The thing I find funny about this is how Lloyd tells Kratos that he shouldn't just go and die... I'd like to see him live for 4000 years and not desire death
But Lloyd also said that, even if your life has no meaning, as long as you are alive, you can always *give* your life meaning. Kratos thought he lost everything when Lloyd fell off the cliff and he was forced to kill Anna. He had nothing to live for until the day he learned that his son was, in fact, alive, and he got a chance to get to know his son better as the game progresses, in his own way. By the games end, I think Kratos is okay with himself. He has his people to look after on Derris Kharlan and he leaves Aselia knowing he'll never see his son again, but he also leaves knowing that his son lives, that his son grew into a fine young man, and that his son has a noble dream to follow, to collect all the remaining Ex-Spheres so there are no more lives lost to them, and presumably to finish his tradeskills with his adoptive dad Dirk, build a boat and ply his trade around the world. Lloyd is Kratos's meaning to go on living. Just knowing his son is alive and well, and has a dream to aspire to, is probably enough for him.
Chloe Boulter Same, I played tos back in 4th into 5th grade like crazy. I wanted Kratos in my party, but once I trigger that Kratos flonair scene, I got him on my team. One of my data files said I played it for 107 hours. That was on my fifth playthrough! :D
Vesperia, but Symphonia comes very close... like almost a tie. This game is a classic for me, I love it, and Vesperia blowed me away with the gameplay it had (more than Abyss did)
I love how you're wailing on him with these epic two-sword combos, jumping into the air and stuff, and then he attacks and it's just this lightning blade fail that always misses. xP
That fight earned you major respect props from me... I had to turn the fight down to easy when I did it as a kid, and even now I still need to use all the Apple Gels ever.
i think in the end he still held back. he never uses judgment and he says he is in angel form but he keeps his angel form off till right before he releases the seal
For some reason I thought Lloyd's style of fighting was a little clunky (twin swords) and unfinessed but I have to agree- Twin Tiger Blade is awesome. It looks graceful. Though did you glitch it? Twin Tiger Blade is a Strike attack and Tiger Rage is Tech...
He's actually chaining four moves together with an EX Skill that allows two lv 1 techs in a row (Demon Fang and Tiger Blade). He used a glitch to learn both Tiger Rage (T lv 2) and Twin Tiger Blade (S lv 3). The knockdown from Twin Tiger Blade stalls long enough for him to get off Demonic Tiger Blade (lv 3), which is used as a standalone move after the regular combo to lift him up and stagger him long enough to start the combo from the beginning. It also helps that he's attacking from the back.
when Lloyd said that he can die any time i imagined Kratos was like Shit your right then he gets out his sword and stabs himself.. My imagination is weird
Also the scene where Kratos releases the seal is one of my favourite scenes in the whole game, along with the scene where Lloyd finds out Kratos is his dad :3
he does. he uses the purple outfit in disc one and in disc two he changes to his angelic outfit. then after the 3rd fight with mithos in yggdrassil, kratos will appear in his purple outfit again and he'll have that for the rest of the game unless you equip the judgement title on him.
Attacks are different levels. And you can combine attacks of different levels. Such as Demon Fang being a lvl. 1 attack, and Twin Tiger Blade being a lvl2. You can't combine attacks of the same level. What he does is that combines one of each level, then just before the enemy topples down and get invurnerability, he demon fangs him back up on his feet. Thus not reseting the combo.
Apparently, this battle is defying my logic. 1. Lloyd got money from his dad from slicing him to bits 2. He definitely took breathing classes. 3. Doesn't have a lot of muscles even when doing those artes over 5,000 times!
yes, but I have my priorities with probably the last PS2 games I will buy (P4 and KH Re:CoM) and there isn't enough money yet for more 360 games, but be sure in 2009 you will see more 360 action from me :)
Actually, with ability plus, you can link two Lv.1 attacks then use twin tiger blade to knock Kratos down. Then, follwoing up with demon fang, can lift him up and repeat the combo.
it's not the material blade at first, it's the flamberge the second half of the material blade, the first half of it is the vorpal sword which dirk forged for lloyd, but it needed a partner as lloyd uses twin blades as a weapon, so yah
kratos: And how would you have access to such information lloyd: I use a magic lens, easy kratos: Say wha-? (Battle starts) kratos: NO! ITEMS!! EVER!!!
