@@applehazeva2739 I kinda get it in a sense. There really aren't that many intresting things you can do with the simp personality and Harley got way too popular to not be used and developed further. She had to come out of the Joker's shadow at some point, but I wish they didn't retcon all versions. Arkham Harley was such a threat that she got her own dlc. I'm just sad because arkham Harley really was the last and one of the best of that version.
This game was insulting not just to the Arkham Universe, but DC lore as a whole.

I dont think Rocksteady can recover from this seeing their founders left years ago because of this game.
They left after they completed the game content wise. Sefton Hill and Ian Ball wrote the story just like Arkham Knight. Sefton Hill was also the one who made the game a looter shooter as he was the creative director.

@@TBone4Breakfast This is false. In the credits Sefton Hill and Ian Ball are the ones who wrote the game’s story. Also WB only told them to make it live service, Sefton Hill made it a looter shooter. Also the story was finished in 2019 and Sefton left in 2022 for unknown reasons, apparently to get away from WBs direction.

In my opinion, this and Gotham Knights should have been reversed studio-wise. WB should have made SS and been allowed to do whatever however (since it wouldn't be canon to the Arkhamverse) while Rocksteady made Gotham Knights and tackled the Court storyline with Jason, Dick, Tim, and Barbara post-Arkham Knight.

Whats weird about the whole retcon for deadshot is that, it implied that the "original" deadshot retired after his zoe born. Its like telling us before batman year one, deadshot already made some contract kills, had several clients that hired him before.
But somehow, when blackmask (joker) hired him to kill batman in origins, he was listed as caucasian. To make the inconsistency even worse is that in origins, it was stated in his profile that deadshot was former military, how come amanda waller didnt know the person she recruited to the suicide squad is a fake one .
Same goes to hugo strange, what, the smartest guy who discovered the identity of batman couldnt figure out there was 2 floyd lawton ?

I love Harley in all her forms, but DC is hellbent on making her a hero in every instance possibe. Making her an anti-hero in the main universe made sense because it was gradual. This Harley had no doubts. She reveled in the pain she inflicted with the Joker. Not every version needs to be a tank girl. Gimme ditz Harley, complete evil Harley, mad genius Harley. She's such a versatile character that can shine in more ways than the one rocksteady chose.
I find it Ironic how the same people who constantly bring up the Multiverse seem hellbent and Making every version of a character reflect a single type.
GK Harley was a great version that was very similar to what Nightwing is to Batman. She kinda grew out of Jokers shadow but still carried on his work
The straw that broke the camels back for me was when boomerang asked if Deadshot was supposed to be white. I look at that scene with a bombastic side eye. It only got worse when TOKENISED/BLACKWASHED Deadshot called the OG Arkham Deadshot a "phony". THAT along with the "toxic masculinity" line in wonder womans bio (WRITTEN BY LEX LUTHOR) along with the disrespect of Arkham Batman was all it took for me to rebuke this piece of garbage as "canon".

Deadshot wasn't an imposter, the video literally says that the Deadshot is his exact, same match, - and another log mentions the copy uses his strategies, his getup, his style, his exact DNA sequence, except that he's white - this isn't new, remember Nick Fury?, the other parts I don't care about, but they did actually write the reasoning, especially for a character in the games that you take down with literally 3 button presses across the Arkham games
First red flag: deadshot was established to be white in city and origins
They made him black in this game (for no actual reason mind you) and try to place a backstory behind this change thinking it'll excuse it
Second red flag: they managed to kill the flash by just.. shooting at him? I get they had the thing that temporarily slows him down but throughout most of the fight hes just summoning tornadoes and running around.. after it was established he can kill all of them in mere seconds
Third red flag: flash saved them and they all gave him no respect whatsoever but when wonder woman just throws them into a building and didnt even save them throughout most of the game she gets beat by superman and suddenly they care? They dont even try to help her they're just flabbergasted and claims allegiance with her, when in gods name was it explained or shown to us thst wonder woman was directly helping them? Yeah i thought so.
Fourth red flag:bat-fucking man just dies to a bullet while sitting on a bench after pulling a scarecrow and just.. standing right in front of the suicide squad and shooting lasers from his eyes? Instead of the regular arkham approach he does in various games against armed enemies.. yeah this game is just downright continuity breaking and upright disrespectful with every passing second each cutscene or boss fight plays

He oneshotted harley before two times in a row, he made quick work of deadshot two times in a row, boomerang even with speedster gauntlet and everything is still a moron and the gauntlet kind of just improves his speed, i can perfectly imagine batman giving him the electrocutioner treatment and just knocking him out in one punch and then throwing a batarang in his cranium
And they did get lucky because batman was about to fill their brains with led except for maybe king shark but thats yet to be proven, and even if they say thats not the real batman or the real justice league the writing is still garbage and if brainiac made copies of them the copies should not be this idiotic nor inconsistent with what they're showing us they can do
TL;DR nearly every member of that suicide squad should have been dead except for king shark because hes basically the heavy hitter and can accomplish more without the gadgets the rest of them are using than... them, and is the only guy i can imagine batman struggling against.

