I'm severely allergic to dust mites, like even touching something a tiny bit dusty will cause itchiness on my skin, hives, and sometimes I get allergic asthma, and my throat and tongue can get itchy and swell a bit too. I needed an epipen at one point and was on prednisone consistently for weeks. Thankfully I haven't had any sort of sign of allergic reaction or sensitivity to snail mucin thus far. I've only tried it in the COSRX essence so I can only speak from my experience with that product, but it's been soothing and hydrating for my sensitive, mostly dry, and acne prone skin.
It would be interesting to know if different places harvest it differently and that effecting allergies, or if it's a certain snail and not all in general causing reactions for people with those known allergies stated.
I didn't realize how it was being harvested until after buying my first bottle, and I feel bad about it. Just because we aren't physically hurting them doesn't mean they aren't living a life of stress or discomfort vs in their own natural habitat. I'm thankful there are vegan alternatives and plan to switch after I finish my bottle. It just seems worse to me to toss what's left.
Thank you for your video 😊

Years ago I used a snail mucus cleansing bar and loved how my skin felt afterwards. I've recently purchased this product u mentioned and I love it. I bought this and it has been a struggle for me to use. Knowing it's snail snot messes with my head, but I'm also not a fan of the texture. I now mix it in my moisturizer to help the texture issue.
I have an allergy to dust mites, I used to have to get allergy shots, but this doesn't bother me. I also have an allergy to scallops and still no issues with this product. But in neither case is it an anaphylactic reaction, so I'm sure that's a big factor.
I'm going to try either glycerin or that yam mucin next. I like the idea of not causing undue stress on a defenseless creature

If the snail feels threatened, a toxin is secreted alongside the mucin, making it unusable. The first time using it, it took me 15 minutes and almost vomiting, before I could get it on my face. Now it's a twice daily product, the hydration is amazing. I have very dry skin so I put a thicker cream over top.

OHMIGOSH SUPER SATURATED by Experiment Beauty is MY FAV PRODUCT!!! I’ve been BLOWN AWAY by it!!!!! The difference in my skin is INSANE!!! I have skin that’s going through hormonal changes right now and will be greasy one week and then crazy dry the next but it’s so even and plump with this stuff, and I’m even seeing a HUGE difference in my rosacea since using this.

  • @tayratliff777

You should definitely try Super Saturated by Experiment Beauty. Seriously it is AMAZING!!!! James Welsh had recommended it as his favorite hydrating serum of 2022 so I decided to give it a try because I just felt like hyaluronic acid wasn’t doing it anymore for me. My skin has been all over the place this last year (I’m 38 so I’m assuming perimenopause??) I also have rosacea but since I’ve been using Super Saturated my skin is so plump, smooth, calm and even. It’s been a huge blessing!

I had used about half a bottle of the CosRX snail mucin essence in the past and wasn't a huge fan of it. I much prefer my mucin in moisturizer/cream form. If someone likes snail mucin but hates the goopiness of it (let's be fair, the CosRX cream is the slimiest product on the market), opt for Mizon products. Their mucin products are still potent and is a tiny step below CosRX in terms of brightening and moisturizing, but there's no slimey consistency and you still get mega results.
Without a doubt, snail mucin makes my skin so much brighter and definitely evens my skin tone and makes the random blemish disappear faster. But seriously, don't ever think of putting snail mucin on a fresh wound. I had known of its healing properites and thought it'd help a small cut/burn heal faster, but oh no no no no. The burn is unreal! It's fine on active blemishes, but open skin wounds, NEVER put snail mucin on it. Wait until it heals and then glob the stuff on.

I couldn't care less about the potential benefits of it. It's cruel to the snails and exploitative and I'm not going to give any money to companies that sell it. Not only I'm not purchasing this product, but also all their other products. There are sooo many other ingredients that offer similar or better benefits that are vegan and companies that don't exploit animals and are cruelty free so this is super unnecessary.
