Let them sink. Let an AMERICAN company buy what's left and make Harley great again.
It would be ironic if Indian bought HD. The founders would be spinning in their graves!
There never going to sink. The companies that are playing the identity politics are doing so bc they will also be taken care of when shit hits the fan. That's the point of all these bs scores with businesses. They get incentives and assistance. It's all quite ridiculous
I feel for the factory workers and do hope they turn this around. It's going to get worse before it gets better.
@@KrakensGarageandAdventures it’s always the workers who suffer. F these greedy executives.
@@javierespinosa1587 Truth!
They lost 2 sales to my brother and I this year, the dealer attitude, rape, pillaging and plundering on top of HD’s own plus plus put me on an BMW R18 and lead my brother to stand pat with his current collection. I will never again darken the doors of a HD dealership, and it brings me no joy to say that. Thanks for your informative vids, truly appreciated. Cheers.
Thank you. I've been a HOG member for 27 years. This is my last HD. The money grab is painfully obvious to me.
Thanks for sharing the latest info on the plant. Ride safe and enjoy. ✌️👊👍
I fear we are headed for a really depressed mc market. Time will tell.
Another good informative video. Some of us are unaware of the troubles brewing. My heart goes out to the faithful workers and their families. Thanks sharing.
I feel for the factory workers and do hope they turn this around. It's going to get worse before it gets better.
Interesting stuff, and difficult times for the workers. Thanks for the update.
I feel for the factory workers and do hope they turn this around. It's going to get worse before it gets better.
all i know is there are boatloads of bikes sitting on the showroom of Thunder Mountain HD in Loveland CO....just tons of bikes. I think they are hitting a price point where some folks are just saying "too much"....
I agree. Price point, current interest rates, inflation, layoffs, etc. It's going to be a rough year for the industry.
Awesome bike content Eric, to the point and clear. Thanks for sharing, and the best part of your channel is consistant bike information without any political views. Enjoy watching and learning, keep it up. Friend of Colin's and Danny M$B
Thank you, Andy. I'll be in Oz this November, and I hope to make it to Geelong, as I would like to shake Col's hand. We are old school, so I resonate where he comes from. Thanks for the reply, mate.
I'm hearing very little about Harley's woes in my pipeline, but their production will ultimately impact our production. Looking forward to HD Q2 results... well, actually, I'm not looking forward to their results, just looking forward to your take on 'em. Very nicely done, Eric 👏 ✌️😊👍
Thank you, Wayne. I'm just reporting the news that almost no one is talking about. 🙃 lol
Thanks for the information 😊
I hope it helps with a better understanding of the MoCo's issues.
Great video. The market seems to have really slowed down for the dealers on the more mainstream products up here, however, on the more niche stuff, where dealers previously weren't able to get inventory over the pandemic, things seem to be going alright. Units in ---> units out. We'll see how it plays out.
It's going to get worse before it gets better, I'm afraid. I feel bad for the factory staff on upper management's decisions.
120th anniversary of the brand. Meanwhile, the Great American Convoy for Wounded Warriors project is making its way across USA, bringing positive social media attention to motorcycle culture and HD dealerships. Massive publicity for HD.
Agreed! I wish HD funded some positive press for our vets. The gouging of dealers is grinding to a halt. As I said, I'm more than concerned with the current management of the MoCo. Thanks for commenting.
I was wondering if the glut of bikes piling up at all my local dealers was going to have a ripple effect back to the mother ship... guess we got our answer. I hope they figure it out soon, for the sake of the workers' livelihoods!
Great video Eric - no spin, no politics, just the cold, hard facts.
I feel for the factory workers and do hope they turn this around. It's going to get worse before it gets better.
@@KrakensGarageandAdventures Unfortunately, I think you're right.
Great info Eric! Hopefully they figure it out
Thank you, I sure hope. I don't know how these plant workers can continue working like this. Thanks for commenting.
Common sense is that they can only dump so many excess bikes, and finally dealers are saying no way are we going to take bikes we can’t sell them!!!!
The dealers pay floorplan interest at today's rates to keep those bikes on the showroom floor. It's going to slow bleed the dealer network.
In 5yrs, all Harley properties will look like the old auto production facilities look now, falling apart, windows broken, the whole deal.
Team Corporate Suicide has become the modern business model.