I know this’ll sound like cope, but nothing can convince me this is canon to the AV if there are this many inconsistencies with the timeline between AK and KTJL, as well as the previous Batman games. We should have still gotten an ARKHAM Game, I’m sorry, multiplayer or not, that would be leagues better than whatever this hate-infested tumor of a service is.
I fuckin agree, like, if this is an Arkham game, why is it so different from the Arkham games thematically and logically? So many things are working against it being an Arkhamverse game, which should be fine because it is a _perfectly_ passable game if you divorce it from Arkham.
Why didn't they make a multiplayer Arkham game, if that's what they wanted? Why make it a Suicide Squad game?

The people who made this abomination have no respect for DC or the Arkham games in general and the writing by Sweet Baby Inc. shows that.
One of the few redeemable things about Suicide Squad is the Voice Acting, rarely the lines themselves (again, the writing is obnoxious) but in how they are delivered is passable. The Animations is also OK but still a fall from grace compared to the Arkham games over 9 years ago. Granted, this game has a bigger open world but there are many things that should've looked better, considering how it took to make it

It's kinda like Warhammer's End Times. I can't accept this as the actual conclusion because so many elements contradict not only the past information, but also future revelations. If I accept this it breaks the plot.

It's *Harley* that crosses the line, and not in a "Boomerang going to piss on the Flash's corpse and everyone compliments him on his dick" way. That was just tonal whiplash and gross. King Shark died in Assault on Arkham and he was designed differently i guess the devs forgot about that.
Also green Lanterns existence in the game creates plot holes, green lantern rings do not allow deadly force willy nilly and if John stewarts will has been broken by mind control he shouldn't be able to use his ring.
Or he should have been an entirely different sort of Lantern.

I think it would be a perfect storyline, the black dead shot is hired to kill Arkham deadshot and succeeds, he then realizes what he’s done making Zoe an orphan so he adopts her which would keep the connection to him and Zoe and allow him to be deadshot or hell, if you don’t want og deadshot killed by him just say it was bloodsport who’s allies with deadshot but deadshot dies from brainiacs invasion so bloodsport becomes the new deadshot instead of using multiverse BS. This game never needed to be in te multiverse, the easily could have just not let us beat brainiac yet instead of kill him and made it more clear justice league are clones and the new characters we fight are random justice league characters like Aquaman with the final boss being brainiac

They are from different Earths where genetics work differently. I'm guessing the gene that influences skin color on one Earth didn't influence skin color on the other Earth?
It's a common thing in the DC multiverse where multiversal counterparts would share the same DNA but have very different physiology.

I liked Arkham's Harley Quinn because it was "revolutionary" at the time, it dared to keep Harley as the character she had always been while the new comics pushed all that nonsense. I was pretty concerned that this game would take her in that direction. And it did exactly that. In every way possible.

This game is a retcon galore.
Harley dressing Batman down in any capacity makes no sense, but it makes absolutely zero sense in the Arkham universe. This Harley is beyond evil and even helped Joker kill and mutilate children.

Blackshot would have worked just by saying he's another guy, one who took the gear and name after the other one found his happy ending and retired or got killed by another villain in the 5 years.

This harley was pure evil she would have been great if she stayed evil especially from what we seen in the "leaks" of the batman beyond game
She assisted Joker in:
1) Manipulating a man to kill himself after she helped Joker experiment on a little girl.
2) Helped Joker torture Jason Todd who was a teenager at the time.
3) Was ok with Joker killing Kindergartners and sawing them back together.
And expects us to feel sorry for her in this shite game?

