    I don't think Buick brand will die, but I do agree with you about what's left of the Chrysler brand. Also, why isn't there any mention of the Lincoln brand, it's already pretty much faded into oddball-obscurity.

      From what I have seen large car companies like to have lots of brands. Slap different badges on similar cars to make it look as if you have a big range. Compare the Dodge Hornet with the Alfa Romeo Tonale as an example. Here in Europe VAG decided that having VW, Skoda, and Seat all selling similar cars at slightly different price points wasn't enough so introduced Cupra as well. I have no idea why as there don't seem to be separate Seat and Cupra Dealers.
      Some more news from the U.K. Mitsubishi have gone. Subaru is on their way out. Lexus isn't doing that well. I saw my first Volvo EX30 today Not that surprising as I work near a Volvo dealer that always has loads of Polestars in their yard. The same dealer also has BYDs sat on their forecourt but I have yet to see one in use.

    The Jaguar supercharged V-6 engines do not generally have an enduring reputation of "grenading" themselves. It appears that circa 2014 there was a batch with bad con rod bearings that failed, which Jaguar largely replaced under warranty. The user experience overall since then (including two I have owned) has been positive. It's less than helpful to make denigrating generalizations. With that said, I too see a shaky future for Jaguar, mostly for the reason cited in the video that they have staked their product line on electric vehicles only, phasing out (rather than updating) well loved and highly regarded ICE products like the F-Type. I also believe declining recent sales have been based on two factors: lack of significantly updating models that sold well from 2016-2020, and pathetic/nonexistent promotion for at least 8 years. When was the last time anyone in the US saw a Jaguar advert on TV?

    The other killer for Vin Fast is the battery subscription. To pay a monthly subscription to access my whole battery makes as much sense as paying a subscription to use the heated seats that are pre installed on my BMW car. And lets face it, If Buick brought back the grand national it would end up being like the blazer. A front wheel drive SUV style vehicle lol

    Buick should bring 1 of their GT car concepts forward. Either the Avista (my personal choice), their Wildcat or their Riviera and power it with a reworked hybrid like the Corvette E-Ray has. A true 2 door grand tour, which would be a silky smooth luxury vehicle. I'd also like to see Buick bring their concept Avenir sedan to market. All of them have outstanding designs and could save the brand in the U.S. McLaren could build a small crossover that would compete with the Porsche Macan at a decent price point (no more than a fully optioned Macan Turbo) to try and save them.

    • @bobpierce115
      @bobpierce115 3 месяца назад

      Nice sentiment; I get it. But Buick bringing out some coupe that'll be outrageously priced and garner very few sales, will only hasten their joining Pontiac and Oldsmobile even sooner.

    • @joelkrause388
      @joelkrause388 3 месяца назад

      The price point on the Buick would have to be mid-range, like they are now, nicer than Chevy, but lower than Cadillac. If Buick could keep it between $60 - $65k like a base Corvette with one of those aforementioned designs, I think they'd sell a decent number. I'd give it some serious consideration.

    • @bobpierce115
      @bobpierce115 3 месяца назад

      Joel, the American coupe market is virtually dead, and has been for years. Buick is lucky to just be hanging in there as a GM division period, with their current product lines. Any coupes you see here on YT are fun to look at, but make no mistake, it's pure fantasy b.s. I saw one recently of a 2025 Malibu coupe with the 1970 front & rear end, with a reworked 6th gen Camaro body. Again, NOT going to happen other than in these clickbait videos I'm guilty of clicking on too. @@joelkrause388

    Tyler, April and Nelix---My very 1st car after turning 16 in 1967 was a 1964 white squareish looking horrible Renualt. The gas intake was located right next to the rear engine. So--every time I'd let my local gas station guy fill my gas tank instead of me doing it myself he would spill gas when pulling out the nozzle and it would hit the hot engine and the engine would then catch fire after driving only several miles. After this happened the 2nd time (I had only owned the car several weeks at this point) I was driving around town with my buddies and I saw fire coming out of the back of this Renault through my rear view mirror. I pulled this horrible car made in France over and luckily we all made it out of the car safely. After the local fire dept arrived the car was totally engulfed in flames and was a total loss. Needless to say, I never ever bought another Renault. It was however the hottest car that I ever owned!! PS--This Renault was without a doubt the absolute worst car I have ever owned. It was then obvious to me why this Renault only cost 250.00--YIKES!!

