I found a glitch in COD4 & only told 1 person online ever, & it worked in WaW too. On Xbox 360 with 2 gamer profiles, you get one to max level through legit play. Make custom classes with the max level account, then back out to main menu & go back into the class menu with the other controller on the low level account. Everything you picked, including perks would be unlocked permanently until your next prestige! Only reason I told that one guy was because he noticed I had UAV Jammer & Dead Silence around lvl 5 while playing Cage Match lol.
I done this same method on cod 4 back in the days to full gamerscore the game in my dad's profile 😂 literally load up a profile that's completed everything click a on menu then switch accounts 😂 then all achievements pop

It's insane that games like Bo2 you don't need any modded console or anything, just go to theatre mode and watch infected videos and get mod menus. The fact they haven't fixed that, probably never will and still charge full retail price for bo2 digitally is wild.

The old way was the CodTV section, that gives errors now, but you can go to leaderboards and look at any of the top players file shares, or in the community tab lol. Only way for Activision to fix this shit is to factory reset the entire game, reset everyones accounts, but they won't do that so there is no fixing it.

On Cod 4 I remember I got deranked below level 1 and the 'find match' was greyed out saying 'you must be level 1 to play'. The only way I was able to play was by joining peoples session until someone was able to rank me up.
I remember coming across a modder in literally my first game of MW3 in 2011. I was playing on the map *Interchange* and someone had modded the lobby so everyone was running at like 5x the speed the player would normally move at. Definitely not the worst experience with hackers, but it was certainly shocking at the time to see mods in a brand new game on launch day.

I played WaW WAY after it’s prime, but someone actually gave me mods somehow and even changed my loadout names, where it had different colored text. I could fly around, was invincible and it was cool for a bit. For obvious moral reasons, I didn’t abuse it and instead just observed the few games I played if my memory serves me right. The mods all disappeared as soon as I turned off the game. I kept the modded names for my loadouts as a reminder of that one time. Beyond these two stories, I can’t think of any other times I dealt with modders/hackers other than when playing modern Call of Duty.
The good old injection hacks, I remember back in MW2 ground war sized FFA lobbies on rust, fully auto noobtubes and RPGs some of these hacks where great fun, some where annoying AF. @@ChaseSeaborne

Not sure about this dude but years ago you could infect users with an xbox r2r menu and that had no clip in clip in public match. If he was the firs it was replicated for awhile I tangy, flying turnip and some others are who I remember having some cool stuff.

I’ve been banned twice on ps5, using a stock ps5 controller. Speaking on how it impacts normal players, there was a year where the haptic feedback triggers on the stock ps5 controller would be picked up is irregular and get some people banned. Some were permanent despite Activision acknowledging the mistake
old xbox controllers could be rapid fire modded with 1 wire, everyone was doing it themselves in the cod4/waw era. Blackops did try to stop it, but then jittermod chips came out
I'm surprised that rapid fire was EVER an issue. I thought limiting the firing rate of semiauto guns has been a balancing and realism tool in FPS games for about as long as FPSs have even existed.
@@Dee_Just_Dee it was notorious in call of duty 4 for not having a limit. The pistols would shoot ridiculously fast like a Glock switch on a real pistol. The Barrett 50 in mw2 also was hilarious as it shot so fast the gun would empty the whole magazine and move across the screen in less than a second. When they tried implementing fixes and slowing fire rates with later games, jitter came out which iirc slammed the reload button while shooting, allowing for full auto again on burst and even pump shot guns. (Blackops 1) Then in blackops 2 you could make burst fire weapons full auto, just by holding down fire and flicking your mouse wheel to constantly change weapons while still firing, making RK5s and the like full auto, no mod required. It took them a long time to get it right lol
So on the jtag xbox key spoofing, it was illegal because it could be considered theft. What those key "generators" would do is just find a xbox with a good key and mimic that xbox. Essentially "stealing" its key. It happened to my xbox and i dealt with microsoft for about a month and a half because my key was compromised. Never got comped for that lost time of gold
Literally the same thing happened to me. Right in the midst of Halo 3. Unfortunately I was so busy getting into the Army that I didn’t have time to do anything about it until I got back from my first deployment and just bought a new Xbox. Still very salty about that because it’s the only Halo Multiplayer I didn’t get to enjoy and it’s probably going to go down in history as the best one. 🤷🏼

