Hello, I am planning to buy T 758 V3i A/V receiver. I was before planning Marantz Cinema 50 but I came to know of that Cinema 50 won’t supply more then 30 watts per channel whereas this NAD A/V receiver will supply pure 70 watts to each 7 speakers connected. Also I noticed that this NAD T 758 V3i doesn’t have an HDMI 2.1 for both Inputs & Output, offers a single HDMI OUT, no “e-Arc” option & only a single Subwoofer option as compared to Cinema 50 which offers 4 Subwoofer inputs. I am going to do 7.1.2 that means, Front Left + Right, Center, Surround Left + Right, Subwoofer & Front Heights - Left + Right. My present setup is: SONY A80L OLED. JBL Studio 600 Series - 630 Bookshelf speakers. JBL Studio 600 Series - 625C Center Channel speaker. JBL Studio 660P Subwoofer. And for rear, it is Harman/Kardon HKTS 9 on-wall satellite speakers bought way back in February 2013. My seating distance from TV is of 13 feet. I am super confused what to buy between Marantz & NAD?
Is it worth upgrading to this from a mrx720? I love my Anthem but ARC has been a love hate relationship I can't get the volume right it feels like it's running 20 dB to low compared to my now sold denon 4500. I have to run it at -10, -5 dB to get the same output as -20 on the denon. Many are having the same issues on the new x40 models and they jump so many hoops to get it right and I'm just not tech savvy enough to tune it perfect. The denon room correction isn't the best but it was easy to make it all work. So I've been mixed on the Anthem since I bought it last September.
Best looking AVR on the market imo, and that screen is awesome! wish I could afford one... maybe when my Denon dies from heat exhaustion. Love the NAD sound, especially with music seems to be where they shine over the competition.
I've been having a hard time finding a clean face AVR. I'm not going to be controlling from the front panel and I don't want distractive lights while watching movies. 4K upscaling in my current AVR is nice. I'm not spending over $500 unless it's the Yamaha YSP. I might need to fabricate a sub enclosure to fit under my sofa. AVR's are like gaming systems right now, sold out or jacked up pricing, because of the lockdowns.
Finally, receivers with Dirac! - Sounds so much better than Audyssey. I describe Dirac as more real sounding, more natural and almost 3D... I have Dirac in my computer for now using their new standalone Processor which doesnt downsample like Audyssey. You get the full 192Hz if desired. I just route everything through the PC to my Marantz SR7012. - Soo much better than Audyssey. (Which is permanently switched off now).
Whoa, that's the path I'm thinking of taking soon after 7 years with a stereo miniDSP+miniDigi as a dsp and input switcher! 6ch Dirac plugin + jriver or similar media center? I like having the option to replace a module in my gear chains, loosely coupled in software terms. Do you, by any chance do digital in on your PC? Any sync issues on windows 10/mac? Tried multichannel from a game console? Having Sonos as the main family friendly platform for wife and kids..the delay between zones is a nogo..
Hi Sir.. i had question regard the T788. I had similar setup with yours, means i will preamp this AVR with Parasound A52+, and also SB3K. My Question i had dual SB3k, can i connect dual Sb3K with this AVR and use Dirac Bass Management? Im still searching and looking to upgrade my AVR from Marantz SR7010..
If you're asking about DLBC, this doesn't have it. You may want to look into also getting a MiniDSP 2x4HD and using MSO to tune multiple subs. From there, the single sub out (it's a single output even though there are 2 RCA's) from the T778 would go to the MiniDSP 2x4HD. It would be managed as a single sub by the NAD even though you could have up to 4 subs optimized by the MiniDSP and MSO software.
Joe, have you figured out any way to adjust the front right/left levels if you have a Dirac profile loaded? I can change Center and Surrounds with the remote, but even on the touch screen menu it will not allow me to adjust front left or front right. I like to listen to 2.2 channel music with the sound correction (instead of Analog Bypass), but I want the "center" moved a tad.
Great stuff. Obviously you like this unit because you bought it.... How would you compare it to the best Yamaha offers from avantage? I would really appreciate your opinion thank you