I fear you are correct. I do want them to succeed, but letting the dealers run amuck has been their standard.
Hmmm, I posted a comment last night but it seems to have been lost in the ether. So I'll post an abbreviated version.
The worker's union, IAM Local 175 (Harley York's union), has been posting the production schedule updates regularly on their website along with information on the temporary layoffs, filing for unemployment benefits, and supply chain stuff. It's impossible for us to really have any idea of why this stuff is happening. It's never simple.
I used to work as a welder in a shipyard building tow boats and barges back in the mid 70s. We would have temporary layoffs that were a reflection of the fluctuation in sales, especially with river barges which we turned out one day at full three shift capacity. There was no RUclips or social media back then but the grapevine was ripe with stories, conspiracies and reasons why things weren't cast in concrete. It's much worse now with so many more voices.
When I worked at the shipyard we had 12 thousand employees in 1974. By 1980 the shipyard was closed. The company was focused on short term profit and did not fully account for changes in the market due to changes in Federal support for locks and dams on rivers, the increase of rail and truck transport, and a slow but steady aging of the men and women who made up the crews who lived on the rivers. Harley is facing a fundamental demographic change as it's buyers get older and older and their products get more and more expensive. It may make sense right now but eventually it won't. And whatever doesn't change dies.
Another fine topic for a video Eric. Even though I don't ride a Harley those bikes have always interested me. Coming here gives me a bit of the vicarious thrill of the Harley landscape!
I hope they straiten it out and my heart goes out to the factory workers. It's going get worse before it gets better.
man thats really tough for those workers....feel for them
I couldn't agree more, Craig. I really feel for the factory workers.
The Covid based motorcycle boom has cooled. You can see it at almost all the motorcycle dealerships, no matter the brand.
We can dig deeper and look at Harley taking to long to jump into the most popular markets. But that is a whole other topic.
Another informative video Eric. Keep it up.
Thank you, Shane. I'm just reporting the news looking through my crystal 🔮 ball. It's looking mighty rough.
@KrakensGarageandAdventures I am just trying to get caught up. The storms we had down here knocked out power for a few days. Internet was knocked out for over a week. And phone service was very sporadic. I enjoyed it. Just got done with your 500 subs vid.
And yet, as far as I can tell, it's still damned hard to find new Hondas. Either they're artificially limiting their production or demand is just that high. Maybe a little of both. But their prices, while a LITTLE higher each year, are still drastically lower than Harley's. A $9,499 Rebel 1100 vs a $13,499 base spec Nightster? Seriously? $4000 for belt drive and a Harley badge? Both are sweet bikes with similar performance, but the price difference of a perfectly operational used 1200 Sportster is a hell of a difference to try to justify.
@@packgrog Agreed!
Words fail me. I empathise with the works and really feel for them. Cheers
I feel for the factory workers and do hope they turn this around. It's going to get worse before it gets better.
They have been through tuff times before I feel for the workers
I couldn't agree more, Clayton. I hope and pray for all the factory assembly plant workers to make it through these tough times.
That is why it seems like they are overpricing the motorcycles while they can knowingly that eventually they are going to have to loose money on correction time!!!!
Time will tell, but it's looking mighty rough for the rest of the year.
Good report on a terrible situation
.I could talk for hours on potential remedies for the HD business model , or should I say the continuing failure business model. For various reasons HD continues to shoot itself in the foot every 5 years or so. The recreational business model is a tough one and can be very hard to predict. I hope they figure it out and the good folks that work there continue to prosper.
I feel for the factory workers and do hope they turn this around. It's going to get worse before it gets better.
I work for Harley facility in York and yes it’s really BAD they never gave us a heads up about this situation so it put me in my family in a ruff spot so I’m in the process of finding another job.
That's bad to hear for the workers. I always liked my Harleys. But I haven't been too happy with Harley as a company, in many years now. Hopefully they will straighten their act up some time in the near future. To be honest, I been looking at other brands possibly for my next bike. Don't know when that will be, but always looking and keeping my possibilities open. Nice video Eric. 👍
Well, that pretty much leaves the Goldwing or Indian. It will be interesting to see what direction you go.