This game idolizes Harley to a ludicrous level. I can't remember a single joke made at her expense while Shark, Boomerang and Deadshot get made fun of all the time.
I’m not even inherently against Harley having a redemption arc even in a universe like this. But they went about it in the worst way possible.
If they want us to see this version of Harley as redeemable, they have to show that she feels remorse for her actions.
They should’ve had her begin still smitten with the Joker, But perhaps as the events of the game play out, she comes to realize that he was a terrible person (there’s a number of ways you could do this but fear toxin hallucinations would probably be the easiest solution).
She feels ashamed that she worshiped this man for so long and the realization of the atrocity she committed in his name finally kick in.
Show her breakdown and think that she doesn’t deserve to go on. Then you could have the squad, who at that point have come to kind of like each other, gives her some tough love, and explains that feeling bad about herself isn’t going to get them out of the situation, but if she really does feel guilty for what she did, she can help them, save the world.
Yeah it’s a bit generic, but if you have to redeem Harley in this universe, that’s probably the best way to go. You have to show that she feels bad about what she did rather than just saying “it was a phase.”
Yep, I know you said this is generic and while most of the list is, the one part that isn’t, is her realising the depth of what she’s did. It disappointing to say but not a single of one of any Harley’s redemption arcs in media, every touch on that subject.

a good excuse for Deadshot would be that a fake Deadshot killed the real one to try to surpass him, doesn't make much sense but makes more sense than Batman somehow fighting the wrong Deadshot
The harley and deadshot character changes are fanfic levels of "we can make this work".
this seems to be the problem of they want to force connection with Arkham series, all while trying to make Harley more of her modern comic, the "hate Joker and in love with Ivy" type with completely conflict with Arkham Harley
The injustice comics are the same way with Harley. They made her go the anti hero route and work actively with Batman FOR YEARS despite the fact that in addition to years of crime she actively participated in the joker NUKING 8 MILLION PEOPLE. But yeah sure it makes sense that she's an anti hero Batman would work with and not lock up, and all of the other heroes working with Batman were just okay with it too.

Also Batman was trying to be an inspiration to get the global population to resist superman, so working with the person responsible for again NUKING 8 MILLION PEOPLE seems unlikely.
And then all of batmans allies lost their minds when he starting working with the rogues, bank robbers who avoided violent crime and prided themselves on never killing or maiming people, but are perfectly fine with working with a mass murdering, serial killing, violent child deleted. Harley & Ivy were friends in animated series, but it's not an Arkham canon. Also Harley in animated series was redeemable and sympathetic because there weren't anything heinous committed since cartoon was kids friendly.

Brand recognition. That's the only reason. This game follows a terrible route that has come around lately. Writers who want to tell their own stories using already established IP or universes to hook people in but barely follow or ignore the source material altogether. As stated they turned Harley Quinn into the modern independent Harley without the work. She never had a romantic relationship with Ivy. Especially not one that makes the already pedo-esque convo she has with Kid Ivy seem less...gross. At best maybe she had a crush but it's clear Arkhamverse Harley was all Mr. J all the time. And Deadshot's recon is sooooooooo lazy. He is perhaps the worst character. Always bitching about how terrible John Stewart is for having the gall to lock him up and keep him from his daughter for murdering people. What a jerk. Don't even get me started on the "boooooo black cop ewwww" way his lex codec comes off. But even worse is that the race swap "imposter" nonsense makes Batman look like an idiot. The world's greatest detective never once in his fight against the "fake" Deadshot ever mentions that he's an imposter?
The problem with this Harley is that they fact they confirm this Arkahm Harley which already causes so much story dissonance. It gives the suspension of disbelief because Arkahm already set up Harley as a Psychotic moron thats too far gone to save in her grief for Jokers death. If they had set up some kinda redemption arc in Arkahm Knight then maybe its plausible but they didn't so of course it made people confused why Harley suddenly has this whole personality switch.

I'm honestly shocked by this game. When they first teased it and said it was in the Arkham timeline I assumed that it would actually respect the characters and, despite the title, be about saving the Justice League. Nope. They have the best Batman ever killed by one of his more pathetic villains on a park bench.

Another thing worth mentioning is that they made Harley Quinn’s face more like Margot Robbie (Don’t get me wrong I love Margot Robbie I think she is perfect as Live action, Harley Quinn but this is unnecessary change that should never happen.) compared to her face in the previous Arkham games.