I want to know what the issue is with HDMI handshakes and why it is so hard for these AVR receivers to fix that issue. Seems NAD is not the only one that has this issue. It this a manufacturing issue or a software issue? My Marantz has the same issue and it drives me so crazy thinking about getting a Anthem.
Hey Joe - can I use external amps and completely disconnect the internal power amp ? Also, wondering I can assign the internal power amp to the channels I prefer? I want to run the centre stage with an amp.
I don't think you can turn off the internal amp like on the new Denon and Marantz in their Pre-amp mode. I think all internal amps still run so whatever you have connected will play that channel's signal. You can't reassign them though.
Thanks for the review Joe! Would you say this is a meaningful upgrade over NAD's entry level AVR? I'm getting a 5.1.2 Atmos system with B&W 683 floorstanders and centre with fyne audio in ceiling surrounds
@@shivanksarin6199 I like the T778 a lot, but since I also have external amplification, I have my eye on the Monolith HTP-1 also because I really enjoy Auro-3D.
In this receiver (at least up to February 2021) bass management does not work correctly and due to this issue has even been cancelled from the offering of one of the bigger German Home Theater installers.
@@joentell The regular rerouting of frequencies below the set crossover frequency to the Sub does not seem to work correctly and furthermore they measured that it often randomly loses the Dirac correction on certain channels. (Mostly center) So the firmware still seems very wonky.
BluOS is the receiver's operating system. The BluOS kit is essentially a regular 3 port USB hub with one wifi and one Bluetooth dongle, both of which you can buy cheaply on Amazon. On the third port you can daisy chain another USB hub if you like. I bought a 3 port USB hub with a Broadcom ethernet port to allow the receiver to use a wired connection to a more powerful wifi extender. Useful if you live in a large house.
Really wanted to keep the NAD. Such a sexy beast. But those HDMI issue cannot be understated. Going from zero issues with HDMI to having to hope that video is displayed when going to play a game or watch a movie was a deal breaker for me.
Dirac live is very interesting. I've been wanting to give it a shot for some time now, and the Nad line of receivers is always a thought when I think about moving on from my denon 6400. However for me it might make sense to only buy the actual Dirac live dsp from mini dsp... These Nad receiver do look very nice though.. I'm glad you like it man.
I have a MiniDSP DDRC88A in for review. The plan is to use that with the Denon 4700h with Audyssey off to compare the two room corrections back to back.
Morning Joe. I ordered the iotavx sa3 finally. I just found they also have a Cd player and a home theater receiver or integrated. The cd player is coming out around the end of May
Did u notice differences using internal amp vs preout to Parasound? Am looking for new processor and this avr catching my eyes for its touch screen and dirac live..
I think it sounded more dynamic, but honestly, it could all be in my head. Without measurements or a double-blind test, I can't say 100% if I could or not. I like having it just to know I have enough power for different speakers I'm reviewing.
I would love to be able to afford one of these to replace my Denon 2807 avr, from circa 2007. Especially since purchasing a Blu Sound Node, current version, for music streaming. Cause I would love to combine avr and streamer in one, because that will eliminate one set of cords and connectors.
Thanks sir... i have a couple of it and it works fine until, I felt like the other one is more active than the other one, hopefully you can help me. Again thank you so much..
Good question. Honestly, maybe not. I know they sounds superficial, but for this price, you kind of expect something more than a generic black box with a volume knob. Also, it would depend if it was made to go in a rack or not.
I'm looking for a 2 channel receiver with touch screen and album art that stores mucic. Cocktail seems like the most affordable option. I think NAD has something. Can you do a comparison?