@@KrakensGarageandAdventures well I'm a long way off on getting a new touring bike. Maybe a second bike just for me. Lol
Wow. Sounds very unsettling. Thanks for sharing this news with us. We are sure there is more bad news to come !! 😮
I feel for the factory workers and do hope they turn this around. It's going to get worse before it gets better.
Great info. Half of H.D. decline is self inflicted {GREED} The rest is our Friends in WADC. Who have declared war on our economy. Inflation has hit house holds very hard. I am 62 my home and car paid for my H.D. paid for I retired from the USN. 1996 with a pension . I am single no child support. It is costing me aprox $325.00 more a month to live. I know take avg house hold of 4 has got to be costing them $500.00 more to live. Well now we know why they aren't/can't purchase new lux items like Harleys. P.S. I live in north west IN. Cheaper than other areas. Thanks for posting you vid.
Thank you for your service, Rod. I believe HD has priced their bikes right out of the core customer base. The blue collar worker... I hope they turn things around in a hurry. Eric
They’ve been doing this for years and workers come back every time they reach out .
You're correct. It makes me wonder why someone would sign up for that rollercoaster ride?
At least even the smaller Family owned Dealerships will be able to get new bikes now.
I sure hope so if there's a small mom and pop dealerships left. HD ran them all off as far as I know.
@@KrakensGarageandAdventures I just stopped at a couple on the Adam Sandoval Convoy .. and saw a few more in his Videos
Ironic that their main Assembly plant is an old AMF Building.
I didn't know that the York plant was originally run by AMF?
@@KrakensGarageandAdventures I think it's an old Multi Story building that they made bowling pin setters in .. Why would a Milwaukee Business have their main Assembly Plant in manufacturing in PA? HD spent $400 Million building a new Plant in Kansas City MO .. HD Spent $115 Million to close down the new Buell Factory in Rice Lake WI .. How many times can a Company shoot themselves in the foot.. Even if they do sell T-shirts for $50.00
3% of Registrations in the USA are Motorcycles.. The biggest years for HD were 300,000 Motorcycles.. In 1979 GM built 288,000 Camaro's .. Just one Model not even Trans Ams. Chevelles.. Monte Carlos .. Buicks Cadilacs .. Oldsmobile's .pickups GM and Chevrolet .
The biggest selling Motorcycle in the World is the Honda Cub with over 300 Million sold .
Something is definitely up with Harley Davidson. Suddenly, dealerships are throwing out incentives. For instance, the latest incentive is doubling the factory warranty on a purchase of a new bike. Instead of 2 year warranty now it’s a 4 year warranty. Also , I noted certain bike models can be financed at 3.99% interest rate. Sure sounds to me dealerships are overstocked with inventory and trying to clear out certain models. I believe sales are beginning to slow because of HD pricing themselves out of the market. I love HD but my next bike maybe another competitor simply because of price and features.
I think they're going to have to incentives the bikes right now. The dealers here in the east are loaded with bikes. They're not moving.
The dimwits that run the Co. have been trimming the Union Assembler's slice of the pie for years. They obsolete the parts we need including vital brake parts. Us dedicated riders of unsupported EVO's and twin-scams will not even notice when HD Inc folds like a book. F Jochen. great vid, new subscriber here. EVO'S FOREVER. Work Union.
Thank you, Fran. And, sorry for the late reply. I'm catching up on comments. I do expect Jochen to dive it into the ground and step down with his pockets full of gold from being CEO.
I was at the HD York plant a week ago on a Sunday and had my picture taken in front of the plant with my HD.... For me the beginning of the end... Will the market will be flooded with HD's becasue people can't afford them due to inflation?? Great reporting Eric!!
That's my thought. They're just so damned expensive! Not that upkeep on my 2003 Sporty is cheap exactly, but it's a lot easier to stomach than the prices they're asking for new bikes now. Sweet machines, but just too much!

your not kidding brother!!! hope your getting out exploring tomorrow Kraken.
Hey Eric, good commentary. I know what it is like working for a large manufacturer. There are a number of reasons why employers lay off. Bottom line and it's sad to say a quick and easy way to cut costs is to cut labour. All the best to these workers.
I agree... The factory workers are always kicked to the curb first. Thanks for stopping by.
I work at CLI which used to be syncreon we got half the building both us an syncreon are getting the same texts
Derek, I'm sorry to hear this. I can only hope and pray that it doesn't effect you and your families well being. All the best, Eric
@@KrakensGarageandAdventures oh we all the way back now 60-70 hrs week
@@Mudvayne_187 Good to hear!