It is not only stealing it is the very definition of "hacking" which is also illegal obviously. You can't just breach and circumvent somebodys firmware/software and security messures because you bought a device.
3:05, Here's the thing about that: they didn't tell the entire truth. They switched to a hybrid setup, not fully dedicated servers. They even publicly admitted that later on, making the sale of the game a false pretense condition. They got away with it too. Even now, in 2024, people can still lag switch in CoD. Some have even accomplished making software that does it, and all the cheater has to do is set a macro on their controls to activate it. Can't tell the fanboys that though, and that makes for an incredibly frustrating discussion. Let them tell it, CoD is flawless every generation, every ban is a false ban, no one cheats, and the people complaining are just buns at the game.
The fan boys are so dense that they say the games are amazing when there's literally a patented AI that manipulates the gameplay, skill means nothing anymore. Back in MW2 I stopped my progression at 9th prestige because I liked the emblem much better than the 10th prestige emblem. I got invited to a game by my friend and I didn’t know it but it was a prestige lobby. I immediately got put up to max level 10th prestige and I was so pissed. I had the stupid spinning 10th prestige emblem that, as far as I remember, didn’t even have a legitimate way to unlock it in game. I never forgave my friend for inviting me to that fucking lobby and ruining my account.
@@JustHam09 I don’t think that was an option at the time that it happened to me. Or at least it wasn’t an option in that lobby. I guess it’s possible that I just overlooked it, but I’m pretty sure I didn’t. This was pretty early on as far as jtag’s were concerned. They were pretty new and it was pretty rare to even know about those lobbies unless you were part of a jtag/cheating forum. I had heard about jtag and come across people using them for cheats in matchmaking, but even that was pretty uncommon at that time. I don’t think I even learned that down-ranking or resetting your level was a thing until after I had moved on to other games.

Idk why but randomly, og cod 4 gets really populated on 360. Mostly tdm and free for all. Since Microsoft is adding them to game pass I think the player pool is a bit bigger now. Been a minute since I got on, but last summer literally had 0 problems finding a match. It was wild.
I remember the javelin glitch! My buddy explained to me how it worked and I used it for like one match and said oh that's funny, whatever. Moved on with my life. Within a day or two I got a 24-hour Xbox Ban lol I remember I was mid game playing a match on Wasteland when the ban dropped.
Xbox would hand out those 24 hr bans like candy. Still remember when i was 14 in the mw2 days i put “i hate blue balls!” As my bio and i got a 24hr ban citing my bio as the reason lol.
@@mattnmad38 also depends on the glitch though. stuff like MW2's marathon pro and care package runspeed knife-only, or akimbo 1887's having m16 range is exploitable but decidedly not punishable. the barrier for entry matters.
Glitches are fine you can't get banned for those and you shouldn't but exploits are different you still can't get banned for them unless a dev sees you and you're on PC.but exploiting gives you an unfair advantage that's the gray area
The shadow ban lobbies were abused horribly for a little bit where just getting reported enough gets you sent to the shadow realm. So whole teams in lobbies would spam report a single player in a lobby for all options and after a while of this happening just following the player through lobbies by joining on them, the victim is stuck in the shadow ban lobbies until Activision confirms all reports as false.
I remember when I used to play bo2 multiplayer on ps3 there would be people that hack in a zombie mode but it's still in multiplayer, 1 team is "zombies" and the other team is the survivors and we would all get wallbuys, mystery box, and a giant platform made out of the care package box model. It was all put together with scraps, but it was so fun.
i loooooooved the days of blops1 wii hacker scene, they were so cool as a kid and for the most part they were really chill dudes. there was a guy named summer i remember theyd do things that were common on the other consoles but it was for everyone, crouch knife mod menus. custom zombies matches in multiplayer where a person became the zombie with the ballistic knife and the modder would shoot unusable care packages to make walls and forts. good times
I remember when I was about 8 I told one of my friends that I had bo1 on the wii. He didn't know it existed on the wii and he had a wii as well, so I said "Sweet! You have internet and I don't so I'll bring my disk over and we can play some bo1 zombies online". We spent about 2 hours trying to find a lobby without modders or hackers before finally giving up.
Seeing this video has brought back so much nostalgia! I used to make the menus for COD 4, WAW and MW2 for the Jailbroken PS3 back in the day, it was peak gaming for me. So much fun was had in private matches with friends playing custom maps, game modes etc to building care package forts!
Jtagging was the reason I always progressed to 9th prestige, but no further. Who is gonna use cheats to get to 9th prestige instead of 10th? That way, everyone knows my rank is legit.

23:40 vac bans visually disappear from accounts after 7 years now, but the vac ban still exists. Vac ban's have been removed before in some rare circumstances though so it really may have been removed.

