This is often referred to as the greatest rock song of all time for a reason. Led Zeppelin are legends, the best rock band ever, period. Try listening to "Dazed and Confused", "Rock and Roll", or "The Lemon Song" just to name a few. 🤘🤘
Slow down brother, this is only his second time listening to Zep - if you throw him into Dazed and Confused and The Lemon Song too quick you're gonna blow the poor guy's brain! LOL
There is a Yardbirds version of Dazed and Confused out there I ran across recently. I never knew it existed till I stumbled on it looking for Jimmy Page/Yardbirds stuff. Cool comparing and contrasting Keith Relf lyrics and singing with Robert Plant.
best band ever, if youre serious about doing more zep then i HIGHLY recommend doing each album in order from beggining to end, they litterally dont have a single BAD song
Nah.. there are a few quite boring ones. Like "since I've been loving you" is a snooze fest. Mind you - every bit of it you can here they're great musicians, and there's no denying it. But they do have a few boring songs. Still, one of top five bands in my book. :D. Not an altar of perfection though.
I love it when he says "intro's playing and I'm not recognising anything". Wow. Probably a billion people can recognise this song within the first bar. But I guess anyone born in the 25 years must have somehow missed it. I can only blame their parents!
"This is actually a vibe bro" 🤣 probably the most iconic rock song ever written. Long suggestion...do Led Zeppelin's No Quarter and follow it with TOOL'S re-imagined cover. It's stunning.
Love the reaction after the solo when Plant starts bringing it. Eyes about popped out of his head. If you want something that kicks unexpectedly, “Babe, I’m going to leave you.”
This is the first Zeppelin song I heard. I was 14. My best friend said she knew I'd love them when she introduced them to me via cassete tape.. I'm now 54. Still listening to their music
If you like flute, you should check out another classic rock band Jethro Tull. You've most likely heard at least part of Locomotive Breath or Aqualung.
THIS IS THE GREATEST ROCK ANTHEM/SONG OF ALL TIME!! about the lyrics AND as we wind on down the road, our shadows taller than our souls, there walks a lady we all know, who shines bright light and wants to show, how everything still turns to gold, and if you listen very hard, the truth will come to you at last, when one is all, and all is one, to be a rock, and NOT to roll, ....The lady, finds salvation, finds the true light to heaven. And its still ALL GOLD! When you give up your materialistic ways!
Have you listened to since I've been loving you, you should find as much as Zeppelin as you can, when the levee breaks is another monster. Greatest rock band in history.
This was always the last song at our teen dances. It was the longest song lol I forget that young people don't know a lot of our music. My kids know it but I love music and I felt it was important for them to know it! It is raw passion, sheer talent and unbridled creativity. Sign of the times! Great music, amazing memories! Enjoy!!
When the levee breaks is another great song. Beastie Boys used the beat for their first song on their first album License to I’ll. The song is called. Rhymin and Stealin
best guitar riff of all time the forbiden riff , their "homage" at the Kennedy center 2012 is very nice this is the last song in it :-) P.s Mr Jimmy Page is one of the best guitar players ever
Ty E, I'm curious. Would #2 be Free Bird, the live version recorded at the Fox Theater in Atlanta? We had a classic rock station that counted down the top 96 songs of all time as voted on by their listeners every New Years Eve, would always ring in the new year with Stairway.
Yikes, I took a look on line as their top 500 list for 2022 was posted in May. Freebird was #2 (my graduating class song). But I was shocked to see Stairway dropped all the way to #30. Who made this list this year? The Stones Sympathy for the Devil Came in at #3. Zep came in at #4 with Black Dog. But it was Pink Floyd's Money that took the #1 spot. Now I like some Pink Floyd but Money?
I was a bigger Pink Floyd fan than I was Zeppelin. Anything from Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, & The Wall. The only Pink Floyd that made our top ten was Comfortably Numb. I guess Money was up there as it got more air time than any of their music. Good to meet you. I'm 64, Class of 76 & from Texas.
When I first heard that Heart had covered THE song all I could think was "NO man, you don't do that song! You just don't!" Then I heard it. Hat's off to Anne and Nancy, man - they did it justice!
I have to agree with @Mike B here you just don't cover this song. It's been the #1 top song on Memorial Day and labor day weekends for almost 50 years. Heart and the choir did it justice and with Jason on the drums wearing his Dad's hat 💗 This is the only song that if it's playing you never turn it off, get out of a car, leave a bar, or anywhere until it's over out of pure Rock & Roll respect. Led Zeppelin Best Rock group ever!!!!!
The reason why they called themselves "Led Zeppelin" is because of this song. Led is heavy. Zeppelin is light. That's their 2 completely different styles within in the same song. Light in the beginning, heavy at the end!
@@oldskool1977 the name came from a music executive who upon hearing who was in the band, and what they were playing said "they'll go down like a lead zeppelin". They dropped the E in lead and went with led zeppelin.
We older folk have done a disservice to this younger generation by not sharing music from our generation. When we heard this song at every school dance we knew it was time to grab our favourite girl or guy for the last slow song of the night not wanting the song or dance to end. I miss those days. The days the youth will never experience like we did. Glad to see young fellows like this one rediscovering the greatest music of all time. Led zeppelin is timeless and will be around forever.
Loved the reaction! Now that you've heard Zeppelin do this (one of their most popular songs) you need to check out Heart's tribute to them (with them in the audience) at the Kennedy Center . . . phenomenal!
That was a recorder at the beginning. John Paul Jones the bass player was playing it. Live he plays it on the keyboards but in the studio he used an actual recorder.
You really want want to listen to one of the live versions I think the One from the Kennedy Centre is one of the best. Robert Plant's Voice with Jimmy Paige using the twin necked guitar designed by him (so he did not have to swap guitars mid number) John Bonham's drums & In my mind one of the most underated bass players John Paul (i can play anything) Jones who is alleged to have played the bass with his foot while playing the melotron keyboard with his hands. It really comes together in that live performance.
Greatest band ever!!! Checkout this song live.. Jimmy Page's solo is incredible! If you enjoy what you've heard so far, I suggest checking out each album starting with Led Zeppelin 1...
You not online get American rock. Roll. But you get Mississippi Delta Blues. Which is its basis. Page was a studio musician and loved that style. He is a genius that could replicate blues greats, but mastered it into Rick format. Bonham. The drummer is a god😊 too😅