This is horrible for those families. Unfortunately I think this is a result of the economy. Not sure if leadership is 100% to blame. Prices and interest rates are not good for buying necessities much less a luxury such as a premium motorcycle. Hopefully the economy will level out, interest rates will start to drop. Not to get political but, 2024 will determine the outcome of this. Great info Eric!
But it is political. When one side took over and implemented their stupid policies (which they even campaigned on)the economy was instantly put on an inevitable downward trajectory. People will look back and blame COVID, but again, that was a means to affect politics, and unfortunately it succeeded.
@@charlesblanton1008 that’s what I said…it’s political…”Not to get political” meaning I didn’t want to discuss politics but, acknowledging it is political😂 100% agree with you.
I feel for the factory workers and do hope they turn this around. It's going to get worse before it gets better.
Dealerships are charging these fees so they can pay for these new multi million dollar showrooms Harley made them construct. My small family owned and operated HD dealer got shut down after mega showrooms owned by investment groups sprung up around it. All Harley corporate cares about is getting money out of middle class pockets and into stockholder's hands no matter how primitive and low quality bike they build.
I couldn't agree more. It's to the point that the middle-class working person can't afford to buy an HD. They're squeezing them right out of the market, and the dealers are compounding the issue with massive fertilizer fees.
The bikes are piling up at the dealerships because of shifty, criminal like practices by dealerships and bikes that are 10k over priced. Their core has been thrown to the wolves.
I concur 100%! Why the MoCo allows dealers to rape and pillage on "their" showrooms astounds me. The dealer network (not all of them) are borderline doing criminal activities. Thanks for commenting.
I question the supply chain gripe at this point. The prices for the bikes are just too damn high. Cut some executive salary and lower the prices to be more competitive, and maybe they'll start moving.
I couldn't agree more. The pricing structure has eliminated the middle class working man/woman at this point. I mean their entry level Sportster is 15k before all the fertilizer fees.
@@KrakensGarageandAdventures which is a damn shame, because they're sweet bikes. But just can't compete on cost/feature set with the Honda Rebel 1100 or even the Indian Scout. Just nuts.
👍👍💯 great video. Thanks for sharing catch you later brother.
I feel for the factory workers and do hope they turn this around. It's going to get worse before it gets better.
I feel bad for the workers, let’s hope temporary is just that and it’s short term!
Agreed... It's always the workers that pay the price of upper management's decisions. Thanks for stopping by, Gloria.
The Hd boom has burst! What would they think would happen? Sad part is that the trickle down effect causes great harm throughout the company
I feel for the factory workers and do hope they turn this around. It's going to get worse before it gets better.
We're waitting for Harley Davidson to go almost banrupt again, like it's been happening since its creation, because it's like a Tradition thing.
- And then, suddenly, someone will buy it and the "H.D. Cycle" restarts once more.
I sure hope this doesn't happen. I do want to see them succeed, but with the current board of directors it seems to be trending in the wrong direction. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Eric
Livewire honestly wasn't a surprise, after they spun it off into its own company I was a little more than a little surprised that he was still acting as CEO. The layoffs definitely suck and hopefully Harley can right that ship sooner rather than later
I feel for the factory workers. I, too, hope they straiten it out soon.
Great content and I always enjoy your videos, keep up the great no politics I love that and remember HD is not the only one, the auto world is suppose to get worse than 2008.
The auto world is taking a beating as well. Many deserve it with the pillaging that's been going on. I feel for the factory workers and do hope they turn this around. It's going to get worse before it gets better.
Eric, As a dealership owner. I can tell you that the comments about dealers having too much inventory is not accurate. I am sure you connected with a handful of dealers. However, I do as well and while dealers may have certain bikes in stock, but they are waiting on a lot of motorcycles to be built and delivered. We are NOT swamped with inventory. We are significantly lower in inventory than last year. Hope that provides you some additional perspective. I do not believe the conspiracy theories that HD is creating this situation. The shortage of parts is real and has been for the last several years. -John
John, thank you for your reply. It may be a geographical issue with some dealers. I live in the Northern VA, DC metro area where there's a half a dozen dealers in close proximity. My friend that works at the York plant has been perma laid off, as they shut down the 3rd shift. The remaining shifts are still limping along. My remarks about "throttling back" are based on conjecture.