Makes me secretly want to cross paths with Camomo_10 (youtuber who moderates some Rust servers and loves to troll and chastise cheaters... he's able to look up whether players have a VAC ban history of any kind). I don't think I've ever had a VAC ban, and the last time I ever ran cheats on a PC game was some 22 years ago when Steam was in its absolute infancy.
A few related things I’ve highlighted Ricochet anti cheat is meant to detect hack/mod tools and automatically ban you, it also runs off player reports too. So if several people report you for being sus or just outright good at the game after a certain amount of reports it will ricochet you into a shadow ban you. It will kick you out of your current game and show everyone in the game the ricochet logo so they’re going to think you’re cheating. You’re then in a shadow ban lobby until it gets reviewed, normally takes a few weeks until you’re then permanently banned or go back into normal lobbies with everyone.
My friend group had a couple of modded controllers that we would use as handicaps or to spice things up in Halo 1 and 2. Halo 1 especially was amusing with this, as you could unload an entire energy pistol in a few rapid bursts, and kill most targets with them in doing so. Great fun!
speaking of modded controllers. They've made it to where it's just an attachment to your first party controller and intercepts controller input. It can do all sorts of crazy stuff like shake the screen slightly to make aim assist work better for example. Also it could make you crouch and stand over and over while aiming down sights making you harder to hit while only aiming down sights. however they're sold as a set of paddles as an addon for your controller.
A misconception about cheating in video games is that cheating = hacking or hacking and exploiting are the same thing. Hacking is changing the way a game behaves (usually to gain an advantage). Exploiting is using bugs in a game to gain an advantage.
The old quarantine zombie/zombieland mod on mw2 was soo sick if you remember that. Used to get in those lobbies a ton back in 2010. Wish there was more mods like that lol.
I still remember multiple people telling me to turn my rapid fire modded controller off back in the day in BO zombies. The irony was I was in fact playing on a modded controller with a high quality rapid fire mod but never used it. Was super excited when an older family member came around and modded it for me. Even swapped out the LED's and analog sticks.
In 2020, maybe 2021. A friend and I loaded into a mw2019 match and quickly noticed that the game was somehow set to headshots only. Turns out a guy in our lobby had somehow set it to be that way. It was actually really fun, I kinda wish they just made that a mode. We talked to him after the match and he said he was gonna do another one soon and that he’d invite us, but we checked his account a few hours later and he got banned.
I remember joining a modded Zombies lobby in World at War that one of my friends was in and I got literally every achievement in the game. It was one of the only games I had all achievements for for a while lol.
I remember a guy in like 2011-2012 giving me a Nuke in a care package infection for MW2, it made so I had a 100% of getting a nuke in a care package, it was fun to mess around with for awhile especially if the enemy team was winning if I remember correctly it only worked for me or the person who had it. And there was also a way to make it so nobody else could get the care package. So I trolled so hard with that throwing care packages outside the map seeing everyone go for it because it had the nuke symbol above it. 😂
The 10th Prestige in MW2 Lobbies typically weren’t automatic… You actually received enough XP to max the Prestige You were on with one kill, unlocking all the skins/camos (every challenge completed for every weapon) and got you to Level 70. You’d back out of the lobby, Prestige there as normal, get reinvited to the lobby and rinse/repeat 9 more times (or how ever many you preferred as I personally knew a lot of people who liked 9th prestige’s icon more than 10th prestige, myself included). If they upgraded them to just auto-10th prestige then hell yeah, sad I missed those. 😂
one of the worst cheats I’ve faced literally just locked the enemy in place. They were using it on the new mw3 and you were just stuck in the match until it finished or you turned the console off. No inputs worked and you wouldn’t be kicked.
I can still remember a glitch to get out of the map on Karachi in MW2, it was unless in trying to kill players in the match. But I remember there was a spot where you could fall forever with out dying. But the game didn't think you was failing, so if you had marathon and lightweight perks on, you could max them out in a game or 2. Giving you easy XP and the Pro perks super easy.
COD expert here. I'm currently at 2,556 hours between MW2, MW3 and BO6 (COD HQ) Xim was banned by Microsoft and Sony. Ricochet has done nothing to help cheaters. It actually made it worse because it advertised that cheating was a thing to people who didn't know cheating was that bad. I play on PS5. The amount of PC player I go against is crazy. BO6 Beta had cheaters. THE BETA!
God this video gives me flashbacks to infection lobbies on the OG MW. Remember having to look up some dudes GT, send a private chat, and then join his lobby if he left his xbox on in order to get them.
waw some guy gave me a mod menu, that never went away. then in mw3 some guy gave me a mod menu that lasted a week and they reset my account, sad but i was young and didnt think about how boring cheating was yet lol
Here’s the problem with going after the cheat developers. I’m speaking from counterstrike experience here but a lot of these cheat developers are located in European countries. Some of the largest cheat developers for csgo are from Germany and Russia