I don't know how I would test for eARC vs ARC as I use a projector with no ARC compatibility. I hope it gets IMAX enhanced, but I'm not holding my breath. I'm not sure what you're asking about with regards to Audyssey
the MDC is the one thing that's got me drawn towards the c368 (all i need is a decent stereo amp with hdmi switching capabilities, which comes as a module, don't need the BluOS one tho) PS was the upgrade so fine you had to put a jacket on? :P
Yeah $3K is rough. Totally understandable. This is a business expense for me so that's the only reason I can do it. If you don't already have a external power amp, maybe this is the time to start looking. All I'm saying is that I have an upcoming review of the MiniDSP DDRC88A with DIRAC so that might be interesting also.
@@joentell Great point. I don't have an external amp but perhaps that would be the way to go and just use the AVR as a preamp. Definitely gives me more options.

I don't know. I guess it depends on the person. I find it hard to go back not just because I really think DIRAC makes a huge difference, but that touchscreen just looks so cool. But I get it. $3K is no joke! I can justify the cost because I do this for a living.
They need more stock then. I see these aren't readily available online. I wish they would just sell these direct or on Amazon, but I guess it's a business decision. I'm sure they know their business better than I do.
$3000 power amp too with the Parasound A52+. I currently have ELAC Uni-Fi 2.0 for left, center, right, PSB Alpha P5 for surrounds, 4 SVS Prime Elevation for height, SVS SB3000 sub, and Monolith THX 10 sub. The amp is overkill for these speakers, but it's good for testing purposes. I would prefer to use larger front speakers, but my arrangement won't allow for it.
@@joentell I think that would be a cool video to do, I've always read online its better to have multiple of the same subwoofer than to mix and match. I'll have to give this a shot sometime, are you using mini dsp or did you calibrate them manually?
Yes, you would get more predictable results using the same subs, but two high quality subs, even if they're different, will still help with some of the issues when using only a single sub.
Dirac not working properly, source change popping, and HDMI not working with arc. Here's a video from a dealer in Germany talking about Dirac not working. Just use RUclips translate ruclips.net/video/ZDMRxtBnC0M/видео.html&feature=emb_title.
LOL when kids pushing the buttons determines your AVR choice and setup; no don’t touch the touchscreen! Here, here’s this 2,000 dollar iPad instead. Awesome haha
Its not modular. If it was, they would have an HDMI 2.1 card for it. And what about IMAX software? So they call this upgradeable ,but they don't upgrade it. LOL
@@joentell Gotta pass on it. When these companies put a product out with features it will have in the future... Hard pass, because they never do it. @@joentell good to hear lol I'm an old 45 year old fart tech is not my strong suit I get around but the deep stuff I'm lost
Best looking AVR on the market imo, and that screen is awesome! wish I could afford one... maybe when my Denon dies from heat exhaustion. Love the NAD sound, especially with music seems to be where they shine over the competition.
How is this unit compared to Monoprice HTTP1 or Marantz Processors as far as sound quality?
I've been having a hard time finding a clean face AVR. I'm not going to be controlling from the front panel and I don't want distractive lights while watching movies. 4K upscaling in my current AVR is nice. I'm not spending over $500 unless it's the Yamaha YSP. I might need to fabricate a sub enclosure to fit under my sofa. AVR's are like gaming systems right now, sold out or jacked up pricing, because of the lockdowns.
Keep rocking dude .
🤘
Is the NAD m17 v2i just as good even though no internal amp? What makes this so much more expensive? It does the same thing without amp?
Finally, receivers with Dirac! - Sounds so much better than Audyssey. I describe Dirac as more real sounding, more natural and almost 3D... I have Dirac in my computer for now using their new standalone Processor which doesnt downsample like Audyssey. You get the full 192Hz if desired. I just route everything through the PC to my Marantz SR7012. - Soo much better than Audyssey. (Which is permanently switched off now).
I have a MiniDSP DDRC88A in for review!
@@joentell thnks sir
Joe, have you figured out any way to adjust the front right/left levels if you have a Dirac profile loaded? I can change Center and Surrounds with the remote, but even on the touch screen menu it will not allow me to adjust front left or front right. I like to listen to 2.2 channel music with the sound correction (instead of Analog Bypass), but I want the "center" moved a tad.
I haven't. I don't even use the original remote most of the time. Sorry
Looks like a sweet unit.
So sweet I treat myself to it.
Great stuff. Obviously you like this unit because you bought it.... How would you compare it to the best Yamaha offers from avantage? I would really appreciate your opinion thank you
Its not the receiver thats the highlight here. Its Dirac. Ypao on yamaha can’t possibly compare to dirac
I haven't tried any recent Yamaha stuff