What I base my opinion on is from being the general manager for a GM dealership here in VA for decades. I am by no means a know it all, but have some small insight of vehicle operations. Based on what you're sharing with me, my speculation was incorrect.
I wish you well with your dealership and hope you prosper. As an HD enthusiast for 40 years, I need you to do well. When i travel, HD dealers are the life blood to me to keep me on the road safely.
All the best,
Eric
This is sort of expected bad news .I feel bad for the workers who are being affected by this situation but the management have sailed the company into a perfect storm with their decisions and what is happening in this world today. I hope the company survives but it is going to be rough.
I feel for the factory workers and do hope they turn this around. It's going to get worse before it gets better.
It seems to be quite common in businesses now. Hire new people to get "fresh ideas" and totally go off track of what they were selling, and what people were asking for. Here's a frying pan. It works and it sells. It doesn't need representation, or a rainbow handle, or approved by so and so. Sell it as a thing you cook food with. End of story.
I feel for the factory workers and do hope they turn this around. It's going to get worse before it gets better.
The dealers in my area are having a hard time moving bikes.
I don't know if it's a geographic thing or if all dealers are having issues. One things for sure, it's going to get worse before it gets better.
Harley has lost over a fourth of its sales since 2017 so there should be no surprises here. This isn't a supply issue, it is a market issue, where Harley simply has priced themselves out of the market and have no offerings that are below ten thousand to use to pull new riders into the brand. When I bought my new FXLRST in April the dealer was wall to wall touring models but the models he did need that would sell are not produced in sufficient numbers. The large increase in unsold inventory has been building for over a year and went up over fifty percent in 2022. Based on sales numbers there were nearly three months of bikes unsold at the end of Q1
As I said, I fear for the MoCo with the current leadership. I want to see them continue to succeed.
they are not selling enough. The prices keep going up and they keep making all these special edition bikes that no one can afford.
It is my belief that it's coming to a screaching halt here.
I feel badly for the mom and pops dealers as well, many of whom have already folded. I also feel badly for those who have counted on HD in order to make a living, such as your friend at the factory. Consumers aren't blameless though...supply and demand...how many have bought an unaffordable, coveted Harley and fed in to the frenzy which then drove up the prices even more? It feels like Harley Davidson has been greedy and unfortuneately money and greed will always drive the train...
I have to agree with you, Jody. The consumers are not Lilly white. I hope they turn it around. It's going to get worse before it gets better.
I feel sorry for the workers it seems like they are being lied to. They are not the only manufacturers slowing down. With the interest rates going up most people are not used to it since money has been free for so long.
I feel for the factory workers and do hope they turn this around. It's going to get worse before it gets better.
I would think with the cost of money for the financing division that the production line is feeling the ripple effect. Let’s face it with a double digit cost of living increase (aka inflation) luxury items are the first to suffer.
Thx for the update
You see this issue the exact same way I do. It's rolling down hill from poor decisions from the leaders. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
Repos are another big issue too.
I'm very disappointed. I ordered a new Road King special May 13th delivery is supposed to be July 28th with me not receiving the motorcycle until August 11th. I haven't owned a new Harley since 2005. I'm hoping this isn't a mistake
I think it's going to get worse before it gets better. The showrooms will be flooded as well as the used bike market. It will be a buyer's market here soon. I hope you get your RK soon.
This can’t be right. They emailed me on Friday 8-21-23 for an interview for factory work…
I just spoke with one of the folks laid off. They're back to 60 to 70 hrs a week. So it seems production has carried on. I'm happy to hear this for the assembly plant workers. Good luck on your job. Eric
@@KrakensGarageandAdventures yea but for how long I wonder…
Not sure what to expect when road glide limited are sold for
37k with 2 tone paint.
People can’t afford that for a toy.
Some can buy that’s the few.
I have to agree. Harley has priced themselves right out of their core customer base, the blue collar worker. I hope they turn things around.
Great topic. If they want a boutique motorcycle they have to slow production. Make them hard to get. Its a big investment for a hobbie, and we all know the spending never stops. I hope they can figure this out.
I hope they do too, Jerry. I want to see HD succeed.