My brother and one of his mates were 10th prestige lobby hosts back on mw2 and 3. He was recently telling me about it after modding came up in a convo we had. If anyone who played back then as well remembers "Geeza Mods" or something along those lines, then that was him.
Late days of old MW3 got matched against a guy running god mode and invisibility in S&D, i switched to my troll LSW with rapid fire and managed to kill him, 5 minutes later i lost all of my progress and stats in multiplayer, it annoyed me but it didn't take too long to get everything back. Its just sad to cheat, if you have to cheat to have fun then don't play the game in the first place.
At least the modern gave you 11th prestige in WaW. My younger brother got deranked to which he could only play Basic Training which you couldn’t find a match to level up to play the in the standard matchmaking pool.
4:30 Man, I remember practicing my trigger finger technique so I could full-fire in MW2 and Gears of War 2. Barret .50 and Deagle for MW2 (sometimes the FAL), Hammerburst for GoW2. Got so many accusations of modding, but there were just specific techniques you could do to rapid-fire.
I actually hopped on MW3 multiplayer on a series x and the prestige cheats are still going on. Pretty annoying as it happened twice through the matchmaking menu.
there was a genuinely obnoxious glitch/cheat in black ops 3 where if you connect splitscreen you can make you character completely invisible and just become an unkillable menace in the server. i had to stop playing blops3 because it was became a thing in most matches
I had a legit bug happen to me (twice!) in 360 WaW that would reset my profile back to level 1 with a pistol im every slot. Pistol for perks, pistol for grenades, pistol for everything. After that the the profile was permanently bugged where you couldn't use default items in create-a-class. The bug would happen if i went to search for a co-op campaign lobby then back out to the main menu. The only way to fix this was use a zombies mod menu to prestige my profile.
The WaW mod stop was annoying when you had them fast fingers. I used to shoot with two fingers and get blocked. Glued a popsicle stick to my controller one time too to train to shoot faster.😂
22:30 I remember in MW2 on the 360 I somehow had ALL of my progress deleted, removed all my skins, unlocked guns and scorestreaks, lost my LEGITAMATE PRESTIGE LEVEL, then decided to just stop playing all together because I was afraid of it happening the more I played
Something I always found funny is that all of these cheaters are willing to take the time to mod/hack their way to success instead of taking the time to actually practice like the game intended 😂
Bugs and glitches are not things implemented into the game, they are things that don’t work as intended. Most of them are considered cheating as it’s abusing something that should be immediately reported and not abused
I just remember in black ops 1 for a while, they had been a bit heavy handed with one of the patches and my FAL would 'jam'. I didn't have a modded controller, but my time playing l4d2 using primarily dual pistols had really built up my trigger finger. I'd end up spamming, then the gun would suddenly stop shooting and I'd not be able to reload or switch weapon. I stopped playing after a while because of it.
On mw2 the speed glitch would work for private match on ps3 and I remember being with people and using the map to launch ourselves out of the map, on Karachi the sprial stair case would ramp you on top of the roof in which you would jump out from the telephone pole, you could even find the old blacklot building out there. Same thing on bailout and skid row with speed ramping onto the fire escape. Spent so much time playing that with dudes I’ve never talked to since
Shadow bans happen when you get reported alot. Its like a verification stage where you can still play without disrupting legit players if you’re cheating. They’ll either idk manually look at anticheat logs and ur processes etc to determine ur cheating and ban you. Its really just to get at rage cheaters with undetected hacks or people trying to appear legit while still being quite obvious that they’re looking through walls etc.
I remember getting mod locked, all the time, but I never had turbo mods. I used to play paintball and could easily set off the mod detector. I then had to switch to smg.
Cheating back in the day was almost respectable just because of the hoops people had to just through. I mean, it wasn't their fault a 2-hit kill semi-auto AR had 1200RPM. That and way back then, stuff like hacking was used for fun. I remember in MW3 someone would infect custom classes that was literally useless in online play, but with headshots only custom matches, these infected classes allowed you and friends to get outside the map. It was literally only used for exploration and nothing else. Or in MW2 someone would force everyone to use a sniper class and turn on anti-gravity. Like back in the day, it was just all in good fun.
In these games, I've seen Twitch streamers and non-streamers get killed repeatedly by the same cheating troll. Even when the troll's team was losing, that troll was only killing his victim over and over instead of trying to win the game. When the victim started another match, somehow that troll was on the other team, killing the victim again. The trolls often used multiple accounts to get around blocking. The dedication these trolls have to ruining just one gamer's experience is disturbing
I remember when I was 13 I wanted a modded controller so badly for Halo Reach (wanted to spawn in a pelican) and tried asking a GameStop employee where to get one and he just shooed me away
man back in the waw and mw2 days wed make modded controllers by wiring into the rumble pack, having a good trigger finger ended up being most reliable but the barret spam was super fun
Can’t even lie. Shoot first die first has been my biggest issue with MW3. It’s thrown me so far from even wanting to play it as much as I used to play COD. It’s such a horrible experience.