I want to know what the issue is with HDMI handshakes and why it is so hard for these AVR receivers to fix that issue. Seems NAD is not the only one that has this issue. It this a manufacturing issue or a software issue? My Marantz has the same issue and it drives me so crazy thinking about getting a Anthem.
Have you experienced any firmware issues/bugs?
Hey Joe - can I use external amps and completely disconnect the internal power amp ? Also, wondering I can assign the internal power amp to the channels I prefer? I want to run the centre stage with an amp.
I don't think you can turn off the internal amp like on the new Denon and Marantz in their Pre-amp mode. I think all internal amps still run so whatever you have connected will play that channel's signal. You can't reassign them though.
@@joentell Did you observe any interference when using external amp for main channels?
Thanks for the review Joe! Would you say this is a meaningful upgrade over NAD's entry level AVR? I'm getting a 5.1.2 Atmos system with B&W 683 floorstanders and centre with fyne audio in ceiling surrounds
Does yours have DIRAC? That's the main reason I got this one.
@@joentell Yes, it does. I'm choosing between the two options at present. There's a 2x price difference, which is steep!
@@shivanksarin6199 I like the T778 a lot, but since I also have external amplification, I have my eye on the Monolith HTP-1 also because I really enjoy Auro-3D.
That sounds wonderful, wish I had the budget haha!
Would you recommend using this as a pre pro?
Sure!
In this receiver (at least up to February 2021) bass management does not work correctly and due to this issue has even been cancelled from the offering of one of the bigger German Home Theater installers.
This doesn't have DIRAC bass management if that's what you mean. Are you referring to a different issue?
@@joentell The regular rerouting of frequencies below the set crossover frequency to the Sub does not seem to work correctly and furthermore they measured that it often randomly loses the Dirac correction on certain channels. (Mostly center) So the firmware still seems very wonky.
Hmm. I'm curious to hear more about the issues with the sub calibration.
So, does it have Bluetooth in it, or do I have to buy a certain Bluetooth dongle?
Really wanted to keep the NAD. Such a sexy beast. But those HDMI issue cannot be understated. Going from zero issues with HDMI to having to hope that video is displayed when going to play a game or watch a movie was a deal breaker for me.
sir awesome AVR great video maybe my next avr will be a NAD
I'm excited for you then
NAD = Quality
@@joentell nice!!! Can't wait,.
Morning Joe. I ordered the iotavx sa3 finally. I just found they also have a Cd player and a home theater receiver or integrated. The cd player is coming out around the end of May
Congrats! That company makes some nice looking stuff.
Wow news to me good to know.
How would you deal with the touch screen if it goes dark or partially dark?
Paranoid as fuck!
Joe n tell good day. I have question, why’s my elac 3010 auto EQ Enable is not turning blue, it’s mot working , thanks
Not sure. I would give a call to ELAC
Thanks sir... i have a couple of it and it works fine until, I felt like the other one is more active than the other one, hopefully you can help me. Again thank you so much..
Would you take the T778 over the SR 8015 Joe?
I really like the touch screen and DIRAC.
Would you buy this if it didn't have a touch screen?
Good question. Honestly, maybe not. I know they sounds superficial, but for this price, you kind of expect something more than a generic black box with a volume knob. Also, it would depend if it was made to go in a rack or not.
I tried the curtain on my Marantz SR6014 and I didn't really like it cut off at 500. I run the the whole range
Have you tried the Nad T778 with external amps? How do they sound? Thank you.
I'm looking for a 2 channel receiver with touch screen and album art that stores mucic. Cocktail seems like the most affordable option. I think NAD has something. Can you do a comparison?

Couple of people on avforums has asked that due to conflicting information, but apparently users have said it has.
I don't know how I would test for eARC vs ARC as I use a projector with no ARC compatibility. I hope it gets IMAX enhanced, but I'm not holding my breath. I'm not sure what you're asking about with regards to Audyssey
the MDC is the one thing that's got me drawn towards the c368 (all i need is a decent stereo amp with hdmi switching capabilities, which comes as a module, don't need the BluOS one tho)

The front right channel of my Marantz SR5012 just recently quit. Totally bummed. Need a new AVR now. Don't know if I want to spend $3k though.

Wow Joe, I dont know man. It looks great but for $3000 there isnt many pluses, pull the old X4500H back out.
I don't know. I guess it depends on the person. I find it hard to go back not just because I really think DIRAC makes a huge difference, but that touchscreen just looks so cool. But I get it. $3K is no joke! I can justify the cost because I do this for a living.
Can you turn off the front display when in use Please
I think you can. I remember seeing a dimming option for sure.
Nice more exposure of this unit
They need more stock then. I see these aren't readily available online. I wish they would just sell these direct or on Amazon, but I guess it's a business decision. I'm sure they know their business better than I do.
Can it stream apple music?
How do I set up any stream service on this amp?
Better than Anthems?
Sorry, I don't know. I've never tried one of their AVR's.
A $3,000 amp what speakers did you used with this ?
$3000 power amp too with the Parasound A52+. I currently have ELAC Uni-Fi 2.0 for left, center, right, PSB Alpha P5 for surrounds, 4 SVS Prime Elevation for height, SVS SB3000 sub, and Monolith THX 10 sub. The amp is overkill for these speakers, but it's good for testing purposes. I would prefer to use larger front speakers, but my arrangement won't allow for it.
@@joentell So you are running 2 different subwoofers at the safe time? How does it sound?
It sounds good because I've integrated them together prior to using DIRAC.
No one mentions a phone app for this thing? Isn't there one?
Mainly for Bluos and just volume control. Dirac has a phone app for calibration

@@joentell Gotta pass on it. When these companies put a product out with features it will have in the future... Hard pass, because they never do it. I'm surprised no one sues them for false advertising.
I'm tired of looking at the same chassis on these receivers. It's like they had designers design the 1st chassis, then fired them and just rolled with the same design for 15-20 yrs. I might have to go with Arcam or Anthem.