When teens were learning the guitar, this was always the first song they wanted to master. If you could play this, you were very cool!
It's just amazing to us old folks that someone has never heard the best rock song ever.
Back in 2012 HEART teamed up with JASON BONHAM (son of Led Zeppelin's drummer) and did a tribute rendition of this song that was beautiful.
So, obviously it wasn't in 2020, because, how would you explain Obama being President in 2020? It's from 2012.
Heart's version is amazing
“This is so chill” … but wait, there’s more 😁🤘🏼
"This might just be a chill song" and Led Zepplin says, "Hold my beer!"
This song was my childhood lullaby!!! Every time I hear it now I spark up a j!

#1 Requested rock song from 1973-1999 on rock radio stations across America.
The "flutes" at the beginning are actually a woodwind instrument called a recorder. Very old school.

I think this was the “most overplayed song on radio” at one time. Love your reactions. Priceless
This is my most favorite song ever...glad you finally covered it. :)
Every Led Zeppelin's song is a crescendo with an emotional ending.
One of the best band of all times.
Even when compared to other genre legends.

Best times of my young life was listening to this song smoking a joint drinking a beer and discussing these lyrics with my friends.
Now go check out the Led Zeppelin tribute at the 2012 Kennedy Center Honors. This song will blow your mind.
Recommend you start with the first album and go from there. Some great blues tracks on Zep 1!
Rock music achieves perfection when the drums kick in on Stairway to Heaven.
Best band ever!
Real music by Real musicians. No sampling, no auto tune, and real lyrics.

One of the most frequently played songs in rock radio history. I think it's number three all time
That was a recorder at the beginning. John Paul Jones the bass player was playing it. Live he plays it on the keyboards but in the studio he used an actual recorder.
Robert Plant, don't worry about the lyrics, it's taken us years to figures this out! It's the feeling.