I remember getting my hands on a rapid mod controller as a kid, I don't remember how exactly but a friend of mine got it. I even went as far to disassemble it and put the modded controller inside my cool custom 360 controller shell. I still have it to this day. Wonder if the rapid fire still works. Nowadays at least on pc, you can just enable turbo on your gamer mouse software and get rapid fire for free, although anti cheat is better at picking that up
16:20 THATS when I quit playing XBOX360 COD MW2. 10 KILLS from my Callsign and 4 head shots from my emblem for my Barette .50 cal...no quick scoping BS, just naturally killing enemies down scope. I got killed and ALL my loadouts went multicolored, natural 7th prestige....and after that game, ALL my F***ING stats were whipped and got put me back to zero. I hastily pulled my disc, snapped it in half, and havnt played ANY competitive COD sunce
I used to do the whole JTag modded lobbies in mw2 back in the day. But no aimbot, wall hacks etc. just some of the fun stuff. They were fun to play in private matches, especially the 30 minute nuke timer ones. Shame that people decided to use them to actually cheat in public matches though.

16:30 - or the inverse... a derank lobby where killing a modder gives you so much negative XP that the game applies to your account, and the game LOCKS previously unlocked create a class items because you were no longer at the XP threshold preventing you from ever playing with your loadout again...
This happened to me in CoD4 Remastered. I had just prestiged too so I literally had no weapons. I eventually got out of debt and hit max prestige and rank.
Tried the block ops 6 open beta, and played against a wall hacker in my 2nd match.. there was no third match. Just play with/against your friends folks. The glory days of general online matches are over.
Those lobbies back in the day where people would sell the mods to you. Most of the time it was $10 to $20 for the hacks. Key vault were $5 for a new one if you got banned.
honestly the only time i got shadow banned was for going out of the map once on mw3 the only thing that can get you shadow banned is three people to report you, it's common knowledge now

It's insane that games like Bo2 you don't need any modded console or anything, just go to theatre mode and watch infected videos and get mod menus. The fact they haven't fixed that, probably never will and still charge full retail price for bo2 digitally is wild.
i remember when friends would run that, sure the lobbies where cool but meh, i only used them in custom games to mess around with it, imo cheating is fine IF it's in a private lobby
they did fix it, it has been patched a few years ago and you can see that most of the popular videos got deleted

The old way was the CodTV section, that gives errors now, but you can go to leaderboards and look at any of the top players file shares, or in the community tab lol. Only way for Activision to fix this shit is to factory reset the entire game, reset everyones accounts, but they won't do that so there is no fixing it.

On Cod 4 I remember I got deranked below level 1 and the 'find match' was greyed out saying 'you must be level 1 to play'. The only way I was able to play was by joining peoples session until someone was able to rank me up.
I remember coming across a modder in literally my first game of MW3 in 2011.
I was playing on the map *Interchange* and someone had modded the lobby so everyone was running at like 5x the speed the player would normally move at. Definitely not the worst experience with hackers, but it was certainly shocking at the time to see mods in a brand new game on launch day.

I played WaW WAY after it’s prime, but someone actually gave me mods somehow and even changed my loadout names, where it had different colored text. I could fly around, was invincible and it was cool for a bit. For obvious moral reasons, I didn’t abuse it and instead just observed the few games I played if my memory serves me right. The mods all disappeared as soon as I turned off the game.
I kept the modded names for my loadouts as a reminder of that one time. Beyond these two stories, I can’t think of any other times I dealt with modders/hackers other than when playing modern Call of Duty.
The good old injection hacks, I remember back in MW2 ground war sized FFA lobbies on rust, fully auto noobtubes and RPGs some of these hacks where great fun, some where annoying AF. @@ChaseSeaborne

Not sure about this dude but years ago you could infect users with an xbox r2r menu and that had no clip in clip in public match. If he was the firs it was replicated for awhile I tangy, flying turnip and some others are who I remember having some cool stuff.

I’ve been banned twice on ps5, using a stock ps5 controller. Speaking on how it impacts normal players, there was a year where the haptic feedback triggers on the stock ps5 controller would be picked up is irregular and get some people banned. Some were permanent despite Activision acknowledging the mistake
old xbox controllers could be rapid fire modded with 1 wire, everyone was doing it themselves in the cod4/waw era. Blackops did try to stop it, but then jittermod chips came out

I'm surprised that rapid fire was EVER an issue. I thought limiting the firing rate of semiauto guns has been a balancing and realism tool in FPS games for about as long as FPSs have even existed.

The pistols would shoot ridiculously fast like a Glock switch on a real pistol.
The Barrett 50 in mw2 also was hilarious as it shot so fast the gun would empty the whole magazine and move across the screen in less than a second.
When they tried implementing fixes and slowing fire rates with later games, jitter came out which iirc slammed the reload button while shooting, allowing for full auto again on burst and even pump shot guns. (Blackops 1)
Then in blackops 2 you could make burst fire weapons full auto, just by holding down fire and flicking your mouse wheel to constantly change weapons while still firing, making RK5s and the like full auto, no mod required.

So on the jtag xbox key spoofing, it was illegal because it could be considered theft. What those key "generators" would do is just find a xbox with a good key and mimic that xbox. Essentially "stealing" its key. It happened to my xbox and i dealt with microsoft for about a month and a half because my key was compromised. Never got comped for that lost time of gold
Literally the same thing happened to me. Right in the midst of Halo 3. Unfortunately I was so busy getting into the Army that I didn’t have time to do anything about it until I got back from my first deployment and just bought a new Xbox. Still very salty about that because it’s the only Halo Multiplayer I didn’t get to enjoy and it’s probably going to go down in history as the best one. 🤷🏼

It is not only stealing it is the very definition of "hacking" which is also illegal obviously. You can't just breach and circumvent somebodys firmware/software and security messures because you bought a device.