The dumbest part about Suicide Squad kill the Justice League is we all know why Harley looks the way she does. It's not even a graphics thing. She didn't look like that in Arkham Knight. Her face model is clearly inspired by Margot Robbie. This was more of a movie tie in than an Arkham spin off. Because Will Smith clearly inspired the Deadshot of this game.
They even tried to race swap deadshot by saying the white deadshot is a fake like wtf? How would batman not notice tbis and not even mention it throughout the arkhamverse tf.
I don’t think ivy and Harley were dating in Arkhamverse I just think this was a case of them being really close friends like maybe after jokers death they got super close, Or while working for peguin in arkham knight. I feel like she mourned for ivy way healthier than the joker and ik it was a toxic relationship and all but joker and Harley were together for awhile if we go by the Arkham games. And the worst part is we may not ever know because of bad writing like what they did to deadshots or Batmans story.
i don't even see them interact much, if anything, Ivy seems to be close to Cat Woman as we seen in Arkham City. You would have to be really close to Ivy if she willing to give you some flowers for you to take care of, even forgave and help Catwoman even though she forgot to water those plants and let them die.

I kept seeing sooooooany red flags from this game every time they released teasers. Especially the batman teaser trail while everyone on social media was praising it, I knew it wasn't the same batman. SSKJL's Batman is a skinny, smooth, featureless model that looked cheaply made on Blender

If it was up to me? I would've written the plot so that Batman let himself be brainwashed in order to download the Joker from his mind into Brainiac like a computer virus, weakening him enough for the Squad's victory to make sense. Right there, a "gotcha" twist that both dignifies Batman and incorporates a central element from prior lore. They insisted on tying it to the Arkham saga, so at least they could DO something with the options that that presented!
Nice, but personally I'd just have him not be Batman until after half the justice league is under Brainiac's control, because remember he said he wasn't gonna be Batman anymore at the end of the last game because everyone knows who Batman is now. But with half the justice league gone rouge he'd have no choice but to dawn the cape and cowl again. And instead of Harley killing him I'd have him sacrifice himself against Superman so the suicide squad could take him out.
I think the point is it’s a different earth but just one super similar to Arkham in every way except small things like deadshot being a different race, Mrs freeze, etc.

Honestly, I kind of feel bad for rocksteady. I know I shouldn’t have because obviously their company and you shouldn’t be friends with companies but come on rocksteady made the Arkham games and then they fumbled with killed the Justice league. I liked it for a while until I didn’t, but part of me wanted to like the game, I don’t know why but I wanted to like the game so badly it’s just how they did. The characters terribly made me kind of upset and a little bit sad to be fair to be fair. We could’ve had a justice league game set after Arkham or better yet a Superman game set after Arkham, maybe there would’ve been hints that Bruce Wayne was alive not just blatantly say he’s alive and part of the justice league, then controlled by brainiac, which doesn’t make sense in other continuities. Brainiac has controlled other characters, but the characters would soon break out of that control easily like it can happen, but They just choose not to do that part, I hope Betty jumps back after finishing killed the Justice Leak with all their DLC’s

Shoving SSKTJL into the Arkham-verse very obviously was done by some higher-up who wanted to try piggybacking on the legendary homerun series that folks are still playing a decade and a half later. They saw the Arkham-verse as a piggy bank sitting on the shelf collecting dust, and decided they needed to smash it and see how much money they had saved up...just to blow it all on blackjack and hookers.
Here is the truth, as it stands from now on: Rocksteady and WB no longer get to decide what is and isnt canon to the Arkham-verse. In the post-DCRebirth era, everything in the entire history of comics both is and isnt canon depending on what story is being told at the moment, and who is in charge of that story for that title. Well, Rocksteady and WB are now fired, and we the fans get to decide what is and is not canon to OUR stories.
And no matter what they say or do, the suicide squad nonsense will never be canon. As far as I am concerned, SSKTJL is a god-awful Tumblr fanfic.
Yeah, I don't think, that this will be canon for long. At some point they will just call it part of a different timeline and move on (even though for now they say it is part of the Arkham Universe) and honestly, nobody will care, if they toss this into the bin.

What really annoys me is that Arkham Asylum Harley's outfit choice wasn't ENTIRELY in her own volition. Arkham Asylum shows the characters not using their traditional outfits but their asylum clothing. It's all makeshift and is made best out of a bad situation (at least from the perspective of the villians)
They could've said that Harley hated the outfit because it was makeshift or that she just wore it cause they were in the Asylum. It would've made a lot more sense than it being a "phase'

Gotham knights never claimed to be part of the Arkham series. Only suicide squad did that.
This game is just like Transformers Robots In Disguise 2015. The writers of a franchise tried to continue a very successful series of storytelling and games/seasons with the intent to link the game to the previous iterations. Unfortunately, due to a severe lack of fact-checking, ignorance, and general blustering, they are the bad apples that ruin the entire tree of great continuties