If I ever buy a HD, it will be an evo.
The EVO is bulletproof. I have one in my garage!
I’ve got nothing to add. Just feel for the people who are laid off. This recession we are in is affecting us all.

Sad to hear!
Indeed. I feel for the workers.
I'd be looking for another job.
💯%, I couldn't agree more. Which will compound the issue.
A shame. A shame management is so poor. If the bikes did not cost so much, maybe people would buy them.
People don't have any money under sleepy joe. And if you look into it HD can't find enough people to repo the sold bikes guys can't afford to make payments on.
I feel for the factory workers and do hope they turn this around. It's going to get worse before it gets better.
Is that a two day Lay off? The Brake lines were defective.. The Supplier had to step up their Game .. More expensive models have braided stainless lines that have no issues..
An update on this topic. The 3rd shift has been perma laid off, the remaining shift are laid off a couple days a week. Meaning, they're only working 2 to 3 days a week. It is becoming quite serious for the factory assembly workers.
Honestly, who would buy a bike right now with the interest rates?
At today's prices and interest rate? Heck no!
Man that's terrible 😞
It really is. I feel for the factory workers. :(
Mom pop dealership thats hard to find harley done run most themout .
Agreed.
When Harley streamlined their bikes and cut the range and accessories. It was only a matter of time before they started cutting manufacturing lines. Hard to blame it on parts shortage. But much easier to drive people out of a job by cutting hours which in turn, forces people to look for another job to keep their heads above water. This all to make their bottom line look better for the shareholders who then will aprrove CEO bonuses.
Matt, as an update to this topic. The York plant had perma laid off the 3rd shift, and the remaining shifts are limping along. I hope the factory assembly workers fair well during these tough times.
Damn. That’s a shame. Hopefully things will get straightened out or someone will buy them out and right the ship.
I feel for the factory workers and do hope they turn this around. It's going to get worse before it gets better.
I can’t comment about the HD supply chain shortages however I am currently leading a global supplier assessment project across North and South America to ensure our client’s Tier 1 OEM suppliers will have capacity to fulfill their shipment obligations on time in 2023 and 2024. Our client is a global manufacturer of tractors and agricultural equipment and after assessing more than 62 OEM plants since March, I can tell you that the “supply chain excuse” is mostly over. (Just few exceptions) So ….. this HD’s layoff based on supply chain issues I call it BS !

Such a crappy situation that the hardworking people that are the backbone of the company have to suffer bc of the idiots at the top.

Been in pocon mountain hd a few times over the last few weeks it seems dead. Hd can find enough repo guys to repo bikes and they think people are buying bikes. Here's a hint buy a used low milage 90s bike with an Evo motor. Easy to work on and you can find a great bike for under 6k. There's plenty of garage ornaments out there.
Thr used bike market is going to flood soon. And you're right. There will be some great deals on evos out there.
@@KrakensGarageandAdventures you just gotta put in the time looking for them. I love the 90s styling. They still looked like motorcles. Plus the Evo motor will last forever without headache it you maintain it.
Sorry I’m behind on the watch…had another heart incident. Looks like surgery may be in my future. Q2 may be a bloodbath. HD will probably by back a lot of stock to keep the price from tanking. That’s their usual MO.
As we discussed on the phone, I'm distraught to hear you're having heath issues. Take care of yourself. You have an entire family that depends on you as the patriarch of the family. If i can help in any way, don't hesitate to ask.
Honestly after watching this video, I am starting to question the timing of my motorcycle purchase. Maybe I could’ve gotten a better deal if I would’ve waited a few months.
I wouldn't feel that way, it's all relative. If the new prices drop, proportionally your used bike trade in value drops. So your vaquero would have been worth less. Either way, you have the best HD made imo at this time. Enjoy that beautiful bike!
Harley is on the path of failure. Great video! It is going to get worse. Just in time for the new financial report
Yep, it's hard to watch from the sidelines this train wreck that's going to happen financially. This is the effect of poor decisions from senior staff. Now the factory workers pay the price for it.
Not looking or sounding good. Like you said the guy jumping ship is a pretty good sign of what's going on. .
I feel for the factory workers and do hope they turn this around. It's going to get worse before it gets better.