3:05, Here's the thing about that: they didn't tell the entire truth. They switched to a hybrid setup, not fully dedicated servers. They even publicly admitted that later on, making the sale of the game a false pretense condition. They got away with it too. Even now, in 2024, people can still lag switch in CoD. Some have even accomplished making software that does it, and all the cheater has to do is set a macro on their controls to activate it. Can't tell the fanboys that though, and that makes for an incredibly frustrating discussion. Let them tell it, CoD is flawless every generation, every ban is a false ban, no one cheats, and the people complaining are just buns at the game.
The fan boys are so dense that they say the games are amazing when there's literally a patented AI that manipulates the gameplay, skill means nothing anymore. Back in MW2 I stopped my progression at 9th prestige because I liked the emblem much better than the 10th prestige emblem. I got invited to a game by my friend and I didn’t know it but it was a prestige lobby. I immediately got put up to max level 10th prestige and I was so pissed. I had the stupid spinning 10th prestige emblem that, as far as I remember, didn’t even have a legitimate way to unlock it in game. I never forgave my friend for inviting me to that fucking lobby and ruining my account.

@@JustHam09 I don’t think that was an option at the time that it happened to me. Or at least it wasn’t an option in that lobby. I guess it’s possible that I just overlooked it, but I’m pretty sure I didn’t. This was pretty early on as far as jtag’s were concerned. They were pretty new and it was pretty rare to even know about those lobbies unless you were part of a jtag/cheating forum. I had heard about jtag and come across people using them for cheats in matchmaking, but even that was pretty uncommon at that time. I don’t think I even learned that down-ranking or resetting your level was a thing until after I had moved on to other games.

Idk why but randomly, og cod 4 gets really populated on 360. Mostly tdm and free for all. Since Microsoft is adding them to game pass I think the player pool is a bit bigger now. Been a minute since I got on, but last summer literally had 0 problems finding a match. It was wild.

Within a day or two I got a 24-hour Xbox Ban lol I remember I was mid game playing a match on Wasteland when the ban dropped.
Xbox would hand out those 24 hr bans like candy. Still remember when i was 14 in the mw2 days i put “i hate blue balls!” As my bio and i got a 24hr ban citing my bio as the reason lol.

Glitches are fine you can't get banned for those and you shouldn't but exploits are different you still can't get banned for them unless a dev sees you and you're on PC.but exploiting gives you an unfair advantage that's the gray area

The shadow ban lobbies were abused horribly for a little bit where just getting reported enough gets you sent to the shadow realm. So whole teams in lobbies would spam report a single player in a lobby for all options and after a while of this happening just following the player through lobbies by joining on them, the victim is stuck in the shadow ban lobbies until Activision confirms all reports as false.
VAC bans shown on other people's Steam accounts will not be visible after 7 years but they are still banned.
I remember when I used to play bo2 multiplayer on ps3 there would be people that hack in a zombie mode but it's still in multiplayer, 1 team is "zombies" and the other team is the survivors and we would all get wallbuys, mystery box, and a giant platform made out of the care package box model. It was all put together with scraps, but it was so fun.

I remember when I was about 8 I told one of my friends that I had bo1 on the wii. He didn't know it existed on the wii and he had a wii as well, so I said "Sweet! You have internet and I don't so I'll bring my disk over and we can play some bo1 zombies online". We spent about 2 hours trying to find a lobby without modders or hackers before finally giving up.
Seeing this video has brought back so much nostalgia! I used to make the menus for COD 4, WAW and MW2 for the Jailbroken PS3 back in the day, it was peak gaming for me. So much fun was had in private matches with friends playing custom maps, game modes etc to building care package forts!

Makes me secretly want to cross paths with Camomo_10 (youtuber who moderates some Rust servers and loves to troll and chastise cheaters... he's able to look up whether players have a VAC ban history of any kind). I don't think I've ever had a VAC ban, and the last time I ever ran cheats on a PC game was some 22 years ago when Steam was in its absolute infancy.

A few related things I’ve highlighted
Ricochet anti cheat is meant to detect hack/mod tools and automatically ban you, it also runs off player reports too. So if several people report you for being sus or just outright good at the game after a certain amount of reports it will ricochet you into a shadow ban you. It will kick you out of your current game and show everyone in the game the ricochet logo so they’re going to think you’re cheating. You’re then in a shadow ban lobby until it gets reviewed, normally takes a few weeks until you’re then permanently banned or go back into normal lobbies with everyone.
My friend group had a couple of modded controllers that we would use as handicaps or to spice things up in Halo 1 and 2. Halo 1 especially was amusing with this, as you could unload an entire energy pistol in a few rapid bursts, and kill most targets with them in doing so. Great fun!
speaking of modded controllers. They've made it to where it's just an attachment to your first party controller and intercepts controller input. It can do all sorts of crazy stuff like shake the screen slightly to make aim assist work better for example. Also it could make you crouch and stand over and over while aiming down sights making you harder to hit while only aiming down sights.
however they're sold as a set of paddles as an addon for your controller.
A misconception about cheating in video games is that cheating = hacking or hacking and exploiting are the same thing.
Hacking is changing the way a game behaves (usually to gain an advantage).
Exploiting is using bugs in a game to gain an advantage.
I remember you used to be able to pause in BO2 and quickly tab between the Facebook tab to lag the game if you were host.
The old quarantine zombie/zombieland mod on mw2 was soo sick if you remember that. Used to get in those lobbies a ton back in 2010. Wish there was more mods like that lol.
I still remember multiple people telling me to turn my rapid fire modded controller off back in the day in BO zombies. The irony was I was in fact playing on a modded controller with a high quality rapid fire mod but never used it. Was super excited when an older family member came around and modded it for me. Even swapped out the LED's and analog sticks.

