Phil Larry here from calif, I must say I love the way you leave what nature made and letting all of us see God's work I'm not preacher far from it but when our son died I lost it and without God in my life I would be nothing and God turned me to wood turning and working with wood! I know you lost your wife that's hard to I know me and my wife been married 47 years we grew up 4 houses down from each other I've known her for 66 years I'm 70 soon to be 71 I'Ve been fighting prostate cancer for 23 years and in march I found out I had colon cancer had surgery within a week doing ok I guess the cancer is the easy part losing a son is the hardest part! but God gave me two beautiful grandkids from my daughter now they are my life!1 I don't know why I'm rambling on and I'm sorry you inspire me and I'm sure other God Bless you my friend!! ........Larry

Thank you, Phil, for showing us all the beauty in a pruning off-cut! Well, not pruning, exactly. My bro-in-law had to make room for his new shop, so several yard trees had to be removed and he gave me what I wanted. Now, thanks to your video, I have a much better idea how to turn the other piece like it.
Excellent turning and a gorgeous bowl!

So many of your videos (but, I’ll admit, not all - everyone’s tastes differ after all) I’ve turned to my wife and said “I could give that house room” - I don’t need to say it any more, she just takes it as read. That piece makes me wish I lived down the road from you so I could bid on it, but I’m several thousand miles down the road in England, so I’ll have to be content with watching the transformation and seeing the resulting beauty that Nature and you have wrought together.

I am 85% completed with a Apple box with sliding slide to hold long match sticks. It is a gift for my new 74 yr old neighbor who is almost finished building his house and getting ready to move in next month. He is Sicilian and made a very large pizza oven in the corner of a large indoor room with a nice view of his back yard. Three of us neighbor's have been helping him build over the past year. I had done some trimming last summer on his neglected apple tree, hence some thick, 14" straight logs, which I slabbed and air dried. This summer I thought my thickness planner was getting dull but it was just the extra hard wood. I was going to make myself a box, but really don't want to ever work with apple wood again. It is beautiful, so I think I just need to forget about the labor before attempting another apple baby. LOL
