother, if, fearless, saurceful of secrets, etc thats good material to react :P
Dude ... watching your reaction brought tears to my eyes. Loved that!!! Thank you for appreciating this gorgeous song
Thank you, thank you, thank you for reacting without stopping it
I enjoy your discoveries and reactions to music! Keep on discovering!
This is my #1. Gonna be at my funeral. So it live. Jimmie Paige is masterful. We were high every night listened to this before going home. It just came out. We were hooked for life. Live you💝💝😍😍
saw them live 1974 i think about it alot I love you love them dig up some early songs they did rock at its best
Yeah! Late to the party, but you brought me right back. Gave me the same chills I got 40 years ago. Thanks!
It's been number one on some of the top 100 best rock song lists. Number one in mine too. Zeppelin is the number one hard rock group of all time in my opinion. But my favorite group is YES. Number one progressive rock group in my opinion.
Man, I just love watching your reactions to this epic classic songs. I envy you because you get only get one chance to hear songs like this for the first time. YOU know YOUR soul is alive and flourishing by the way you love these songs. Thank you!
React to Pink Floyd - Shine On You Crazy Diamond Part 6-9, trust me 😉
I have played this when i was a night club DJ in the late 70s and early 80s... There used to be such a thing as a slow spot where we use to slow dance with your loved one. This was a good tune to transition to a rocking finale....
Physical Graffiti, Led Zeppelin, All of the songs on that album are GREAT, gives me chills, I'm 65 and still rockin with them, it's so much fun to watch you hear songs for the first time, I can still remember, Oh my, what a GREAT band!! Please listen to for the first time for us!💜
I love your take bro. Can tell you're a careful listener and that you have an appreciation for composition and art in general. Just watched a few of your videos and I had to subscribe. Be well my friend 🙏
Fabulous...love your honesty!!!🤗🤗🌞
Watching this song performed live moves it up to an even higher level of greatness!
i love watching him, i just found him yesterday, its also amazing to see the music live on and on and on !!!
Im glad u lile our generation of music
At their live gigs Zep had a habit of turning one of their standards in to an extended version. At Knebworth, August 1979, they did this with Stairway, it running to 20 or more minutes. Jimmy Page did a long solo, including a section playing his guitar with a violin bow. He was standing in the middle of a spinning green cone of laser-light, with a reflector on the end of the bow shooting green streaks across the heads of the crowd. Yes, I was there.
no you weren't ... 😉 just jealous
@@tommythompson9565 And, as I lived in Stevenage, I was able to walk home afterwards and sleep in my own bed...
@@gijgij4541 Rock 'n Roll utopia, bro. I missed a Zep concert scheduled for the Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana. In 1977. I had my ticket. Plant's son died right before the concert was to take place. I was 18 years old then. Just graduated from high school.
I grew up listening to this music.Enjoy the best music ever made!
Great reaction to the best rock song of all time!
Probably the best rock song ever written. Zeppelin is a deep dive because they had so much good music. You should watch Heart perform this song as a tribute to Led Zeppelin at the Kennedy Center. They did the song justice.
Led Zeppelin - Kashmir (Live from Celebration Day)
Best thing on RUclips.
We were so lucky. The music we grew up with. Still stands up to the test of time.
I enjoyed watching you take that trip! 🎧 💓 🎶
I love this song. I always have, always will!!