You need to delete the relevant moves in order to learn them. But apparently there exists a glitch to keep some moves from the branch via the shortcut system (C-stick). Look it up cause I can't explain it here.
I remember beating Kratos fairly easily a couple years ago but I recently started a new file and some kind of glitch in my game is making it so that each of my hits does only one damage. So I have no chance of progressing past this point.
Omega please respond, how to did u get Tiger Rage and Twin Tiger Blade together because Tiger Rage is the 1st T-Type evolution of Tiger Blade and Twin Tiger Blade is the second S-Type Evolution of Tiger Blade. Please Help
this is my favorite tales fight so far! it has so much meaning considering how its not just Son vs. father but its also Kartos vs. his past (represented by Lloyd) XD
I used the Tech glitch. Its no hack or anything, its just a glitch that Namco didn't remove when they made the game. look it up at gamefaqs (there is a guide) or in youtube (there is a video guide). Pretty usefull, specially for Genis :D
Still to this day, the best RPG i've played in my entire life. Story, voice acting, and gameplay are near perfection. This game first introduce me to differents skillset like footsies , s, positionning and combo that i'm still using across a lot of video game today. Truly the GOAT of the rpg genre
I'm wondering, how does he do demon fang > tempest > tiger rage > twin tiger blade? Does he have that follow up ex skill? I never could figure out how that one worked, tried like loads of lvl 3 attacks, but they couldn't do two in a row, so I suppose it's only for lower level skills?
He almost fights the same way in Radiant Mythology. It will take two hits to make him flinch in both versions (since he's a boss character and all). My brothers and my cousin and I were all playing that game together in here, but since my little brother was Lloyd this fight was just a regular major boss fight where he had to worry about healing himself more than usual. Anyway that was a great fight and combo.
wait u can learn both tiger rage and twin tiger blade? i thought tiger rage is lv2 T and twin tiger blade is a lv3 S,lv2 S was heavy tiger blade? correct me if im wrong
The other day, I was experimenting with the Wooden Blade vs. Kratos (Lv. 68, Mania MOde) It was was a bit different than the Wooden Blade at Lv. 126, but whatever. (Only doing 1s suck.) But it looks like Kratos goes into Overlimit after every 70 or so hits. Anyway, I'm two levels above you, and yet, my battle time is nothing compared to yours (Mine is 2`44`11). I actually plan to, however, do a Wooden Blade fight vs. Kratos, complete with 24,000 hits. That'll be...Oh, god.
That awesome feeling when you wish you had this game, then realize you remember buying it years ago, and find it waaaaay in the back of your closet. :)
@TheToSFans he could have gone with one style the first playthrough kept the moves through the BONUS shop and went with the other style second playthrough cause switching styles mid game is troublesome
I never understood what makes an attack a Technical type or Strike type. I believe this is the only Tales game that categorizes attacks as T-types or S-types.
now that you mention it... oh shi... now that I remember, I haven't done that one yet... guess I will have to practice with Sheena a bit >__> or maybe I'm too overleveled for that one now mmmmm
yupyup, but the other 2 were optional, i guess which is probably why namco had the option of making them harder. this one was storyline and if it was too hard then.... you wouldn't be able to finish the game
Kratos: "I'm not going to hold back this time."
Lloyd: "I know.. I won't either." *Holds tomato in hand*
One of the best father vs son duel I've ever seen!
The thing I find funny about this is how Lloyd tells Kratos that he shouldn't just go and die... I'd like to see him live for 4000 years and not desire death
But Lloyd also said that, even if your life has no meaning, as long as you are alive, you can always *give* your life meaning. I've seen this video so many times, but I still get goosebumps every time Kratos' theme starts
I'm seeing your comments on all the ToS videos I watch today XD
Kratos: Can I get some Demon Fang with a side of Tiger Blade?
Lloyd: Coming right up!
Really cool that chain *Demon Fang > Tiger Blade > Twin Tiger Blade.* Omega, you're the best!
"I'm not going to hold back this time!
"I know.....I won't, either."
Why does that send shivers down my spine? xDDDD I love it.
I'm obsessed with Tales of Symphonia, almost completed it for the second time :) I LOVE Kratos too, I can't get over how much I love him :3
We all share that feel...
so far I'm on my 8th playthough lol
lol. Beaten Chronicles on my cousin's PS3 for the 2nd time already.
