I even would bet this was the game Rocksteady initially was going to make as a continuation of the Arkham universe but WB’s milk the fans dry initiative focused on SSKTJL turned that corner pushing the unfinished project of Gotham Knights onto WB Montreal. Give them their credit though, they did their best with what they were given, they do a great job with narrative a la Arkham Origins.
Suicide Squad should have followed Gotham Knights example. Like yeah Suicide Squad would have still sucked but at least it wouldn't have sucked as much.

it's quite funny to me how Gotham Knights, a game deliberately NOT in the Arkhamverse, wants you to think it is with its gameplay while handling the death of Batman with some actual fucking gravitas and care, whereas Suicide Squad IS in the Arkhamverse and ditched its robust melee combat for generic third-person shooting and handled the death of Batman with... how did Joker put it? to me the ss game play kills it for me iam so use to the old arkham game controls.
They could find a way to add another Robin in as Damian Wayne or save that for a sequel, say Batman fell into the Lazarus and is alive again, they could add both Stephanie brown and Cassandra Cain as either batgirls or spoiler and orphan, and there’s a lot more, and what makes it worse is the fact we will never get a sequel with any of these characters
The new Wonder Woman by Monolith studios has some massive expectations to overcome because since Gotham Knights and Suicide Squad Kill The Justice League both failed all eyes and hope is now on this Wonder Woman game to be amazing.

This game gets a lot of shit but I hope that other adaptations take the family dynamic from this game, because they all feel like siblings trying to respect their father's legacy as much as they can and it kinda sucks this is the latest thing to show the importance of the bat family.
I actually loved certain aspects of the characters. In the media they just allergic to write Nightwing the way he is in the comics (very charaismatic, friendly, empathetic, funny, but very competent when he has to be). They always want to make him into a dark and broody Batman ripoff (DC Anmimated, Titans, Young Justice etc). We have never got a Nightwing who is very similar to his comic book counterpart. (GK Nightwing has some of the good nature/humor/lightheartedness comic book Dick Grayson has)
The Robins and Batgirls still felt alot like sidekicks in Gotham Knights due to every villain being hand me downs from Bruce and the antagonists having more personal connections to him than the family, like the court of owls had potential to be Nightwings dark reflection since William Cobb was his grandad in the comics but they never utilized it in game.
They left it intentionally vague since you can choose to play as 4 different characters. They had to make their experiences uniform and pretty much identical. Otherwise, they'd have to make 4 unique plots.
Y’know, after the… squad game… I find myself kinda comforted by the familiarity of Gotham Knights. Like, is it better than the Arkham games? No, not really. But is it trying to be? I don’t think so. It’s a game that delves into the mechanics of Batman’s sidekicks, with just enough similarity to arkham to keep you familiar without seeming like a complete ripoff. Honestly, all things considered, the game’s a solid 7/10, retrospectively.

Every mission felt like I was playing an episode of a series and it hit a nostalgia place in my heart that make me love it a lot. I wish they had a second chance. I would Have like this game to be live service and be like a tv show with different seasons, each season focusing on a big villain.

I agree that DC gaming should be in a better spot. There are so many cool stories to tell! Ive found myself going back and playing DC Universe Online just for the small little story beats in the leveling and raiding.
Jason is buff canonically. He is heavier (tho shorter) than Batman canonically. And in comics it shows, when he sands next to Bruce, their height difference is very slight. This is not the case with Dick who is much smaller than both Bruce, and Jason. (Jason is 6ft, 225 lbs, Batman is 6'2 ft, 210 lbs, Dick is 5'10, 175 lbs) In New 52 writers/artists forgot that Jason is actually huge (when he was created he was listed as being 250 lbs!) and people who became the fans of Jason think he is supposed to be a twink. Which he is not. During Rebirth they retconned his original height/weight back. It blows my mind why they artists refuse to draw him bigger thn Grayson.
12:42 - there were Comic Book DLC skins - - DC had a Batman Gotham Knights series (6 issues) each issue had a different skin for weapons for each character, a color drop for the suits, and if you collected all the comics you got a "cowboy" themed skins for each character.