This is terrible for those workers.. So my question is if Harley are calling it what they are calling it.. why are we not hearing about the same issues with Indian? Dosent make sense.. there has to be so much more to this. The present CEO needs to go. Absolutely disgrace.. i wish nothing but the best for the workers and Mum and dads Harley shop owners.. maybe Adam Sandoval is making some ground for those owners on his present tour.. good video Eric..
Never hear anything about Indian it's a crap motorcycle. I'm sure they're hurting too
Thank you, David. I'm just reporting the news, be it good or bad. I feel for the factory workers and do hope they turn this around. It's going to get worse before it gets better.
Pretty sure this situation just comes along with being an auto (MC) worker. Just bought my first H-D and am coming to understand that the owners of these bikes are the whiniest motorcyclists I’ve ever experienced.
You are probably right, Glenn. HD rider's do have a much shorter fuse. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.
Harley-Davidson is in a big need for a new CEO, Bering back Willie G....Cin-Cin and Salute. 👍😇✌️❤️🤲🙏
We need some folks that actually ride on the board of directors. I feel for the factory workers and do hope they turn this around. It's going to get worse before it gets better.
Have you seen what they're charging for bikes no wonder production going down nobody can afford them now I have owned 73 Harleys in my lifetime now I can't afford a new one
I have to agree, Greg. I fear this will be my last HD after a 40 year run with them. It's criminal to charge north of 60k for some of their bikes.
I think all of us that follow HD seen this coming. All show rooms are bulging at the seam. Auto dealership lots are overflowing with new cars and trucks. They are also laying off. I work for the largest steel producer in North America . Steel orders are down 40%. Announcement recently came down from the top stating they are not going to drop prices. Auto makers and HD seem reluctant to cut prices also.
Agreed. My wife and I went to 5 Guys. 2 small cheeseburgers, 1 FF, 1 shake, 1 soda = $45 some companies are still over charging. I'll never go back to that burger joint again. I feel for the factory workers and do hope they turn this around. It's going to get worse before it gets better.
Grim. Like you, I feel for the workers. Kids’ tummies don’t go on rolling layoffs. Zeitz has dropped the reins. The Chinese variants won’t save the MoFoCo. Rolling out new $60,000 CVO’s won’t save the MoFoCo. Lower prices move inventory, duh. Honest, customer-focused dealerships move inventory. Good for you, Eric. Somebody has to hold HD Corporate’s feet to the fire.
They have literally priced themselves out of the market. Their entry-level Sportster starts at 15k. I hope they syraiten it out soon.
Maybe they can start by eliminating the surcharge.
I have their last EVO reliable motor they made.
They want to be everything except Harley
Reliability wins
Toyota should be their example
I have to agree. And yes, I'm a huge toyota fan.
@@KrakensGarageandAdventures
They had it right.
They should have stayed with maintaining reliability with subtle modern additives
Thanks for your reply.
Thank God I left before they fired 🔥 me 😮
That's sad to hear. I think bad times are headed for the MoCo.
@@KrakensGarageandAdventures Bad times are heading for everyone.
Looking for information about a (War Dogs) Pennsylvania motorcycle club member who (un-alived) a woman who was Amish and also pregnant. Shawn Cranston.
have no idea about this issue.
I want to take a moment to educate workers. Republicans and Democrats allow American companies to move their operations overseas without any punishment. Which members of congress receive corporate donations from this company. Corporations get big rewards for moving jobs out of Americans. First. lower wages, Second , currency exchange rates.
All true and the result of globalization. We have got to get this country turned around asap. Thanks for watching.
@@KrakensGarageandAdventures I live overseas right now. I watch the nightmare in America everyday. Shootings, robberies, police violence and more. Republicans and Democrats are puppets of corporations and special interests.
There is no conspiracy, the supply chain issue is real. This is not unique to Harley Davidson. It’s happening to most manufacturing especially with the big 3: Ford, GM & Chrysler. I work for Ford and the supply chain issue is real and the same thing is happening.
I have to agree with you. I feel for the factory workers that are on an employment roller coaster ride.
From the factory to the stealer ships, you deserve to go under, its your own fault
Many dealerships have been out of control pillaging. I hope they get hit the hardest.
There to much money. If Harley wanted to sell bike they would make them affordable.