Chloe Boulter Same, I played tos back in 4th into 5th grade like crazy. I wanted Kratos in my party, but once I trigger that Kratos flonair scene, I got him on my team. One of my data files said I played it for 107 hours. That was on my fifth playthrough! :D
This Fight was so much epic, I put a a weak weapon on Lloyd in Mania Mode, just to make it even more epic than it should.
Kratos: lightning blade
*miss*
Kratos:lightning blade
*miss*
Kratos:lightning blade
*miss*
Kratos:super lightning blade
*hit*
Kratos: fuk ya
This game aged both like fine wine and milk in different ways and I can't properly describe it.
Banging my head to the battle theme
0:55 What a crazy chain of combos there!!!
With all those tiger combos, Sagat from street fighter would be proud.
for how monumental this fight was supposed to be, and how epic it is, it gets upstaged by what goes down immediately after the next fight
Did he use the glitch to get tiger rage and twin tiger blade?
What glitch
That ex-skill allows you to follow-up 2 Lv 1 skills in a combo:
Lv 1 > Lv 1 > Lv 2 > Lv 3
Vesperia, but Symphonia comes very close... like almost a tie.
This game is a classic for me, I love it, and Vesperia blowed me away with the gameplay it had (more than Abyss did)

That fight earned you major respect props from me... I had to turn the fight down to easy when I did it as a kid, and even now I still need to use all the Apple Gels ever.
This sure does bring back memories. This is the single greatest moment in the entire Tales series IMO, when Lloyd and Kratos fight 1-on-1.
i think in the end he still held back. he never uses judgment and he says he is in angel form but he keeps his angel form off till right before he releases the seal

It is. The voice is Scott Menville, he voices Lloyd, Robin, and that nerd guy from black ops 2 zombies.
he does. he uses the purple outfit in disc one and in disc two he changes to his angelic outfit. then after the 3rd fight with mithos in yggdrassil, kratos will appear in his purple outfit again and he'll have that for the rest of the game unless you equip the judgement title on him.
I love how Lloyd beats Kratos like its his job.
Attacks are different levels. And you can combine attacks of different levels. Such as Demon Fang being a lvl. 1 attack, and Twin Tiger Blade being a lvl2. @Chodozia 3 things, is the Earth Dungeon the Temple of Earth, whats Heavy Tiger Rage and what if ur nr not the level to learn Twin Tiger Blade
I like how Kratos enters Over-Limit when his theme starts playing in the Duel theme.
So, does anyone else think the song's title (The end of a thought) is referring to the end of Kratos' thoughts of wanting to die?
I never realized how Tales has changed. 24000 HP is how much an enemy in the middle of the game has in Vesperia hahaha
Apparently, this battle is defying my logic.
1. Lloyd got money from his dad from slicing him to bits

@XIIIVentus its a bug in the game. You can also get Genis S and T Magic.
it's not the material blade at first, it's the flamberge the second half of the material blade, the first half of it is the vorpal sword which dirk forged for lloyd, but it needed a partner as lloyd uses twin blades as a weapon, so yah
... and even Kratos wanted to die rather than live and support his son. Worst. Parent. Ever!!!
@Chodozia 1 last thing what do you mean by delete Heavy Tiger Blade. Take it off of C Stick of forget the move
kratos: And how would you have access to such information
lloyd: I use a magic lens, easy
kratos: Say wha-?
(Battle starts)
kratos: NO! ITEMS!! EVER!!!
OH! The Tech Glitch where your put one of the techs on the C-stick and then do something or other?
You need to delete the relevant moves in order to learn them. But apparently there exists a glitch to keep some moves from the branch via the shortcut system (C-stick). Look it up cause I can't explain it here.
and i like your skill tempestXD hey umm what system is that?
I remember beating Kratos fairly easily a couple years ago but I recently started a new file and some kind of glitch in my game is making it so that each of my hits does only one damage. So I have no chance of progressing past this point.
just a question, how do you get both T and S type moves onto lloyd?