This one hacker on cod froze my Xbox 360 and made it red ring.
In 2020, maybe 2021. A friend and I loaded into a mw2019 match and quickly noticed that the game was somehow set to headshots only. Turns out a guy in our lobby had somehow set it to be that way. It was actually really fun, I kinda wish they just made that a mode. We talked to him after the match and he said he was gonna do another one soon and that he’d invite us, but we checked his account a few hours later and he got banned.

I remember joining a modded Zombies lobby in World at War that one of my friends was in and I got literally every achievement in the game. It was one of the only games I had all achievements for for a while lol.
I remember a guy in like 2011-2012 giving me a Nuke in a care package infection for MW2, it made so I had a 100% of getting a nuke in a care package, it was fun to mess around with for awhile especially if the enemy team was winning if I remember correctly it only worked for me or the person who had it. And there was also a way to make it so nobody else could get the care package. So I trolled so hard with that throwing care packages outside the map seeing everyone go for it because it had the nuke symbol above it. 😂
The 10th Prestige in MW2 Lobbies typically weren’t automatic… You actually received enough XP to max the Prestige You were on with one kill, unlocking all the skins/camos (every challenge completed for every weapon) and got you to Level 70. You’d back out of the lobby, Prestige there as normal, get reinvited to the lobby and rinse/repeat 9 more times (or how ever many you preferred as I personally knew a lot of people who liked 9th prestige’s icon more than 10th prestige, myself included). If they upgraded them to just auto-10th prestige then hell yeah, sad I missed those. 😂
one of the worst cheats I’ve faced literally just locked the enemy in place. They were using it on the new mw3 and you were just stuck in the match until it finished or you turned the console off. No inputs worked and you wouldn’t be kicked.

I can still remember a glitch to get out of the map on Karachi in MW2, it was unless in trying to kill players in the match. But I remember there was a spot where you could fall forever with out dying. But the game didn't think you was failing, so if you had marathon and lightweight perks on, you could max them out in a game or 2. Giving you easy XP and the Pro perks super easy.

Xim was banned by Microsoft and Sony. Ricochet has done nothing to help cheaters. It actually made it worse because it advertised that cheating was a thing to people who didn't know cheating was that bad. I play on PS5. The amount of PC player I go against is crazy. BO6 Beta had cheaters. THE BETA!

Here’s the problem with going after the cheat developers. I’m speaking from counterstrike experience here but a lot of these cheat developers are located in European countries. Some of the largest cheat developers for csgo are from Germany and Russia
My brother and one of his mates were 10th prestige lobby hosts back on mw2 and 3. He was recently telling me about it after modding came up in a convo we had. If anyone who played back then as well remembers "Geeza Mods" or something along those lines, then that was him.
Late days of old MW3 got matched against a guy running god mode and invisibility in S&D, i switched to my troll LSW with rapid fire and managed to kill him, 5 minutes later i lost all of my progress and stats in multiplayer, it annoyed me but it didn't take too long to get everything back. Its just sad to cheat, if you have to cheat to have fun then don't play the game in the first place.
At least the modern gave you 11th prestige in WaW. My younger brother got deranked to which he could only play Basic Training which you couldn’t find a match to level up to play the in the standard matchmaking pool.
4:30 Man, I remember practicing my trigger finger technique so I could full-fire in MW2 and Gears of War 2. Barret .50 and Deagle for MW2 (sometimes the FAL), Hammerburst for GoW2. Got so many accusations of modding, but there were just specific techniques you could do to rapid-fire.
I actually hopped on MW3 multiplayer on a series x and the prestige cheats are still going on. Pretty annoying as it happened twice through the matchmaking menu.
there was a genuinely obnoxious glitch/cheat in black ops 3 where if you connect splitscreen you can make you character completely invisible and just become an unkillable menace in the server. i had to stop playing blops3 because it was became a thing in most matches
I had a legit bug happen to me (twice!) in 360 WaW that would reset my profile back to level 1 with a pistol im every slot. Pistol for perks, pistol for grenades, pistol for everything. After that the the profile was permanently bugged where you couldn't use default items in create-a-class. The bug would happen if i went to search for a co-op campaign lobby then back out to the main menu.
The only way to fix this was use a zombies mod menu to prestige my profile.
The WaW mod stop was annoying when you had them fast fingers. I used to shoot with two fingers and get blocked. Glued a popsicle stick to my controller one time too to train to shoot faster.😂