    If we can analyze the challenges faced by the auto industry, some are obvious: carbon footprint issues, a shaken worldwide economy, developing alternative power systems, etc.
    But I submit this notion for your consideration: if everybody sells products that are generic, brand loyalty cannot develop.
    Further, particularly in the aspirational segments of the marketplace, a company that drifts away from their own history and heritage risks building lookalike stuff, devoid of any individuality.... So, who would get a Maserati instead of a Kia?
    Nobody. Lotus? Volvo? Rover? Ditto.....
    I'll go out on a limb: if these trends continue, within 20 years we will lose 90% of the current peloton of car companies.

    Stelantis has been playing stupid with the Chrysler brand. Other then when Imperial was on again off again Chrysler was their luxury or higher class cars. They need to push that again because they really don't have anything in that market. Plus it's slim pickings when your only option is Dodge (not counting Jeep type things).
    I can see Buick go. Especially now when everything is primarily truck, suv and cross over there's no place for it anymore.
    GM still has a lot of overlap and strange marketing when you can buy fully loaded trucks that are nicer then some Cadillacs.

    We drove a Buick Regal for about ten years (two different vehicles). Then, GM turned them into hatchbacks and the driver's seat was horrible and you couldn't see out the back. So when our next Buick lease was up, we went to a Honda Accord, and now Toyota Camry. We haven't driven a GM vehicle since 2019. As far as the Chinese market, don't forget BYD and they will slither their way into the American market and then I see Tesla going under.

    Anyone can overcome marketing, including Buick, the Grand National mentioned before is the perfect example for this.

    There is a video flying around all over and they claim April is wrong about a car…but she’s actually right, it’s the 1980 Trans Am video where you talk about the boost lights on the hood, these goofy guys think a beautiful woman doesn’t know about cars but don’t worry I correct them. You should have Hoovie buy another Turbo Trans Am and make a video going full boost(an early video he had one)Proving that car does have a turbo boost light system on the hood.

    Random ADD thought: I think it would be funny if April and Tyler wear fake goatees for an episode, and never talk about it, next episode, no goatees...and never talk about it, just to mess with people.

    I was looking for a new car in 2020. I asked a Mazda dealership if there was any indication of when they would be introducing either a hybrid or ev. The salesman said sometime around 2028! Unless the Japanese car industry knows something no one else does,the question has to be, how has the Japanese Auto industry misread the market so badly? I see the Chinese auto industry about where the Japanese car industry was in the early to mid 60s, when you only bought a Japanese car if you couldn’t afford a quality locally produced car. The speed Japan took over dominance of the market by the mid 70s is a lesson, I believe,is about to be repeated.

    Important to note Lotus is owned by Geely, same as Volvo - and indeed the new all electric Lotus is entirely designed and built in China in Geely's megafactory just like Polestar - effectively a re-badged sportier version of their existing Chinese EV platforms. Their new sports car is still built in the UK. Anyay I don't think they are going anywhere either as Geely have invested pretty hard in them - but I expect they will stop building cars in the UK at some point in the next decade.

    Really breaking April's heart here re: Buick & McLaren. As far as Tesla's concerned, Elon & Co. might need to watch their collective back with BYD and the like rising up in the market. Otherwise, yep, agree with the rest of the list. (Nearly forgot: Polestar should get an Honorable Mention, since Geely seems to be pulling some of their life-support away finincially.)

    Volvo is in a good position with the hybrids and EVs. And since they have Chinese owners, they’ll be able to evolve a bit faster to changing consumer demands. The XC90 will continue to be the company’s face, as long as it still attracts customers.