Omega please respond, how to did u get Tiger Rage and Twin Tiger Blade together because Tiger Rage is the 1st T-Type evolution of Tiger Blade and Twin Tiger Blade is the second S-Type Evolution of Tiger Blade. Please Help
this is my favorite tales fight so far! it has so much meaning considering how its not just Son vs. father but its also Kartos vs. his past (represented by Lloyd) XD
when lloyd talks to kratos in flamoir (think its called that) can u buy anything there before the cutscene happens like after the earth temple
its with the tech glitch just search for it here if you dont find it ill see if i find it in my favorites
I used the Tech glitch. Its no hack or anything, its just a glitch that Namco didn't remove when they made the game. look it up at gamefaqs (there is a guide) or in youtube (there is a video guide). Pretty usefull, specially for Genis :D
Tech Glitch
search it on gameFAQs or something, its a bit long and complicated to explain.
Still to this day, the best RPG i've played in my entire life. Story, voice acting, and gameplay are near perfection. This game first introduce me to differents skillset like footsies , s, positionning and combo that i'm still using across a lot of video game today.

I KNOW, ILL USE LIGHTNING BLADE, HE WILL NEVER SUSPECT THAT
*miss*

I know Tiger Rage is definitely T-Type but I remember using Twin Tiger Blade when I had Lloyd at S-Type.
Yeah, the Flamberge was awesome.
Also, Way to go! You picked the Kratos ending :D
Another question, how can you have Tiger Rage and Twin Tiger Blade? Are they from two different branches? (S and T)

Can't you get both by learning all the moves on tech then switch to strike via EX skill or a ring that force you to go strike/tech?
**defeats Kratos in 1 min in mania mode**
YOU ARE WORTHY FOR AN AMAZING GRADE! Here’s the +3.64 you deserve 🥴
That awesome feeling when you wish you had this game, then realize you remember buying it years ago, and find it waaaaay in the back of your closet. :)
My combo isn't well thought out either
normal attacks>Fierce Demon Fang>Beast Swordrain or Hunting Beast =T
@Joeyst3 is gald and exp really doubled in mania? that much i didn't know.
It's still my favorite, and hearing that music playing in Origin Forest brings back so many good memories.
@TheToSFans he could have gone with one style the first playthrough kept the moves through the BONUS shop and went with the other style second playthrough cause switching styles mid game is troublesome
That's the point. He gives that sword to Lloyd as a gift.
No, this means his dad finally gives him his lifetime worth of allowance
I never understood what makes an attack a Technical type or Strike type. I believe this is the only Tales game that categorizes attacks as T-types or S-types.
This is the only Tales game that matters.
*raises flame shield*
Ah, So I had it backwards, thanks for correcting me, so Brian Beacock is the same person for the Soul Calibur legends Lloyd's voice right?
How were you able to get Tiger Rage and Twin Tiger Blade? They are different tech types aren't they?
@omegaevolution how did you get twin tiger blade and tiger rage?
Need to play this. Looks freaking awesome! Oo
how is it possible to get Twin Tiger Blade and Tiger Rage at the same time?
omg i was waiting all day for this! i am sick and bored
Lmao when yuan gives Kratos his mana Kratos is like "fffffuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuccckkkkk......."
"and i yet failed to die again" LOL i will never forget that line!!!!
Can some one explain how he chained a lv 1 combo with another lv 1combo like demon fang and tempest.
Tales series: the RPG series where every battle is fun, even the 25th random encounter in the field.
um if You Dont fight Zelos and kill him what happens to Kratos at the end of the game
what skills does your looyd have and how can i get them on mine
now that you mention it...
oh shi... now that I remember, I haven't done that one yet... guess I will have to practice with Sheena a bit >__>
or maybe I'm too overleveled for that one now mmmmm
is it impossible to get both tiger rage and twin tigerblade?
anyone know what this song is called (while fighting him)
its good that ur not one of those people who use cheap tactics to win you use skill and no cheap tactics thats what i admire about u
how did u get tiger rage and twin tiger blade?
those omegaevolution combos thought I wish I had that talent
How did you do so many combos that fast? O.o
this song is awsome whats it called?
Especially if it goes like this:
"Demo- Tig- Twin Tiger Blade!"
yupyup, but the other 2 were optional, i guess which is probably why namco had the option of making them harder. this one was storyline and if it was too hard then.... you wouldn't be able to finish the game
jesus crist dude u kicked his ass where did u get those swords?
@AngelOfDarkness1311 Mania has a x2 grade increase i think. everything is harder, but gald/exp is doubled...
One of the best Tales of Games ever made
@XOMGITMEX its the tech glitch, look it up on youtube.