Something I always found funny is that all of these cheaters are willing to take the time to mod/hack their way to success instead of taking the time to actually practice like the game intended 😂

Bugs and glitches are not things implemented into the game, they are things that don’t work as intended. Most of them are considered cheating as it’s abusing something that should be immediately reported and not abused
You have to be hosting the lobby for stuff like this. Which is a nightmare if you arent running your own server.
I just remember in black ops 1 for a while, they had been a bit heavy handed with one of the patches and my FAL would 'jam'. I didn't have a modded controller, but my time playing l4d2 using primarily dual pistols had really built up my trigger finger. I'd end up spamming, then the gun would suddenly stop shooting and I'd not be able to reload or switch weapon. I stopped playing after a while because of it.
Glitch hunting in cod4 is still something that I fondly look back on at age 32

On mw2 the speed glitch would work for private match on ps3 and I remember being with people and using the map to launch ourselves out of the map, on Karachi the sprial stair case would ramp you on top of the roof in which you would jump out from the telephone pole, you could even find the old blacklot building out there. Same thing on bailout and skid row with speed ramping onto the fire escape. Spent so much time playing that with dudes I’ve never talked to since
Shadow bans happen when you get reported alot.
Its like a verification stage where you can still play without disrupting legit players if you’re cheating.
They’ll either idk manually look at anticheat logs and ur processes etc to determine ur cheating and ban you.
Its really just to get at rage cheaters with undetected hacks or people trying to appear legit while still being quite obvious that they’re looking through walls etc.

I remember getting mod locked, all the time, but I never had turbo mods. I used to play paintball and could easily set off the mod detector. I then had to switch to smg.
Cheating back in the day was almost respectable just because of the hoops people had to just through. I mean, it wasn't their fault a 2-hit kill semi-auto AR had 1200RPM.
That and way back then, stuff like hacking was used for fun. I remember in MW3 someone would infect custom classes that was literally useless in online play, but with headshots only custom matches, these infected classes allowed you and friends to get outside the map. It was literally only used for exploration and nothing else.
Or in MW2 someone would force everyone to use a sniper class and turn on anti-gravity. Like back in the day, it was just all in good fun.
In these games, I've seen Twitch streamers and non-streamers get killed repeatedly by the same cheating troll. Even when the troll's team was losing, that troll was only killing his victim over and over instead of trying to win the game. When the victim started another match, somehow that troll was on the other team, killing the victim again. The trolls often used multiple accounts to get around blocking. The dedication these trolls have to ruining just one gamer's experience is disturbing
Lag switches couldn't be stopped be it was external, I hated when I ran into a player using one, but I do miss the old days.

Can’t even lie. Shoot first die first has been my biggest issue with MW3. It’s thrown me so far from even wanting to play it as much as I used to play COD. It’s such a horrible experience.
The G3 modded controllers in COD 4 still haunt me to this day.

I remember getting my hands on a rapid mod controller as a kid, I don't remember how exactly but a friend of mine got it. I even went as far to disassemble it and put the modded controller inside my cool custom 360 controller shell. I still have it to this day. Wonder if the rapid fire still works.
Nowadays at least on pc, you can just enable turbo on your gamer mouse software and get rapid fire for free, although anti cheat is better at picking that up

I hit the trigger like 9 times a second for enough to empty most semi-auto clips so I got accused for cheating a lot back in the day lol.

16:20 THATS when I quit playing XBOX360 COD MW2. 10 KILLS from my Callsign and 4 head shots from my emblem for my Barette .50 cal...no quick scoping BS, just naturally killing enemies down scope. I got killed and ALL my loadouts went multicolored, natural 7th prestige....and after that game, ALL my F***ING stats were whipped and got put me back to zero. I hastily pulled my disc, snapped it in half, and havnt played ANY competitive COD sunce

I used to do the whole JTag modded lobbies in mw2 back in the day. But no aimbot, wall hacks etc. just some of the fun stuff. They were fun to play in private matches, especially the 30 minute nuke timer ones. Shame that people decided to use them to actually cheat in public matches though.

16:30 - or the inverse... a derank lobby where killing a modder gives you so much negative XP that the game applies to your account, and the game LOCKS previously unlocked create a class items because you were no longer at the XP threshold preventing you from ever playing with your loadout again...
This happened to me in CoD4 Remastered. I had just prestiged too so I literally had no weapons. I eventually got out of debt and hit max prestige and rank.
Tried the block ops 6 open beta, and played against a wall hacker in my 2nd match.. there was no third match. Just play with/against your friends folks. The glory days of general online matches are over.
Those lobbies back in the day where people would sell the mods to you. Most of the time it was $10 to $20 for the hacks. Key vault were $5 for a new one if you got banned.
Kvs back in the day were alot more than 5 dollars lol at least unshared kvs
honestly the only time i got shadow banned was for going out of the map once on mw3 the only thing that can get you shadow banned is three people to report you, it's common knowledge now
