Every time I watch one of your videos, I think to myself that you have created a masterpiece. But then you post a new creation that exceeds what I have seen before. Absolutely love this one. You are a true woodworking artisan! 👏👏👏☮️
Pristine! My compliment is that you both picked the colour of the resin perfectly, and you made a great form with carbide tools. So often when I see carbide used it has little to no form. Your vessel is sharp!
I really appreciate you taking the time to create and post this video. Particularly because my unopened Christmas gift is sitting 12’ away from me, awaiting Christmas Eve. I picked it out and can’t wait to use it. A California Air Tools 365CR 5 gallon Pressure Pot. This aspect of turning is completely new to me so your video is very helpful and appreciated.
Thank you very much Jim. Much appreciated. I’m at a point where I’m not sure what I enjoy more. The filming and editing or the woodworking. Thanks for the compliments. I hope you have a great day! Scott
@ I’m kind of in the same place. I really like making things but the videos are a whole other job and skill unto themselves. I think you either have to be a production turner or make the videos the “product”. I’m leaning toward the latter as I prefer making art.
Thank you very much Mike. Really appreciate it. I think it’s probably my best turning so far. Was definitely a fun one. I hope you have a great day! Scott
This is *stunning*! It's such a shame that you're colorblind, because the colors you chose for the resin really compliment and bring out the beauty of the wood grain. I follow a few woodworkers here on RUclips and I'm constantly impressed and left in awe at everything you all create. This is top-tier!
After you removed the bark this piece reminded me on a roasted chicken. But the final result is awesome. By the way: You cut off your beard. Bummer! You looked very cool with it.
That was a gorgeous outcome from such an ugly and unlikely lump of wood! All the angles of the vase are beautiful with such contrasting sights of the original piece of timber. One can never know just how spectacular it can become! Well done, Sir! This is my first visit to your channel but I sure will be back for more! Merry Christmas from Down Under ❤️😊🦘🇦🇺🎄
Absolutely stunning you Sir have become an amazing artist and masterpiece craftsman at wood tuning. Keep up the amazing work. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your family 🎉🍾🎊🍻
Scott, another real beauty!Great idea using cardboard tubes instead of always wrestling with poly! Longer open working time with that “ liquid glass”? Are you able to sand less in the thousands using that uv curing finish? Stay safe. Seems that epoxy doesn’t chatter and flack as much as some polyurethane ie. Alumilite clear slow?
Thank you ! The liquid glass has a much longer open time. I believe it says 80 minutes in the instructions but I fell it’s a bit longer than that. Only down side is the long cure time. I usually let it cure for about 6-7 days before turning. I don’t really notice a huge difference in the actual turning. I think the chatter/chipping is more related to tools used than the type of resin. The negative rake carbide cutters are ideal for working with resin. Thanks for watching and the comments! I hope you have a great day! Scott
Forgot one. The UV finish saves days on the finishing process. Only sand up to 800 before first coat. Second applied after 10ish minutes under the UV light. Wet sand with 1000 between coats two and three and fourth goes on like glass. Total time 1-2 hours depending on piece? Used to take days waiting in between coats.
@@dtork47 I do not use any sealer. From my experience sealer is generally used on wood to keep the finish from looking blotchy. Generally the pieces I make have so much grain variation going on that I don’t think it would even be noticeable if it was blotchy. Regardless probably best to follow manufacturer advice for “best” result. But man, the stuff is expensive so….?
I’m a new subscriber, I’ve watched a few of your videos and I really like your content. This one turned out to be a stunning piece of work. Thank you for sharing.
Hey, I wanna ask what you thought of that simple hollow system has it worked good for you and is it pretty durable and how far over your Tool rest can you get? Thanks so much, Steve.
I do really like the simple hollower. It’s the only hollowing system I’ve ever used so I do not have any comparison to test against. It seems extremely well made and durable. Fairly quick to set up. As far as reach goes that totally depends on the length of the tools used. Simple woodturning tools recently came out with 12” extended reach scrapers that look like they would work great in this system. Unfortunately I have not been able to try them out yet. The flat tool rests they make also pair really well with the hollower. They help keep down the vibration. Check description for links if interested. Thanks for watching. Hope you have a great weekend! Scott

Looks great.
Amazing!!
thank you for showing us your gorgeous work
12:55 sir, may I ask which finish do you use?
Thanks for watching! Check description for links to products used. Hope you have a great day!
Does the light make things easier? Can it be used as more than a rough estimate of location?
The laser definitely makes the hollowing process easier. Helps to not have to constantly bend over and look in there. Thanks for watching!

Absolutely stunning you Sir have become an amazing artist and masterpiece craftsman at wood tuning. Keep up the amazing work. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your family 🎉🍾🎊🍻
Absolutely fantastic. A little dark rich green with this red would have been a nice Christmas vase. Not that it would top this though.
Бьютифул! Вандерфул!

And, addressing "the elephant in the room" - How long had it been since "Johnny Razor" had visited?
Thank you! Beard had to go for a bit. It’s currently making a comeback. Should be back in no time. Hope you great day!
It’s 12/13/ 24 but where can I buy a piece.