I agree. Instead, they've run the prices up so far an average person can't afford one.
the deadwire is one cause of the problems.
but I've heard that many will never buy another HD because of HD going woke. even I bought a motorcycle recently and it was not a HD, nor is it in my mind to ever buy one.
I'm not a fan of the direction the MoCo is going with their current leadership. I fear this will he mynkast HD. Thanks for commenting
Harley’s being made overseas for good
So much of any US products are being outsourced due to globalization. The cancer of America.
Poor stealerships,boo hoo !
😂 Agreed!
Go woke Go broke
Many American companies need to learn this lesson the hard way.
AMF needs to step up and buy Harley Davidson back. 😃👍
🤣🤣🤣 You made me laugh out loud on that reply. I feel for the factory workers and do hope they turn this around. It's going to get worse before it gets better.
shouldn't have backed bud lite and pedophiles. want to buy my bike back? I don't think honda has gone woke, yet.
I fear this will be my last HD after a 40 year run on them. I have zero confidence in upper management.
Not a fan of Harley leadership by any means..
However, I’d say the amount of people who can afford a new motorcycle in todays climate is vastly deminished.. If you don’t see majority of people are focused on paying bills and putting food on their tables (basically the necessities of life) you are f’n blind.. Inflation is high on everything as well as interest rates thanks to the government printing money like mad to foot the bill for Ukraine and fund their proxy war.. Coming directly from a plandemic didn’t help..
Yeah the motor company may have to high of ambitions on profit margins. However there are many factors to the high price of motorcycles (I find it hilarious how many bitch about Harley prices then brag up Indian when Indian is just as high or higher on comparable models..lol)… The motor company is not responsible for the climate the US government has created for manufacturers to manufacture things in the US with regulations, emissions and taxes. Harley Davidson is also not responsible for labor costs of unions demanding their workers out of a job. People love to bash corporations for being greedy, yet typically give union labor a free pass. Millions of people make a good living at non-union jobs for quite a bit less.. Then the countless dealerships that demand way over MSRP and have outrageous dealership fees and will set on a bike until they get what they want. All these factors build into the price to us the end consumer.
Then of course government pushing all the woke BS of EV mandates and ESG scores. The corporations have no choice but to comply. Look at reality. The people will flat out ignore the government pushing the BS down our throats, but attack the corporations for complying. It’s just easier to blame the corporations and ignore the root problem. It’s also more comfortable. Can pretend you are winning something attacking the corporation and go about your comfortable life leaving future generations to deal with the BS.
Personally I don’t feel bad for most the dealerships or the union labor.. They have activity gouged us for years with their greed..
I couldn't agree more. I believe the pendulum is swing the other way now, as I see showrooms chock full of bikes. Something has to change if they want to keep their doors open.
HI FROM ""Bubbel Head""
Well thanks, Bubblehead!
Live Wire sales are a disaster. I think there is a future for electric motorcycles. HD won't be the one to deliver it.
I was at my local Dealership today and they had a new RGS on the floor and wanted $34K for it. That seems high to me. It was not a CVO or anniversary edition.
I believe e-bikes are coming. The technology isn't there yet. A 80 miles range on the LiveWire is a dealbreaker.
I feel for the factory workers and do hope they turn this around. It's going to get worse before it gets better.
@@KrakensGarageandAdventures HD has zero EV experience. They will not be the ones to bring an Ebike that consumers want to market. All cutting edge battery technology is coming from Asia.
HD cannot even put LED's on a $40K bike in 2023.
In my opinion let em go down the drain for shadow banning Indian for all these years with the insane support they’ve got mostly from VETERANS after the last two big wars, and fell out of that grace because well…greedy tactics and so on. Indian has better everything in my book besides the network. Hopefully people at fricking Polaris that care just about owning the name of Indian straighten up and make more dealerships so we get TWO amazing bikes MADE IN USA !! There’s no nostalgia anymore and people that don’t know history they will repeat it🫡🇺🇸. And I’m 💯% on the GREEDY stealerships let em starve ESPECIALLY the ones bought out from bigger groups like Ridenow here in Tucson. Basically almost every motorcycle dealership in town is owned by them so yeah…
I feel for the factory workers and do hope they turn this around. It's going to get worse before it gets better.
@@KrakensGarageandAdventures I know I don’t want anyone to lose their jobs… Just sayin so they might change their ways I hope very soon!!