The Gotham Knights is clearly a game rebooted from scratch a lot of times and suffered from behind the scenes shit, considering we had leaks of Damian Court of Owls ever since Arkham Knight.
The only thing I can say about this game is potential. Make combat little bit faster, polish traversal system with some improvements and add more character growth.
Gotham Knights was okay to me. I still go on patrol with my buddy and do endgame stuff but i enjoy the general gameplay. Game could move faster but I'd take this over Suicide Squad anyday.
The writing for that scene where the kids tease him while he's making the video in case he dies.. the writing works and I enjoy what its doing but there's this weird vacuous energy to it. Like there's soo much empty air between almost every line and so much of the delivery feels muted. Idk if it needed a score underneath or to build to some kind of crescendo or just a quicker pace but idk, something about it just feels off

There is enjoyment to be had with this game but there's no mistaking it's flawed. I've been playing it and I do recommend trying it for yourself, primarily with a friend. There a small tweaks that could have pushed this game much higher, I was okay with the the combat not being 1 to 1 with Arkham but there's almost a stutter to both that and general movement
I’m ngl this games campaign felt like it was made purely for red hood to me, red hood can mostly relate to Bruce with the pit and almost all the dialogue seemed to make red hood the character that’s supposed to be doing everything
well Harley does seem surprised that we showed up and only then realizes that batman is actually dead. its possible most of the other big villains are waiting to be sure and would have been bigger in a sequel to this game

Quick note. Every single negative a person can mention about this game is present in Spider-Man 2.
The Gotham Knights is clearly a game rebooted from scratch a lot of times and suffered from behind the scenes shit, considering we had leaks of Damian Court of Owls ever since Arkham Knight.
The main issue is the lack of true DLC content
The only thing I can say about this game is potential. Make combat little bit faster, polish traversal system with some improvements and add more character growth.
Gotham Knights was okay to me. I still go on patrol with my buddy and do endgame stuff but i enjoy the general gameplay. Game could move faster but I'd take this over Suicide Squad anyday.

The writing for that scene where the kids tease him while he's making the video in case he dies.. the writing works and I enjoy what its doing but there's this weird vacuous energy to it. Like there's soo much empty air between almost every line and so much of the delivery feels muted. Idk if it needed a score underneath or to build to some kind of crescendo or just a quicker pace but idk, something about it just feels off

Is it that bad? I can maybe see the face being a little off but otherwise Jason is accurate. Jason has been shown to be pretty buff and heavy but slightly shorter than Batman himself. It was just the New 52 where things changed in terms of the characters design
There is enjoyment to be had with this game but there's no mistaking it's flawed. I've been playing it and I do recommend trying it for yourself, primarily with a friend. There a small tweaks that could have pushed this game much higher, I was okay with the the combat not being 1 to 1 with Arkham but there's almost a stutter to both that and general movement
I’m ngl this games campaign felt like it was made purely for red hood to me, red hood can mostly relate to Bruce with the pit and almost all the dialogue seemed to make red hood the character that’s supposed to be doing everything
It must be a matter of interpretation, because I play almost exclusively as Red Hood and feel like this is Dick’s game.

A sequel that fix and improve the shortcoming could only help.

well Harley does seem surprised that we showed up and only then realizes that batman is actually dead. its possible most of the other big villains are waiting to be sure and would have been bigger in a sequel to this game

One thing I'll say in regard to Batman's suit in this game:
The belt needs to be yellow. Makes the symbol kinda stand out like a sore thumb.
This game probably would of been more alive if it was crossplay at launch and even when they did add crossplay it wasn’t an option on PlayStation

The only thing l liked about the game is where you can play as the Bat-Family. I just wished they would have made the story better. It bugged me they had to kill Batman not once but twice.
I find it weird that they use ras al gul and talia algul as villain and didn, t used damian because there was a story to be told there also why does tim outfit look like damian rebirth suit
For a second when you first see Talia, i thought for a split second it was Damian and was very intrigued, then was corrected by the next w seconds.

To be honest I feel like the only reason I got through this game was because I was playing with a friend. I mean its fun to play it in co-op but if I played it alone I think I would've gotten really bored quick. Doesn't help the enemies are so dam spongy. Also yea barbra got that cake in this game and guess who I picked.
Just make a Batman Arkham Origins 2 or whatever. There's literal years between Arkham Origins and Asylum, more than enough to milk the cow with decent content instead of... well this.
